Speedy deletion nomination of Fülane Hatun

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Fülane Hatun requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Flat Out let's discuss it 12:51, 24 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Moving some pages

Hi! I saw that you moved page Mahidevran to Mahidevran Sultan over redirect. Can you move Roxelana to Hürrem Sultan and Hatice Muazzez to Hatice Muazzez Sultan? Also, if you can, please move Füldane Valide Sultan to Füldane Sultan, because this kind of title is used when there's another Füldane Sultan who is the daughter of an Ottoman Sultan, so users don't become confused. Moving pages and naming conventions

edit

Given how many times you moved Gülbahar Hatun I around, I would like to request that you propose moves via Wikipedia:Requested moves for a while. The reason is that we have naming conventions here on Wikipedia. A person that is the first of something is usually referred to as "John Smith I" rather than "I. John Smith". It's very rare that something goes against these naming conventions on Wikipedia and that's only when we have an extremely large amount of English language sources that refer to a person by that specific name. I don't normally fuss at people for this sort of thing, but you moved the page six times. That's a little excessive. If you're unsure what a name should go by, that's when it's time to ask on the requested moves board or on the appropriate WikiProject. I don't think you had any ill will or anything, just that you weren't sure what name to keep this article at. Also, when trying to fix problems with moving, the better course of action is to ask an admin to fix it rather than try to get the original article history deleted. Proposed deletion of Esmehan Baharnaz Sultan

edit

The article Esmehan Baharnaz Sultan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No references. Also, being the daughter, mother, or wife of notability does not imply notability. Being a high ranking person in a notable family may infer notability but someone will need to point out what part of WP:N is satisfied.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Mehisti Kadın Efendi

edit

Hello Retrieverlove,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Mehisti Kadın Efendi for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

Article moves

edit

Please stop moving articles and then completely re-writing them so they are on a entirely different topic. Just start a new article at the new title on the new topic, leaving the old article on the old topic where it was. DrKay (talk) 16:09, 28 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Do not move articles and then completely re-write them so they are on a entirely different topic as you did by moving Meylişah Hatun to Şehzade Ömer and then completely re-writing it. Do not continue with a sequence of edits when you have received warnings or requests from other editors to stop them. If you do this again, after repeated warnings, I will block you for disruption. Ways to improve Mihri Müşfik Hanım

edit

Hi, I'm Fiachra10003. Retrieverlove, thanks for creating Mihri Müşfik Hanım!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. I'm puzzled the the princess could have painted the portrait of Benedict XVI if she died in 1954 when the future pope was barely out of seminary. The Turkish wikipedia makes the same claim. Can you find a reference explaining the claim?

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Fiachra10003 (talk) 15:45, 14 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

You made many false claims about the Ottoman Dynasty.

Mahidevran is not a Ancestess of any living member of the Ottoman Dynasty.

Also this claim that she was a Princess of a Caucasion Family is not a source of the Ottoman Dynasty. This is a selfmade story of a Person in Turkey. Since the series Muhtesem yüzyil many Mahidevran Fans made such statemants.

You will see what happend....Because I-net is not secure. And the Ottoman Dynasty doesnt linke such false claims about there Family.

Rumeyse, Nurichian etc...are all Muhtesem charakters and not a living person, also at this Time no ottoman cousin married to each other.

Kücük Ahmet alias Yusuf Adil Shah

edit

Maybe this will be very interesting now for you:

Kücük Ahmed alias Yusuf Adil Shah was the son of Murad II, the Sultan of Turkey. After the Sultan's death and succession to throne by the crown prince, all other sons were executed. However, Yusuf's mother Tajunisa secretly replaced him with a slave boy and sent him to Persia. After many romantic adventures, Yusuf reached the court of the Bidar Sultanate. His bravery and personality raised him rapidly in Sultan's favor, resulting in his appointment as the Governor of Bijapur. He built the Citadel or Arkilla and the Faroukh Mahal. Yusuf was a man of culture. He invited poets and artisans from Persia, Turkey and Rome to his court. He married Punji, the sister of a Maratha warrior. When Yusuf died in 1510 A.D., Ismail, his son, was still a boy. Punji in male attire valiantly defended him from a coup to grab the throne. Ismail Adil Shah thus became the king of Bijapur.

