Talk page

Cheers mate. I find a to-do list is useful as a reminder of what to do when I am bored at work. User:Bongomanrae has a pretty solid page if your looking for ideas on where to go next.Londo06 18:29, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Re: Hey, I'm looking to be adopted.

(Re [1]) I would be delighted to. Feel free to ask any questions, don't worry I won't get annoyed. Looking forward to working with you, –xenocidic (talk) 14:40, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

For now, just ask at my talk page, if discussions get rather lengthly then we'll create a separate page to centralize discussions. –xenocidic (talk) 14:54, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
No problem at all; I'm always happy to help. To keep things organized, from now on, I'll reply at my talk page and just leave a short note here (basically update my signature) to let you know I've responded. –xenocidic (talk) 15:02, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Since the old conversation on your talk-page has been archived, where am I best to ask you questions? Lympathy Talk 15:06, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

Replied at my talk. Since you're pretty active, if you want, you can create a user subpage like User:Lympathy/adoption, and then ask questions in there - and then just leave me a note in the first section of my talk page and we can keep it all there. –xeno (talk) 14:33, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

AFL after Saturday night of round 16

I'm deeply confused by the ladder entries that you put in. I've undone your change - your Played/Won/Lost/Drawn entries were completely wrong. Feel free to double-check.

Thanks for letting me know, I used an automated update that somehow confused "Games Won" with "Games Played" and "Games Lost" with "Games won" resulting in two incorrect columns. The rest was right though. I've made the necessary changes and all should be good now. Lympathy Talk 09:47, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Cool - OK. 79.76.167.170 (talk) 13:44, 20 July 2008 (UTC) Rider of Giraffes

Rollback granted

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can be used to revert vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you no longer want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Happy editing! –xeno (talk) 18:37, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Collapsible GC table

I think that was a terrific idea. I've taken a stab at it, here. If you can improve upon it, please do so (just go ahead and edit my sandbox). I think this idea comes awfully close to pleasing everybody, so I hope we can figure it out. Thanks. Nosleep (talk) 19:40, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

TAC Cup teams

AFAIK, the Zebras etc have only ever been the senior VFA/VFL Team names, with the Stingrays/Dragons being the U18 teams. Even if they only adopted the nicknames recently, that is the correct page to link to, not the senior VFL club page. If the two teams belong to the one club (ie are the Stingrays really just the junior club of the Dandenong Football Club?) then the articles could be merged, or preferably have their relationship clearly explained. I will look at some older AFL books I have for some guidance, but the AFL generally just uses Eastern U18 or similar rather than any nicknames. The-Pope (talk) 01:49, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

AFL scores ...

Thanks for your work on fixing scores. I was thinking of writing a script that auto-compared the ones on wikipedia with the ones in the official AFL reports. If you think that's worthwhile, let me know, although it won't happen immediately. 83.104.25.51 (talk) 14:32, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

My reply [3] Lympathy Talk 14:22, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Cheers. One day I might register, but I really can't be bothered at the moment. Yet another login to remember, etc. I'll see what I can do about the script. It's icky reading and parsing the official AFL site - I might just keep the scores myself and compare against my record. I'll see. Bst rgds. 83.104.25.51 (talk) 14:32, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Thankyou

Just a little note to say thankyou for participating in my successful RFA candidacy, which passed with 96 supports, 0 opposes, and 1 neutral. I am pleasantly taken aback by the amount of support for me to contribute in an administrative role and look forward to demonstrating that such faith is well placed. Cool subpage

Being the wikistalker I am, I noticed the subpage you created for the WikiSchool Xeno assigned. I think that is awesome, I wish I had done something similar. GL on the assignments, I found most of them very beneficial, and learned quite a bit, despite having been on wikipedia for some time already. My compliments on the subpage tho!

-Your fellow adoptee, Washburnmav (talk) 17:47, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Glad you like the page. I'm personally going to take my time completing the assignments. I'm glad they helped you, I hope they do the same for me. Lympathy Talk 12:35, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

re August 2008

I was not making unconstructive edits, merely undoing one correction so i could undo multiple edits that vandalised Olympic symbols. Thankyou for keeping an eye on te page though. Basement12 (T.C) 15:07, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Yes, sorry I realised the mistake quickly and fixed it. Lympathy Talk 15:09, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Octocorals

Please leave the list of prehistoric octocorals alone. I was working on it when you proded it and clearing up the very same problems that you proded it for in the first place! Please be more careful next time when using tools like Twinkle. Abyssal (talk) 17:20, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

I understand perhaps I should be careful but by the same token, you should ensure the page is tagged with an appropriate {{under construction}} sign as it appears to the visitor to be a list of unlinked articles. I thank-you for your edits and I will continue to watch the page and help out where I can but if the article doesn't improve I will re-instate the Prod. I apologize for the incursion, although it wasn't Twinkle, it was me that thought it needed fixing. Lympathy Talk 17:28, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Accepting Adoption Invitation

Lympathy, I would like to accept your offer for adoption! I have a number of questions, how/where would you like me to submit those to you? Thanks in advance for your time and help! Spirits Fan (talk) 21:39, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

It's great that you have lot's of questions. Probably the best place to ask them is here on my talk-page for the moment. Lympathy Talk 12:08, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks again for the offer to help. My main question is this. I have a better idea now about copyright sensitivity, but how would you suggest that I as an employee of the company that owns a brand upload photos that will definitely add value to the brand's article? I'm afraid that any additional work done on the article - however neutral, fact-based or credible - will be seen by the community as self-promotion. I hope that the dialogue I've had around unblocking my account and changing my username shows that I have the true spirit of collaboration and compliance in mind. Thanks for any thoughts. Also, fyi, I'll be traveling the next week so I will get back to you on my return 13.Oct.08. Cheers, have a good week. Spirits Fan (talk) 13:48, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia differs from other organisations by being open to anyone. With this brings complications in legality and copyright especially with images. The requirements for image uploads are more rigorous than other websites and are bound by strict policies which may make it difficult for you to upload the exact images you want without violating policy. To stay within regulations, it is likely you can only upload low-quality images that are non-free.

Here may be some areas of interest for you to read:

Your employer is irrelevant for this as it is a strict policy and their is no discrimination or lee-way. Lympathy Talk 14:15, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

WikiCup notice

The 2009 WikiCup will begin on January 1, 2009. The first round will run through March 31, 2009. For more information on this tournament, read the "about" section on the main WikiCup page.

This year, we have a different system in calculating points. At User:Garden/WikiCup/Submissions, you will find information about submitting your article (and other) work to earn points. Each contestant will have their own individual subpage for submitting completed work to us.

This year, User:ST47 will also be running one of his bots to calculate mainspace edits and read your submission subpages to calculate the point values you receive based on our scoring chart.

Questions or comment? Ask at the talk page or go directly to Garden or IMatthew's talk page. Good luck and Happy Holidays! -- ayematthew and Garden. 14:06, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
