Your GA nomination of 1970 World Snooker Championship
The article 1970 World Snooker Championship you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:1970 World Snooker Championship for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. I've added a fair bit the Hogs of War page and would love if you could look over it and tidy it up/point me forwards before I nominate for Good Article :)

- Hiya, thanks. I was planning on nominating it once I'd had a few minutes to check it over, so we can do a co-nom. I'll check it over later today. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 06:09, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
- So there are two CN tags that need fixing, and we need to expand the lede and reception somewhat. Otherwise, good to go. When you do nominate it, chuck my name in the comments and we'll do it together. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:58, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

WikiCup 2022 September newsletter
WikiCup 2022 September newsletter
The fourth round of the WikiCup has now finished. 383 points were required to reach the final, and the new round has got off to a flying start with all finalists already scoring. In round 4, Bloom6132 with 939 points was the highest points-scorer, with a combination of DYKs and In the news items, followed by BennyOnTheLoose, Sammi Brie and Lee Vilenski. The points of all contestants are swept away as we start afresh for the final round.
At this stage, we say goodbye to the eight competitors who didn't quite make it; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia, and we hope you will join us again next year. For the remaining competitors, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them, and importantly, before the deadline on October 31st!
If you are concerned that your nomination, whether it be for a good article, a featured process, or anything else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. The judges are Sturmvogel 66 and Cwmhiraeth. NPP Award for 2018
The New Page Patroller's Barnstar | ||
For over 100 article reviews during 2018. Thank you for patrolling new pages and helping us out with the backlog! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:41, 7 September 2022 (UTC) |
Here is a barnstar to show appreciation for the NPP reviews you did back in 2018. We realize this is late, but NPP fell behind in some coordination activities. We have just caught up with giving out deserved barnstars. Also, we notice you haven't been very active here recently, and hope you will consider increasing your participation. The backlog is relatively high and we could really use your help. Regardless, thanks again for your past effort. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:41, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
Question from Laynmin (19:28, 6 September 2022)
Is it wrong to update a Wiki page for an organization you work for? --Laynmin (talk) 19:28, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @Laynmin – As Lee Vilenski has no internet access as of the moment, I'll answer this for you: it is strongly discouraged for you to do that. If you update a wiki page for an organization you work for, that means you have a conflict of interest, and conflict-of-interest-related-editing is generally frowned upon. Why? Since you have a connection to such a topic, you may not be able to remain neutral, your tone could become promotional, and it will ultimately defy the purpose of such an article. If you truly wish to make such an edit, make a suggestion on the article's talk page using the template {{Request edit}}. Hopefully this helped. — 3PPYB6 (T / 1 YEAR! / L) — 14:39, 8 September 2022 (UTC)

FAC review of Olympics-related article
Hello Lee Vilenski! I will try to complete my review of the 2022 Masters article now. Update: done. Gave my support for FAC, great job.
I'd like to ask if you have time and interest to join the FAC review of our article about the Olympic seasons of Japanese figure skater and two-time Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu. I'd like to record a spoken version of it, but I want to wait for a content and prose check first. I am aware that the article is very long, so if you don't have the time and capacity to do a review, that's totally fine. However, we would be very happy about every small feedback. It was an awful lot of work to do the research and compile all the content. Thank you very much in advance. Henni147 (talk) 15:20, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
- No problem. Might take me a couple days, but sounds like fun. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:36, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
- Oh excellent, thank you very much! This article doesn't really have any equivalent in the figure skating or Olympics article space yet. It is totally unique that a skater's programs and their creation process get so much media coverage, but particularly for that reason we thought it would be very valuable for Wikipedia to have an example how figure skating programs are made (beyond the usual career and competition summaries).
- The page emerged from a split of Hanyu's bios page together with his list of career achievements, which has reached FL class already. Our team would like to get them together to a featured topic, and we are currently doing a full revamp of the bios page. Now that Hanyu has retired from competition and launched his professional skating career, this Olympic seasons page is not expected to change much anymore. So we thought, it's really worth to get it to FAC now and record a spoken version of it after the review. Henni147 (talk) 16:01, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