Hi. Actually as you have knowledge about Ottoman dynasty, please improve Nükhetsezâ Hanım Efendi's article and add more material and sources to it. I also suggest moving it to Nükhetsezâ Sultan, like some other kadin efendis and hanim efendis that their pages' titles are moved to sultan. This way she won't be confused with the other Nükhetsezâ. Speedy deletion nomination of Qutlugh Terken Khatun

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Qutlugh Terken Khatun requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from https://books.google.com/books?id=H103FlBPxfUC&pg=PA245&lpg=PA245&dq=as+reflective+of+the+status+of+women+under+their+rule.+Women+had+always+played+a+leading+role+in+Mongol+society,+and+women+from+steppe+societies+in+general+enjoyed+a+higher+status+than+their&source=bl&ots=6Myht32QTT&sig=7Bf5rr3uuD2HZBHRBjjY02GLJHs&hl=en&sa=X&ei=2KTXVJKKC4zpoAT21oFY&ved=0CCEQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=as%20reflective%20of%20the%20status%20of%20women%20under%20their%20rule.%20Women%20had%20always%20played%20a%20leading%20role%20in%20Mongol%20society%2C%20and%20women%20from%20steppe%20societies%20in%20general%20enjoyed%20a%20higher%20status%20than%20their&f=false. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. reddogsix (talk) 18:04, 8 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Please don't copy passages straight from your sources as you did at Helena Palaiologina (daughter of Demetrios Palaiologos). First, if you don't edit the passages and provide them with context, the resulting article is incomprehensible to the people unfamiliar with the subject and second, it is a copyright violation and would lead to you getting blocked. edit

Hi. I have seen your great works about Ottoman dynasty articles and I have come here to give you a warning and a request. First of all as administrator DrKay said previously, don't move pages without any clear reason and don't change their whole material to something new. For writing about a new topic, please create a new article. As I saw previously you improved and created many articles about Ottoman dynasty. It'll be really good if you try to expand and improve articles of Şehzade Mehmed, Şehzade Cihangir and Şehzade Bayezid. I wish you enjoy your time here on Wikipedia and create more articles about Ottoman Empire. Cheers. Keivan.fTalk 12:23, 14 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Hatice Sultan (daughter of Ahmed III)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Hatice Sultan (daughter of Ahmed III) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. For reference, this has now been resolved by splitting the history of the page, see Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2015_May_28#Hatice_Sultan_(daughter_of_Ahmed_III). – Fayenatic London 17:43, 4 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. DrKay (talk) 21:11, 21 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Moving pages to create articles about different people

edit

In November 2014 you moved Hatice Sultan (daughter of Ahmed III) to Fatma Sultan (daughter of Ahmed III), and then edited the article to be about a different person. This led to a long discussion at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2015 May 28#Hatice Sultan (daughter of Ahmed III), followed by a lot of work to sort out the mess and restore separate articles.

Likewise, on 11 March 2015 you moved Hafsa Sultan to Şehzade Sultan and edited that into an article about another person. This had to be put back the same way.

Please, never do that again. If you want help, ask for it. You could start at WP:Village pump.

I have left a note at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ottoman Empire#Hafsa Sultan and Hatice Sultan (daughter of Ahmed III) listed at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion asking other editors to sort out the content. – Fayenatic London 18:19, 4 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

In November 2014, I warned you that I would block you if you performed moves like the one described above.[6] Editors have asked you since December 2013 not to perform unilateral moves.[7] To avoid an indefinite block, please post a message here stating that you will not perform any further moves and that in future if you feel any page should be moved you will follow the process for controversial moves at Wikipedia:Requested moves. And if it is possible for you please take a look at Şehzade Mustafa and Şehzade Bayezid's articles to see if the lists of their wives and children are complete or not. Specially Bayezid whom I doubt that had only one wife. And at last Please check Mihrimah Sultan's article to see if her children's names are correct or not. Please do these every time you can. I also want to thank you for your great works on Ottoman-related articles. Keivan.fTalk 08:29, 18 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Please correct the information in Şehzade Sultan and Hafsa Sultan's articles. They look exactly the same. Everything is similar, their date of births and deaths, their spouses etc. Please solve this problem but without moving those pages. Keivan.fTalk 15:56, 3 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Also, where did you get your source for Mahfiruz Hatice Sultan's children? Is it a reliable source? Is it a book? You have added only one sentence as a source for her children's names: "Hadice Mah-firuz (1590 c. - 1620) con Osman II (1618- 1622). Ahmed I ebbe solo tre donne: Hadice Mah-firuz, da cui ebbe quattro figli (Osman, Bayezìd, Sùleyman e Hù- seyn)". From which book or website you have got this sentence? Please tell me sooner. Moving pages without discussion

