Dumping Ground
Hi Danny
I put a note on the Dumping Ground page of List of episodes about series 4 episode 14 "Troll". I directed this episode and NOT Sarah Walker.
Please can you change it ? CBBC or Directors uk will confirm that i was the Director.
Thank you.

Pending changes
Hello DannyS712,
I would like to use this script when reviewing pending changes. However, when I see the pending changes, it only shows the diff, not the article with the changes implemented. Can an editor edit the my script so that it shows both the diff and article with the changes implemented? I don't know how to do it myself so I am asking for help. Hi Danny. Next time someone moves an article in the middle of an AfD, please just revert it and let the AfD run. We shouldn't let people draftify their own article just to make the AfD go away. – bradv🍁 16:08, 24 June 2019 (UTC)

Removing CCI diffs
Hello Danny! Thanks for your edits to CCI. Can you please remove the diffs and the (1 edit) text once you determine whether the edit was a violation or not (example)? It makes it easier to tell which articles have been checked off. Thanks, 💵Money💵emoji💵💸 16:26, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Money emoji: sorry, since I'm not a clerk I though I should leave them in case someone wanted to check my work --DannyS712 (talk) 16:29, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
- DannyS712, Don't worry, you don't need to be a clerk to remove them. If you want to leave them so someone can check your work it's fine, It doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. 💵Money💵emoji💵💸 16:32, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Money emoji: then yes, I'd prefer to leave them --DannyS712 (talk) 16:36, 24 June 2019 (UTC)

Undo script
Hello Danny, I think you need to update User:DannyS712/Undo script. About two months ago (as far as I can remember) after MediaWiki was updated to new version. Some features of the Undo script stopped working. While the basic revert feature still functions, notice on edit conflicts, intermediate edits and already reverted edits don't work any more. I am using Chrome dev 76. You can check it yourself. Looking forward to your reply . Masum Reza📞 09:01, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Masumrezarock100: I didn't write the script, I'm just ~maintaining~ it. I'll try to take a look soon --DannyS712 (talk) 09:01, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks. Also Thanks feature is still working without any issue. Masum Reza📞 09:04, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
- Hello I've contacted the script's original developer on meta for assistance. He has fixed the bug. I thought I should let you know. Masum Reza📞 12:11, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Masumrezarock100: would you be interested in taking over the script? --DannyS712 public (talk) 10:18, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
- Actually I don't think I will be able to maintain it. So I have to decline the offer. But you can contact the original creator on meta if you need assistance. Also I want to nominate it to be a gadget since the mobile version of Wikipedia doesn't have any undo feature(as far as I know). It meets the general criteria of a gadget. It has cross-browser compatibilities (I think the creator didn't test compatibility with other browser). I test the script with different browsers (so far Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Firefox). I think it's safe to say that it works with any mordern browser on mobile. This will benefit a lot of editors. Masum Reza📞 10:35, 28 June 2019 (UTC)

bot talk page edits
Please don't edit a bot's talk page unless you are doing it to intentionally halt the bot. It grows wearisome to have to log out of this account; log in to the bot account; clear the 'you have a message' flag; log out of the bot account; log into this account; log in the bot; restart the bot's task. I know that Editor Cassiopeia left another inappropriate message on the bot's talk page; why? because bot stopped. It is not necessary for you to follow that editor around doing cleanup. If you think that I didn't somehow get the message, leave me a note on my talk page but leave the bot talk page alone unless you intend (for good reason) to halt bot.

WP:CEN is now open!
To all interested parties: Now that it has a proper shortcut, the current events noticeboard has now officially opened for discussion!
WP:CEN came about as an idea I explored through a request for comment that closed last March. Recen research has re-opened the debate on Wikipedia's role in a changing faster-paced internet. Questions of WP:NOTNEWS and WP:Recentism are still floating around. That being said, there are still plenty of articles to write and hopefully this noticeboard can positively contribute to that critical process.
Thank you for your participation in the RFC, and I hope to see you at WP:CEN soon! –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 17:11, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

