Caution with sources please

edit

Just a polite warning, in this edit you inserted content that is not in the source: "led to trans-women that killed rivals in women's boxing". The source does not discuss transwomen killing anybody in boxing, I don't think that has ever happened. We also don't put terms like "woke ideology" in WP:VOICE. Zenomonoz (talk) 23:16, 24 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

There's the paragraph that says "He lamented that proponents of the “LGBT agenda” remain silent “when a man dresses as a woman and kills his opponent in a boxing ring or when a male prison inmate claims to be a woman and ends up sexually assaulting women in prison,” referring to instances where trans-identified males compete in women’s sports and are housed in prison cells with women where they sleep and shower in the same spaces". The thing is that Milei said that, and that it was one of the arguments he used to explain his idea. And unless some source checks the speech for any potential errors, doing so ourselves would be original research. I also wrote "Milei criticized woke ideology" because that is exactly what he said he was doing, and it is more polite than "sinister agenda of wokeism" and other terms he used. By the way, I'm only superficially familiar with US politics, but according to the article woke it would seem that the term can be used both with a derogative meaning and with the original intended meaning. In fact, it's illustrated with a photo of someone embracing the term in a positive way. But if it is indeed derogatory nowadays, then I would have to explain the purpose of the speech saying that "Milei criticized..." what, exactly? Which would be the positive and non-derogative term for the concept that some people refer to in a derogative manner with the term "Woke"? Cambalachero (talk) 23:45, 24 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hello. The Christian Post source mustn't have loaded in full when I first searched it for killed, so yes the claim about "killed" is in the source (whether or not it's due for inclusion is unclear).
However, the part about using WP:VOICE still stands. To clarify, you wrote During a speech at Davos, Milei criticized woke ideology. I'm not saying you cannot mention this, only that you need to use quotes to ensure it is not in wikivoice. E.g. Milei criticized "woke ideology", which the source itself does. It would be better to find another source that covers this speech too. Zenomonoz (talk) 00:00, 25 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I have added back in coverage of this speech on the article. I think the part about "woke ideology" is too broad to go under the LGBT heading, so I've restricted it to views on that topic. Zenomonoz (talk) Zenomonoz (talk) 00:08, 25 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