edit

Hi. I just noticed that you have moved dozens of pages about the Ottoman consorts without discussing it first. It would be much better if you had given a request for those pages to be moved instead of moving them without any clear reason. Among those articles were also these two: Perestu and Şevkefza. It's not important at all that how they were referred to on a piece of paper or a stone in Topkapi as they're not ancient documents from the past and have been written by some anonymous guys (maybe historians; I don't know). So they can't be considered that much credible and reliable. If you have a historical book or a reliable source in order to support your claims, please let me know. Besides these two women were Valide "Sultans" which means that they could automatically become able to use this title. Anyway, please try to respond as soon as possible, and I'll probably ask the administrators' advice to deal with this situation. Keivan.fTalk 02:07, 22 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Valide sultan just mean "mother of the Sultan". The status of the mother of a reigning Sultan is translated in English as Empress mother. It was just a reference also used from the Seljuk and early Ottoman times, and not starting from Hafsa Sultan, the mother of Suleiman I. It is not neccessory to use the title Sultan after the name. The documents and other histories written during the Ottoman Empire mention the two of them as Kadın. I have moved alot of pages from Kadınefendi and Hanımefendi to Kadın and Hanım, because the princesses of the dynasty also used Sultanefendi, but when someone speaks of them, they only rendered them as Sultan. Retrieverlove 05:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
My native language is Persian so I'm completely aware of the meanings. Valide and Sultan are Arabic words which are also used in Persian and Turkish. It means "a sultan who is mother [to the reigning emperor]" or just simply "mother of the sultan". It's obvious that Hafsa wasn't the first queen mother in the Ottoman history but as long as I know her predecessors used the title "Hatun" (Khatun) which is a title borrowed from Mongolian language and it was later used by Turks and Persians in order to refer to ladies. Anyway, Valide Sultan is a title like empress mother, queen mother, etc, and when someone is entitled to it, she's actually able to use it as a whole or just a part of it. An example would be Hafsa Valide Sultan or just Hafsa Sultan; Dowager Queen Alexandra or just Queen Alexandra (or maybe Valide Sultan Şevkefza Kadın, Valide Sultan Şevkefza, Şevkefza Valide Sultan, Şevkefza Kadın, Şevkefza Sultan; all of them seem to be correct). So I still can't understand why you insist on using Şevkefza Kadın instead of Şevkefza Sultan. I'd be glad if you could provide the sources that mention her as a Kadın. About removing "efendi" from the end of the titles, well it's probably a Turkish honorific title as it was used for Shaykh al-Islāms as well. I don't know how it was used in Turkish language so I have to simply trust what you just said. Keivan.fTalk 22:04, 22 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
And why haven't you moved these pages yet? Rabia Şermi Kadınefendi, Emine Mihrişah Kadınefendi, Hürrem Kadınefendi, Nükhetsezâ Hanımefendi (wife of Abdul Hamid I), Nükhetsezâ Hanımefendi (wife of Abdülmecid I), Aşubican Kadınefendi, Şayeste Hanımefendi, Serfiraz Hanımefendi, Yıldız Hanımefendi, Cevherriz Hanımefendi, Nevdür Hanımefendi, Remişnaz Hanımefendi, Filizten Hanımefendi, Peyveste Hanımefendi, and Nevvare Hanımefendi.