Thank you and question
Danny,
First off, thank you so much for requesting my request for a bot to work on the missing article project. It is very appreciated. I have concerns though about the abandoned draft section of the bot. It seems that the bot is not clearing anymore. For example, I have been clearing out Wikipedia:WikiProject Abandoned Drafts/Stale drafts/10 and the bot is not removing the red. Is there a way to trigger the bot or run it?
Thank you AmericanAir88(talk) 20:32, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
- @AmericanAir88: Hi. Sorry for the confusion - I haven't yet figured out how to use toolforge, so for now I trigger the bot manually (the edits are done via a user script). I generally go through a few times a week and clean out the stale drafts, and would do the same for your project. Hope this makes sense. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 20:35, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
- @DannyS712: Thank you. Is there a way for a user like me to use the script? AmericanAir88(talk) 21:07, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
- @AmericanAir88: I mean yes, you can, but you are then responsible for checking all of the edits manually - I would also need to add some logic to detect if the user is a bot, since the script specifies that edits should be marked as bot edits --DannyS712 (talk) 21:09, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
- @DannyS712: Of course. Safety is #1. How would I use the script? AmericanAir88(talk) 21:11, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
- @AmericanAir88: just import it like any other user script, but I would recommend that you not do this - it'll probably break when it tries to mark the edit as a bot edit --DannyS712 (talk) 21:12, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
- @DannyS712: Yeah, I wouldn't want to risk anything. Isn't the script really long also and not consolidated into one line? I have a train to catch so I have to go soon but is there a way to do it so it would not break? AmericanAir88(talk) 21:14, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
- @AmericanAir88: sorry, but as far as I know there isn't, and making the bot script non-bot-friendly isn't a priority for me. Don't miss your train though. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 21:18, 28 June 2019 (UTC)

That being said, there are still plenty of articles to write and hopefully this noticeboard can positively contribute to that critical process.
Thank you for your participation in the RFC, and I hope to see you at WP:CEN soon! –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 19:10, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

Patty Carreto revert
Hi there, yes, for some reason HG showed it as being blanked so I reverted it. But it seems like I reverted to the blanked version... odd. Thanks for the correction. -BloodDoll (talk) 23:18, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

New Page Review newsletter July-August 2019
Hello DannyS712,
- WMF at work on NPP Improvements
More new features are being added to the feed, including the important red alert for previously deleted pages. This will only work if it is selected in your filters. Best is to 'select all'. Do take a moment to check out all the new features if you have not already done so. If anything is not working as it should, please let us know at NPR. There is now also a live queue of AfC submissions in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to review AfCs, but bear in mind that NPP is an official process and policy and is more important.
- QUALITY of REVIEWING
Articles are still not always being checked thoroughly enough. If you are not sure what to do, leave the article for a more experienced reviewer. Please be on the alert for any incongruities in patrolling and help your colleagues where possible; report patrollers and autopatrolled article creators who are ostensibly undeclared paid editors. The displayed ORES alerts offer a greater 'at-a-glance' overview, but the new challenges in detecting unwanted new content and sub-standard reviewing do not necessarily make patrolling any easier, nevertheless the work may have a renewed interest factor of a different kind. A vibrant community of reviewers is always ready to help at NPR.
- Backlog
The backlog is still far too high at between 7,000 and 8,000. Of around 700 user rights holders, 80% of the reviewing is being done by just TWO users. In the light of more and more subtle advertising and undeclared paid editing, New Page Reviewing is becoming more critical than ever.
- Move to draft
NPR is triage, it is not a clean up clinic. This move feature is not limited to bios so you may have to slightly re-edit the text in the template before you save the move. Anything that is not fit for mainspace but which might have some promise can be draftified - particularly very poor English and machine and other low quality translations.
- Notifying users
Remember to use the message feature if you are just tagging an article for maintenance rather than deletion. Otherwise articles are likely to remain perma-tagged. Many creators are SPA and have no intention of returning to Wikipedia. Use the feature too for leaving a friendly note note for the author of a first article you found well made or interesting. Many have told us they find such comments particularly welcoming and encouraging.
- PERM
Admins are now taking advantage of the new time-limited user rights feature. If you have recently been accorded NPR, do check your user rights to see if this affects you. Depending on your user account preferences, you may receive automated notifications of your rights changes. Requests for permissions are not mini-RfAs. Helpful comments are welcome if absolutely necessary, but the bot does a lot of the work and the final decision is reserved for admins who do thorough research anyway.
- Other news
School and academic holidays will begin soon in various places around the Western world. Be on the lookout for the usual increase in hoax, attack, and other junk pages.
Our next newsletter might be announcing details of a possible election for co-ordinators of NPR. If you think you have what it takes to micro manage NPR, take a look at New Page Review Coordinators - it's a job that requires a lot of time and dedication.

