editHello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Timeline of women in warfare in the United States since 2000 may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s and 1 "{}"s likely mistaking one for another. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. There must be a word for it
editIs there a word for a chain of paraphrases that winds up being quite misleading? There should be. Anyway, I think we've seen it again with Agrippina the Younger. Here's a translation of an incident in Tacitus: "Upon this the emperor granted pardon to Caractacus, to his wife, and to his brothers. Released from their bonds, they did homage also to Agrippina who sat near, conspicuous on another throne, in the same language of praise and gratitude. It was indeed a novelty, quite alien to ancient manners, for a woman to sit in front of Roman standards. In fact, Agrippina boasted that she was herself a partner in the empire which her ancestors had won."[1](in Latin). That's drifted into "presided over the exercises of Roman legions"[2] to "commanded Roman legions in Britain"[3] to "Category:Women in 1st-century warfare".[4] I notice this chain involved Jessica Salmonson's "Encyclopedia of Amazons". I don't have a copy - if you have, could you take a look to see if it might sometimes overstate or be a little too inclusive? NebY (talk) 12:48, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

Removal of categories
editWhat is your reason for removing the "Puerto Rican military personnel" and "Women in WW II" categories from the articles of Puerto Rican woman who have them? Have you read the categories which you have removed? Tony the Marine (talk) 15:43, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, I see that you answered my question. The situation in Puerto Rico is a political and patriotic one. Even though Puerto Rico is an American territory, they do not enjoy the same American citizenship (which was imposed on them) rights (They can't even vote for the president) that the people in the mainland USA enjoy. Their rights are limited and be revoked. Puerto Rico maybe a territory but, it is not part of the United States since it can choose to become an independent nation. The people of Puerto Rico consider themselves "Puerto Rican" and that is the reason that for academic purposes the "Puerto Rican' categories are posted. Tony the Marine (talk) 15:52, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
- I like your dedication and way of expressing yourself in a friendly way. I have a good feeling that we can work together on some of the military articles which you mentioned. Tony the Marine (talk) 16:16, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
Pictures of women in the US Military
editHi Asarelah, the situation is a little difficult when it comes to obtaining PD photos from books and or newspapers, however I once found an excellent site which was very helpful. That site is the Women's Memorial website [5], a great source of photos and information. The thing is that if you need a certain PD photo, you can e-mail them and they will do everything in their power to provide you with one. Tony the Marine (talk) 19:18, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
Pixie Medic's message
editHow do I send you a message? It's about a case of military rape that is being ignored. I am hoping that some kind of media coverage may help shine light on the fact that this person is getting away with rape.

Re:Barnstars
edit14 Barnstars, wow Asarelah I am overwhelmed. Thank you 14 times, it is truly amazing, I have never received so many barnstars at one time. Asarelah, the important thing is not how many barnstars I receive, but that I have now a wonderful friend in Wikipedia who uses the user name Asarelah. - By the way, check out the section that I wrote about Hispanic women in the American Civil War in my article: Hispanics in the American Civil War. I really enjoyed writing the bio of "Lola Sanchez". I think that you may want to add them to the article which you are working on in your sandbox. Tony the Marine (talk) 19:24, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

Dahmer
editI did read the sources, Asarelah. Hardly a disreputable source. My problem is that no book I have on Dahmer mentions any sexual assaults being committed by Dahmer in the Army. Many of his army colleagues were interviewed when this case exploded onto the headlines in 1991 and none mentioned any sexually threatening behavior. In fact, some of his comrades recalled that he was known as 'The Orphan' due to his loneliness and lack of physical contact with others. Some clubbed money together on one occasion to (unsuccessfully) attempt him to lose his virginity. It also does not fit his MO. Maybe the claims should be morphed into the article, but I'd be more inclined to question their credibility.--Kieronoldham (talk) 21:35, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- I never said it didn't happen, but I would very strongly question its authenticity given the multiple sources which hark otherwise as to his Army days. Aside from all I wrote on your page previously, I should add that Dahmer revealed all to police after his 1991 arrest including homicides and attempted abductions which, lets face it, would never have been solved or linked to him had he not confessed. He held nothing back and I think that, by the stretch of his associated actions, would make instances of rape in the Army a lesser action. In addition, he stated later that he was sexually inexperienced until the mid-1980s, when he discovered the bath houses. He was an amateur in addition to a virgin while in the Army. His first two murders (1978 and 1987) were spontaneous, somewhat clumsy episodes. I would say that the "collapse of struggle" following Tuomi's murder unleashed the dedviance in Dahmer. If you read about his Army life from people who knew him at the time and analyzed him afterwards (including defense psychiatric experts), none of them saw/heard him hark to even tentative sexual activity in the Army, let alone rape. He was a deteriorating drunkard who seldom left his bunk, was prone to lone walks, and who fueled his urges via masturbation. He was also traumatized by the 1st killing. Capshaw himself stated he was a pitiful drunk who would simply mock others when drunk but was screw up the punch lines more often than not due to his being inebriated. I'd say all these sources outweigh Capshaw's later claims of supposedly being raped. But, Wikipedia is for us all.--Kieronoldham (talk) 09:25, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

Ways to improve Karam (festival)
editHi, I'm Scope creep. Asarelah, thanks for creating Karam (festival)!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please rewrite sources in the correct format, not using bare urls, and fix Philosophy section.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. scope_creep (talk) 18:17, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
Image requests
editHi, so I see you have added {{image requested}} to a bunch of articles on medieval women. The issue is that in majority of the cases no images exist. In my neck of the woods (Lithuania), contemporary portraits begin to exist around the 16th century. Some famous people (rulers and such) got their portraits created many years after their death. But other lesser known people have nothing. That includes both men and women. Besides, historical biographies are one of the easiest to illustrate - any portraits are PD because of their age. So, chances are that if there is no image in old biographies that's because none exist (and unless someone creates a modern fictional portrait, none will exist). I will remove the template (because it is not helpful) from the few articles you tagged on my watchlist. Renata (talk) 23:50, 28 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Orphaned non-free image File:Correlliantraditionlogo.jpg

However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:29, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

Galungan categories removal
editHi, I removed the categories you added to Galungan because although many schools and offices in Bali are closed on the day, it's not an official public holiday. It might cause problems if it was... Also, Galungan and Kuningan occur every 210 days, so the month is always different. Regards Davidelit (Talk) 00:01, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