I want to delete the pages about Yıldız, Nevdür, Remişnaz, Cevherriz, Şayan Kadın (wife of Abdülmecid I), and Hoşyar Kadınefendi (This lady was the wife of Mahmid II, but is called wife of Abdülmecid I, I will either make her the wife of Mahmud II as I have alot of information about her or I will delete it) because according to my research, they were not the Sultan's wives. They were either Hazinedar or Kalfas of the imperial harem. The information about Nükhetseza wife of Abdulhamid I, and Hürrem wife of Ahmed III are selfmade. I am unable to move the pages Nevvare, Peyveste, Serfiraz, Şayeste, Nükhetseza wife of Abdülmecid, Filizten (also not a wife of the sultan, and a Kalfa, but had written memoirs which give detail about life in the Çirağan Palace, so I donot want to delete this page) because they already exist and I don't know how to move them back. I will move the pages of Şermi, Aşubican and Mihrişah. Efendi is a title of respect and was used by a number of royal and ordinary ladies. The titles Kadın and Hanım have similar meaning lady as that of Hatun. The title Sultan after the ladies name is just a replacement of the title Hatun and have some what same meanings. All of the four titles can be translated as Empress consort. Use of one title after the ladies name is better than to insert a number of titles because a number of other titles were also used before and after the name. I will lateron provide my sources for the titles of Kadın for both Şevefza and Perestu.
If you want to delete some of those pages just leave a message on an administrator's talk page and ask for his advice and he'll probably guide you. You can also nominate them for deletion because if you just simply move them it can cause several problems as the previous pages might still redirect to the new ones and it makes the users and readers confused. You better consult an administrator and make sure that they get deleted. Keivan.fTalk 05:21, 23 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
If you also want to create a new page you cannot move an existing page, change its title and add new material. Please create a new article and for those that you believe should be deleted you can just do what I said above. Have a nice day. Keivan.fTalk 05:24, 23 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
Can you please delete these pages and move the other pages that I have listed.
I don't have the authority to delete a page. As I said you have to give a request or consult an administrator. Provide your reasons just like you wrote them above and they will delete those pages. And what pages do you want to move? I can move them but I couldn't understand which one of those need to be moved and "why". Keivan.fTalk 03:19, 24 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
Change the pages Nevvare Hanımefendi, Peyveste Hanımefendi, Serfiraz Hanımefendi, Şayeste Hanımefendi, Nükhetsezâ Hanımefendi (wife of Abdülmecid I), and Filizten Hanımefendi to Nevvare Hanım, Peyveste Hanım, Serfiraz Hanım, Şayeste Hanım, Nükhetseza Hanım, and Filizten Hanım, because efendi is just an honorific title, and of the princesses articles have not used it. If Efendi is placed in the names than all the other titles would also needed to be placed, which would make the title very very long. The title is used on articles of men, who only had one title Efendi. The following pages already exist.
Alright. Now I understand. But those pages you mentioned above can't be moved because the titles you have in mind for them already redirect to those articles. It's not a big deal though because I have checked the talk pages and there's no record of any move request on them which makes the administrators able to move them. It means that you don't need to give an official request on Wikipedia:RM. Just go to the talk page of one of them and explain the situation and they will move the pages. Keivan.fTalk 08:58, 24 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
What is the method for requested moves?
For moving a controversial article you have to give a request at Wikipedia:RM. When a page gets moved several times it makes you unable to move it again, so you have two ways: Giving a request at Wikipedia:RM, or asking an administrator to do it. But an administrator checks the talk pages first and if there was previously a discussion at Wikipedia:RM for changing the page's title, then you again have to give a new request in order to move that article. I think there's no record of previous discussions for moving the articles that you have mentioned above and as they're not that much controversial the administrators can probably move them. Canfeda Hatun