Well done
I liked the way you handled the departure of admins for the upcoming issue of The Signpost. We needed something appreciative like that. Well done. ☆ Bri (talk) 05:20, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

Hello DannyS712, thank you for the quick revert to fix my mistake. I had misclicked with my fat fingers in the watchlist. GermanJoe (talk) 20:33, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
- @GermanJoe: no problem - I was a bit confused, since it is the second time you've done that to the page, and would have rolled your edit back, except rollback vs. rollback isn't a good idea. If it ever happens again, I'll know that it was just a mistake. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 20:35, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
- It happens when the watchlist is not fully loaded and I click a different item, while other elements are still loading in (and the interface is not fully stable due to the ongoing changes in display). I'll try my best to be more patient and wait a few more secs the next time. Sorry for the extra hassle. GermanJoe (talk) 20:39, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
- @GermanJoe: really, its no problem - I did the same to an actual user earlier today at the edit filter notice board, which is worse than rolling back a bot. --DannyS712 (talk) 20:40, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

- A request for comment seeking to alleviate pressures on the request an account (ACC) process proposes either raising the account creation limit for extended confirmed editors or granting the account creator permission on request to new ACC tool users.
- In a related matter, the account throttle has been restored to six creations per day as the mitigation activity completed.
- The scope of CSD criterion G8 has been tightened such that the only redirects that it now applies to are those which target non-existent pages.
- The scope of CSD criterion G14 has been expanded slightly to include orphan "Foo (disambiguation)" redirects that target pages that are not disambiguation pages or pages that perform a disambiguation-like function (such as set index articles or lists).
- A request for comment seeks to determine whether Wikipedia:Office actions should be a policy page or an information page.
- The Wikimedia Foundation's Community health initiative plans to design and build a new user reporting system to make it easier for people experiencing harassment and other forms of abuse to provide accurate information to the appropriate channel for action to be taken. Community feedback is invited.
- In February 2019, the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) changed its office actions policy to include temporary and project-specific bans. The WMF exercised this new ability for the first time on the English Wikipedia on 10 June 2019 to temporarily ban and desysop Fram. This action has resulted in significant community discussion, a request for arbitration (permalink), and, either directly or indirectly, the resignations of numerous administrators and functionaries. The WMF Board of Trustees is aware of the situation, and discussions continue on a statement and a way forward. The Arbitration Committee has sent an open letter to the WMF Board.