edit

I've fixed the sfn referencing in Canfeda Hatun - see this diff. The general idea is that the hyperlinks in the references section should take the user to the appropriate source - and that now happens. I thought it worth drawing the changes to your attention, as you had got so near to doing it correctly, but had not quite got there. Finally I note, fwiw, that the format of the second reference - Narodna biblioteka - look a little suspect - I'm not sure what the "Sv. sv. part is all about. thanks --Tagishsimon (talk) 19:10, 24 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Emine Mihrişah Kadınefendi

edit

Hi. It seems that you have enough knowledge about the Ottoman history that's why I chose you to ask a question. Was Emine Mihrişah Kadınefendi a Valide Sultan? A user recently has added a new source to this article and unfortunately I don't have access to it, so it's impossible for me to check it. I just want to know whether this woman generally is mentioned as a Valide Sultan on the sources or not. Keivan.fTalk 00:12, 17 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

No, she is not mentioned in any source as Valide Sultan. Çağatay Uluçay cites a document of the year 1171 hijri (1758) for the building of Ayazma Mosque, which says that she has already died. Another document of the year 1175 hijri (1762) calls her The second Kadın, and in which she also appears decreased. Ayvansarayi Hafiz Hüseyin Efendi places her death in 1145 hijri (1732), while Mehmed Sürreya Bey in "Sicilli Osmani" places her death in 1144 hijri (1731). Here I follow Ayvansaray which is a more reliable source.
Alright, and what about this woman Rabia Sultan? Was she a Haseki Sultan? Because it's claimed on her article that she was the last holder of this title. I want to know whether it's true or not. Keivan.fTalk 12:13, 20 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes, she was the last holder of the title.
Thanks for your responses. About Emine, you said that according to Ulucay she never became a Valide Sultan. The user who changed her article cites this source in order to support his/her claims: Sakaoğlu, Necdet (2008). Bu mülkün kadın sultanları: Vâlide sultanlar, hâtunlar, hasekiler, kadınefendiler, sultanefendiler. So here we have two possibilities. One historian claims that she was a Valide while the other one says she had died before the beginning of her sons' reign. I don't have access to neither of these sources but if there are two theories about her life, then both of them should be added to her article. Please add the sources you mentioned above and the things that you already know about her based on reliable sources to the article as soon as possible.
Another thing that I would like to mention is your recent contributions on the articles of Haseki Sultans. Why did you remove those sections from the infoboxes without providing an edit summary or discussing it first? Anyway, I decided to ask you myself. I hope you have a reason otherwise unfortunately I will be forced to revert your edits. Keivan.fTalk 02:41, 24 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
I am working on Mihrişah's article. The reason for removing the section in the page Haseki sultan is that, once a haseki always a haseki. A haseki will retain her status and title as a haseki even after the death of her husband when she will be no longer an Empress consort. There were even multiple hasekis at one time. So the section "ceased to be haseki" should not be used for them.
OK. Great. About the haseki, well I can point out some similarities here between this title and some other titles in Europe or Asia. The main point is that a queen also is always a queen. I get what you mean or intend to say. That a Valide Sultan like Nurbanu would still be referred to as Haseki Nurbanu after her husband's death. Well, the European queens, for example the British queens, like Queen Alexandra and Queen Mary, also outlived their husbands and even though they were queen mothers they were still referred to as Queen Alexandra and Queen Mary but the fact is that they ceased to be a monarch's royal consort, the same goes for the Ottoman consorts. There are numerous other examples. About the existence of multiple hasekis, well in China and Japan sometimes the emperors had two empress consorts. So it's not something unusual if some male monarchs like Ibrahim had had multiple major consorts. Based on what I said above I think we should restore the previous versions of the articles. Do you still oppose it? Keivan.fTalk 07:24, 24 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
An Empress didn't started her career as a haseki but as Hatun. After becoming a favourite consort she was promoted to the position of a haseki. She still had equal position as other Empresses according to the Islamic law. This title is similar to the earlier titles Despina and Devlet. The title haseki doesnot mean that its holder is the only Empress consort.
I know that the holder of this title wasn't the only empress consort. That's why I gave the example of Far East countries where, some times, there was more than one empress. The other thing you said was that an Ottoman consort wouldn't become a haseki of the emperor immediately with the start of her husband's reign. Why? Weren't they already major consorts to the princes who would become emperors? An example would be Nurbanu. Obviously she entered her husband's harem during her father-in-law's reign and later gave birth to Selim's children. So you mean by 1566 when her husband became emperor she didn't become a haseki of the emperor and was later appointed to this position? I doubt it. Keivan.fTalk 00:12, 25 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Ok, don't remove the section ceased to be haseki.
I will probably change "ceased to be haseki" to "ceased to be the imperial consort". Keivan.fTalk 02:14, 27 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Why isn't the article Mahidevran renamed to Mahidevran Hatun, which was her original title. She was refered to as "Mahidevran Hatun Valide Sultan Mustafa-i Cedid" which is translated as Empress Mahidevran mother of the new Prince Mustafa (new meaning Sultan Suleiman's son and not Mehmed II's son).
Well, the reason is pretty obvious. Just check the article's talk page and you'll realize why the current title was chosen for this article. There has been multiple discussions over the past months and it seems that the users are unable to determine exactly what her title was. The page was moved multiple times to different titles but each time the other users weren't able to get a consensus of opinion. That's why the page should be treated as a controversial one and the title should remain as it is. Keivan.fTalk 03:10, 28 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Aurangabadi Mahal, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Muhammad Akbar. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Providing sources and deleting the fabricated articles

edit

Hi. I don't you whether you remember it or not, but we had a discussion back in November 2016 about some historical Ottoman figures. You told me that you would provide the names of books and documents which you had used as sources for moving these two articles: Şevkefza Kadın and Perestu Kadın. The reason that I insist on including the sources is that there's a risk that those pages might be moved back to their previous titles. Also, you mentioned that the information on Hoşyar Kadınefendi was not accurate, but as you stated that you had access to reliable sources in order to expand the article and correct its mistakes, I decided not to nominate it for deletion. Do you still wish to work on this article? And finally as you may already know too many fabricated articles have been deleted during the past months. You had said that these three women Yıldız Hanımefendi, Remişnaz Hanımefendi, Nevdür Hanımefendi weren't imperial consorts but rather kalfas. Do you have any information about them which you might want to use to correct and expand their respective articles? If not, then I'll have to nominate them for deletion as they're currently considered hoaxes. Keivan.fTalk 02:52, 18 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

For Şevkefza Kadın the sources are M. Padişahların Kadınları ve Kızları - M. Çağatay Uluçay, p. 141, where in the archives at the time of her death she is still referred as a Kadın. As well as Filizten in her memoirs "Çırağan Sarayında 28 sene beşinci Murad'ın hayatı" also refers her to as Kadın. For Perestu Kadın, she is also referred as Kadın in M. Padişahların Kadınları ve Kızları - M. Çağatay Uluçay, p. 142, Ayşe Sultan's memoirs Babam Sultan Abdülhamid, on the fountain she built during Abdul Hamid II's reign [8]. As for Hoşyar Kadınefendi, I came to know that she was a wife of Abdulmejid's father Mahmud II, so I to change the information on the article about the wife of Mahmud. You can let me change the article's information or you can nominate it for deletion. As for Yıldız Hanımefendi, Remişnaz Hanımefendi, and Nevdür Hanımefendi you can nominate them for deletion as I couldn't find any information about them. Retrieverlove 09:53, 18 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Why did you create Yıldız Hanımefendi, Remişnaz Hanımefendi, and Nevdür Hanımefendi? DrKay (talk) 06:27, 18 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
At the time I created the pages, I didn't had sufficient knowledge about the ladies whether they were the wives of Ottoman Sultans or not. But as time passed by, I came to know that they were not the the wives of the Sultans. Retrieverlove 12:52, 18 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Can anyone change the pages Nevvare HanımefendiPeyveste HanımefendiSerfiraz Hanımefendi, and Şayeste Hanımefendi to Nevvare HanımPeyveste HanımSerfiraz HanımŞayeste Hanım. Retrieverlove 12:55, 18 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Please also nominate the article Meylişah Hatun for deletion, because I cannot find any reliable source about the article. Retrieverlove 01:27, 18 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your response. I'll add those sources to the articles of Şevkefza and Perestu (of course if you haven't already added them). I will also nominate Meylişah Hatun for deletion. I think a discussion is necessary as I really want to know whether the other users could find any information about her or not. As for those four pages, as there's no preexisting move request for any of them, you can simply ask an administrator (for example DrKay) to move them. Keivan.fTalk 08:43, 18 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
And as you said that you wanted to change the information on Hoşyar Kadınefendi, I think it'd be wiser to keep the article, but please do what you want to do as fast as you can, as the first time you declared that you wanted to work on this article was around 8 months ago. I'd be glad if you put it on your list of priorities. Keivan.fTalk 09:23, 18 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Also Special:Diff/851116252 And further, in your edits to Saliha Banu Begum you have changed the name "Ramani Ghabaru" but to a misspelling "Rahamt Banu". You reference {{sfn|Pathak|2008|p=13}} but that doesn't link to anything, though you have that book mentioned in the bibliography. You changed "The power-hungry Laluksola Borphukan did not listen to his noble niece, but her love for her mother-land is still remembered by the people of Assam with great reverence." to "However, Laluksola Borphukan did not listened his noble niece." Notice the bad grammar. And why, since I see part of the old version of text here at Google books. Where did your version come from? (not the book?)