WikiCup 2019 July newsletter
The third round of the 2019 WikiCup has now come to an end. The 16 users who made it to the fourth round needed to score at least 68 points, which is substantially lower than last year's 227 points. Our top scorers in round 3 were:
- Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with 500 points derived mainly from a featured article and two GAs on natural history topics
- Adam Cuerden, with 480 points, a tally built on 16 featured pictures, the result of meticulous restoration work
- SounderBruce, a finalist in the last two years, with 306 points from a variety of submissions, mostly related to sport or the State of Washington
- Usernameunique, with 305 points derived from a featured article and two GAs on archaeology and related topics
Contestants managed 4 (5) featured articles, 4 featured lists, 18 featured pictures, 29 good articles, 50 DYK entries, 9 ITN entries, and 39 good article reviews. As we enter the fourth round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them, and it is imperative to claim them in the correct round; one FA claim had to be rejected because it was incorrectly submitted (claimed in Round 3 when it qualified for Round 2), so be warned! When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! My request at WP:VP/T
Hello again, dear DannyS712! I am writing you because of my previous request. I would have two small additional ideas for it as well. I would like to ask that if you have some time to build the requested tool. There is no problem if you are busy right now and you do not have time for me. Feel free to ask any question. Thanks for your time and have a good day! Regards, Bencemac (talk) 16:30, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Bencemac: oh my god I'm so sorry. I forgot. I'm coding it now --DannyS712 (talk) 16:34, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Bencemac: okay, I have a start at https://en.wikipedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/User:DannyS712/AfD.js. It currently loads on all pages, not just AfDs, but that is a simple change (its easier to test if I don't have to worry about the page name). You can try it out on the beta cluster (feel free to edit any page, its built for testing) and let me know what you think. You can also customize it - where do you want the script button to be located, and what do you want the (currently English) messages to be? Sorry this took so long --DannyS712 (talk) 16:54, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks! The closing works perfectly. I have the following things in my mind.
- If it is possible, similar design to Gadget-PermissionOTRS.js would be cool. Please see this example.
- A reason menu (like the picture) would be needed with default closing reasons. You can add Reason1, Reason2 temporary. It should be ON by default. I will ask my community to provide closing reasons.
- An empty text field would be needed for unique closing reasons.
- The output would be 1) + 2) --~~~~. At least one valid reason should be needed.
- Personally I would prefer the gadget at the left (Tools section) but I will ask my community.
- The gadget should be able to add the text bellow to the article's talk page (the name of the article can be found via the page name [Wikipédia:Törlésre javasolt lapok/PAGENAME]). It marks that there was a discussion about the article. It should be inserted at the end of the page (if the talk page does not exist, the gadget should create it). It should be ON by default.
== Törlési megbeszélés eredménye == {{Wikipédia:Törlésre javasolt lapok/PAGENAME}} |
- At the AfD page, the gadget should archive the discussion. I am not sure about that it is possible, but here it is. For example, our article is ARTICLE. The gadget should find ARTICLE and remove it (if there is no more in the paragraph, it should remove the paragraph too) and add it to the bottom. If there are more than X recently closed items at the bottom (always 10, for example), remove the last one. It should be ON by default.

User wants to rename his account
Hello DannyS712. This incident looks to be a user who wants his account renamed but is unclear on how to go about it. All his contributions stay attached to his old account name until such time as he gets the account renamed. The current instructions are at WP:CHU/S. Usually the account renamer takes care of moving the user pages as a routine part of the update. (A regular admin can't do this; the renamer has special powers). The person ought to be directed to WP:CHU/S. I'll try to ping User:Kjbavaro and User:Kjbavaro1. EdJohnston (talk) 21:44, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
- @EdJohnston: yes, I'm aware of the fact that the account wouldn't be renamed by moving the pages. But, since Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple wouldn't be the right forum, given the need to usurp the old account, I knew it would take a while to be actioned and saw no harm in moving the userspace pages in the meanwhile --DannyS712 (talk) 12:19, 4 July 2019 (UTC)

User:DannyS712 bot III
Could we get your patrolbot here to automatically patrol the talk pages of any user who's been banned? The logic being if they are banned, then an admin has sort of already reviewed their talk page (or another user has and already reported them). –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 19:47, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
- @MJL: Um, sure, should be pretty easy, but as far as I know I'm one of the few people who cares about patrolling non-mainspace pages --DannyS712 (talk) 19:50, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
- Well, the backlog is like a month long ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'd give a rousing speech about how you've been making a huge difference and how important the work is you do, but... my power just went out. I don't have Internet for the time being. –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 20:06, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
Bug report for User:DannyS712 bot
I did not see an explicit place to report bugs on the bot's page. If you'd prefer to move this elsewhere, please feel free to do that. In the following diff: [7], the bot uses a colon to "disable" categories, despite them being already commented out by HTML comment syntax (<!-- -->). Using the HTML comment syntax already disables the categories, and having the bot disable them by colons when already disabled that way adds extra work to reenable them if the article is moved to mainspace, and could lead to an error in not reinstating the categories if the AfC reviewer does not notice. The bot should recognize if categories are already disabled by that means and not insert the colons. Seraphimblade Talk to me 23:00, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Seraphimblade: The bot only edits AfC submissions if they are in the "AfC submissions with categories" category, as determined by Module:AFC submission catcheck. The HTML commented categories shouldn't have been flagged by the module - I'll take a look. Also, for reinstating categories, you can try User:DannyS712/Draft re cat. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 23:14, 4 July 2019 (UTC)

- Yeah, user talk probably shouldn't count :D. I'll be more careful next time (or won't use twinkle on user talks) -- Luk talk 09:00, 8 July 2019 (UTC)

Category tagging
Hey Danny, I remember you told me you could help with mass tagging of categories. Could you help me with tagging the categories that have "U.S." and "UK" in their disambiguation? --Gonnym (talk) 20:06, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Gonnym: sure - what do you want them tagged with? --DannyS712 (talk) 20:36, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
- If you can tag them with a speedy tag, as they are basically both C2B per Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (television)#RFC: What disambiguation should shows from the United States and United Kingdom use? and C2D per the follow-up bot run Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/TheSandBot 3 which fixed the article naming style. As the consensus has already been addressed and mostly carried out, this is just a technical procedure. --Gonnym (talk) 20:45, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Gonnym: okay, sure. You want "UK" replaced with "British" and "U.S." replaced with "American", for speedy renaming. Can you get a list of the categories to tag so that I can process it? (You'll need a list for listing it at WP:CFD/S anyway) --DannyS712 (talk) 20:48, 8 July 2019 (UTC)

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- For event organizers, if you request a temporary lift of the IP cap for mass account creation, this will now also raise the edit rate limit for those new accounts at the event, which will prevent another bottleneck. [8]
- Administrators at all Wiktionary, Wikivoyage, and Wikisource wikis are now able to use the new partial blocks feature. [9]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 9 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 10 July. It will be on all wikis from 11 July (calendar).
- The design of MediaWiki's software windows will change for desktop users. Layout will be simpler, buttons will be bolder and clearer, and close buttons will be just icons. This is like the mobile design. This will affect ContentTranslation, VisualEditor, TemplateWizard, and other tools. [10]
Meetings
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 10 July at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- Wikidata will be in read-only mode on 30 July from 05:00 to 05:30 UTC because of a server switch. [11]
- There will be a change in the name format of new Wikidata RDF dumps starting on 15 July. [12]

SPI page
The Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/TimesGerman was blanked by my impersonator who is following me everywhere. In fact, they are one of the suspected socks in the SPI. It will be helpful if you or one of your talk page watchers can keep an eye on the SPI page, as I will be logging out soon. Thanks. - NitinMlk (talk) 03:43, 12 July 2019 (UTC)

- Thanks for taking care of the SPI page. BTW, when I look at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Michaellko, I can see a line under the sockmaster's name, which contains the link of "archived investigations", i.e. this link. But I can't locate such link at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/TimesGerman, i.e. the line under the sockmaster's name is blank. Your user script would only work if it was added to minerva.js. I tried putting it into skin.js, but it didn't work. Nigos (t@lk • Contribs) 09:07, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Nigos: It doesn't work if you import it to other skin javascripts other than minerva because it is designed for mobile and Minerva is the only skin available for mobile interface. Help with a new script
I recently created a script that adds a Special:MassMessage link to the toolbox. The link is supposed to appear below the "Contact page" link, which it usually does, but sometimes it appears below the "Community portal" link instead. Do you know how to fix it?
The script is based on User:DannyS712/New pages feed.js, which may have the same problem. - ZLEA T\C 18:33, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- @ZLEA: I saw the script you wrote, but haven't come across the issue with mine. I'll take a look --DannyS712 (talk) 18:34, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- @ZLEA: Try getting rid of
$( '#n-recentchanges' ).parent().append( $( '#n-contactpage' ) );
completely --DannyS712 (talk) 18:36, 13 July 2019 (UTC)- I still have the same problem. - ZLEA T\C 18:45, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- I use your User:DannyS712/Pending changes script, which adds a link under "Community portal". Could it be interacting with that? - ZLEA T\C 18:47, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- @ZLEA: indeed - that is the cause. I had to add logic to that script to account for any conflicts with my new pages feed script, and to avoid conflicts with yours would mean adding 2 more branches (pc + npp + mms, pc + mms). Maybe there is a way to account for these automatically, but I don't know. That being said, I have an idea (that I will get to eventually) for creating a script that takes care of adding all of these links and more, based on a user json page (which would allow arbitrary links to be included). I'll let you know if I ever make it, but until then I guess it'll move around every now and again --DannyS712 (talk) 18:51, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks anyway. - ZLEA T\C 18:55, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- Also, I would like have the script check if the user is a mass message sender or an admin. If the user is not, then the link will not be displayed. Do you know how to do that? - ZLEA T\C 20:46, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- @ZLEA:
mw.config.get('wgUserGroups');
--DannyS712 (talk) 20:48, 13 July 2019 (UTC)- How do I use that? - ZLEA T\C 21:57, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- @ZLEA: it returns the user groups - see if they include admin or mass message sender. --DannyS712 (talk) 01:57, 14 July 2019 (UTC)