Edit summaries

edit

Do bother explaining what you're doing and why, otherwise the next stop is WP:ANI. I have no idea why you're deleting stuff from articles, nor has any other editor. Please explain. If you go on like this, you will likely get indeffed, and I suppose you want to avoid it. It is upon the editor who performs the change to justify why the change is needed. You have done none of that: not citing another source, not changing the date of accessing the existing sources, not saying in the edit summary what you were doing, not using the talk page of the article. It is a good idea that in the future you use edit summaries in order to explain your edits instead of leaving other editors guessing about why you delete stuff. See WP:COMMUNICATE. Wikipedia:Expert editors says "Wikipedia has no formal structure with which to determine whether an editor is a subject-matter expert, and does not grant users privileges based on expertise ... No editor is exempt from fundamental Wikipedia policies; in particular, the policies of no original research and verifiability along with guidelines such as reliable sources apply to expert editors just as well". It has been long since I edited this article but in between the research I've done suggests Sehrizor Governor Mehmed Bey, Mustafazade, was husband of Hümașah's daughter Fatma and dead by 1586. The tombs of him and his wife are located at Sehzade Mosque. There are doubts as to Humașah's marriage to Lala Mustafa as well. Hi. I took care of your request at WP:RM/TR but just want you to know, in case you don't already, that you can make these kind of moves yourself. You should be able to move an article over a redirect pointing back to that article, as long as there have been no other edits to that redirect. Station1 (talk) 07:02, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

I've to be an administrator to make a move on the articles. Isn't it so? Retrieverlove (talk) 07:32, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

No, not always. I am not an administrator. Any autoconfirmed editor can move an article to a title that doesn't yet exist (a "redlink"), or to a title that is a redirect back to the article you are trying to move, as long as that redirect has only one edit. If it has more than one edit, then you must be an administrator. Station1 (talk) 18:19, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi, if you are using short citations, please ensure that the link is pointing to the full entry in the bibliography. I strongly suggest installing a script to highlight such errors in the future. All you need to do is copy and paste importScript('User:Svick/HarvErrors.js'); // Backlink: [[User:Svick/HarvErrors.js]] to your common.js page. I have fixed a bunch of such errors in Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors, but there are some that I can't resolve:

More citation issues:

  • Emine Hatun: cites "Uluçay 1988" and "Kastritsis 1988" that are not listed in the bibliography -- is that a typo in year?
  • Bayezid II: cites "Uluçay 1988" -- is that a typo in year?
  • Gülruh Hatun: cites "Uluçay 1988" -- is that a typo in year?
  • Nevfidan Kadın: cites "Uluçay 2007" -- is that a typo in year?
  • Gülcemal Kadın: cites "Sakaoğlu 2009" -- is that a typo in year?
  • Nazime Sultan: cites "Sakaoğlu 2009" -- is that a typo in year?
  • Handan Sultan: cites "Tezan" with no year -- unclear which of two works by Tezan it is supposed to reference
  • Bülbül Hatun: cites "Yakupoğlu 2010" -- no such source in the bibliography
  • Şehzade Mahmud (son of Mehmed III): details needed (author, article title) for two journal citations to International Journal of Turkish Studies and Magazine of Franco Maria Ricci. Also, details for the work authored by "Michael, Michalis N.; Kappler, Matthias; Gavriel, Eftihios" -- it appears that this is supposed to be a book "Ottoman Cyprus: A Collection of Studies on History and Culture" and not the journal listed. Please clarify.

P.S. I did not check that it was indeed you who added all of these citations, but even if it was not you, you are in the best position to address the issues are you are most familiar with the topic and the sources.

Speedy deletion nomination of Harun Osman

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Harun Osman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

Obituarian (talk) 01:27, 11 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Rabia Bala Hatun

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Rabia Bala Hatun requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. July 2021: Edit summaries are necessary. Please leave them.

edit

Many other editors have requested that you leave an edit summary with each edit that you make. Yet, you still can't be bothered to leave one. What you are doing is called WP:Disruptive editing.
Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! --Quisqualis (talk) 03:28, 31 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Concubine Shun moved to draftspace. Barely mentioned in Gbooks. Needs additional references to prove notability.

edit

An article you recently created, Concubine Shun, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. scope_creepTalk 22:25, 19 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Remsense. I noticed that you recently removed content from Seljuk Empire without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.--Min968 (talk) 15:33, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

About Al-Amin wiki

edit

Hello,Sir.It might be more pertinent to modify homosexuality as sexual orientation. Amin had many concubines , he also had sexual relations with them. In addition to homosexuality, bisexuality is also a relatively common sexual orientation. Nor can we directly say that he is homosexual or gay just because he had a love and sexual relationship with an eunuch. In terms of calling him homosexuality or bisexuality, maybe it would be more appropriate to change the title to sexual orientation? 清风与明月 (talk) 12:41, 26 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