Draft:Ian Foote
I worked to made this page about this referee. Why this topic is not notable ? I added paragraphs and sources in French Wikipedia and the page was accepted to article space in French Wikipedia. I just translated all for English page. I added 2 videos in Bulgaria - France 1976 category. It can be sumbitted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 105.189.206.149 (talk) 14:46, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

Script request
Can you create a mobile version of this restorer script which will load on Special:MobileDiff subpages? I think you should be able to do it if you make it if you follow this User:DannyS712/Undo.js example. I am asking you because I am not that experienced in JavaScript coding. Thanks in advance. How does the thing with your bot reviewing redirect edits work?
I got a notification that your bot reviewed a redirect page I made. How does this work? Does it just automatically review every new redirect page? If not, how does it determine what to do to redirect pages? DemonDays64 (talk) 02:11, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
- @DemonDays64: its based on specific rules. For that one, because the only difference between the redirect page and the target page was the use of accents / diacritical marks, it is assumed to be uncontroversial to patrol. See User:DannyS712 bot III/rules for a list DannyS712 (talk) 02:44, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

DYK for XIX Army Corps
On 19 July 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article XIX Army Corps, which you recently nominated. The fact was ... that the XIX Army Corps represented Germany as it ceded Brest-Litovsk to the Soviet Union in the German–Soviet military parade (commanders pictured)? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/XIX Army Corps. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Request
Hi, Danny - I don't know if we already have a script that converts spellings in American English to British English and vice versa. If not, can you make one that will go through and spellcheck an article and correct only the misspellings as it relates to British ENG, such as organize to organise or recognize to recognise and vice versa for a 2nd script or option in the 1st? Check out this list, and please ping when you respond. Thanks in advance. Atsme Talk 📧 16:54, 20 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Atsme: There is already a post at Wikipedia:User scripts/Requests#Automatic American English, and an existing script for American->British (User:Ohconfucius/script). I'll try to take a look when I have a chance. --DannyS712 (talk) 17:53, 20 July 2019 (UTC)

I saw you responding to some requests. Please note: the WikiProject only accepts checks by users listed as verified proxy checkers. You can of course still respond when an IP is already blocked. --MrClog (talk) 20:50, 20 July 2019 (UTC)
- @MrClog: I understand that, which is why I haven't been marking requests as closed or anything, just giving my 2 cents. Is there a note I should leave to make it clear that I am not a proxy checker? --DannyS712 (talk) 20:51, 20 July 2019 (UTC)
- There is no note template or whatever, but I suppose a quick "(not a proxy checker)" disclaimer couldn't hurt. This isn't necessary when simply noting that a user has already been blocked. MrClog (talk) 20:53, 20 July 2019 (UTC)

Talk:Chairman (old)
Hi Danny, this needs to be moved back. It's the old talk page of Talk:Chairman. The history is already confused, and it will be worse if new titles are introduced. SarahSV (talk) 18:05, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
- @SlimVirgin: I disagree - if it should be kept with (old) in the name, it should be a subpage of the current Talk:Chairman. Otherwise its a talk page of a non-existent page, with an unlikely title DannyS712 (talk) 18:12, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
- If you want to move it to Talk:Chair (old), I would mind less. The issue is that there was more than one article/title, and therefore more than one talk page. Moving it to a title that never existed makes things even more confusing. It really should remain at the talk page to which the posts were made, plus (old), then listed on Talk:Chair so that people can trace the history. It matters with this article because of the numerous failed attempts to have it moved. I think future WP historians may find it interesting, but as things stand, they'll have a hard time locating it. SarahSV (talk) 18:19, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
- @SlimVirgin: reverted --DannyS712 (talk) 18:28, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you. There's a discussion about this at Talk:Chairperson in case you want to join in. Also, when I wrote above that I would mind Talk:Chair (old) less, I meant Talk:Chairperson (old). SarahSV (talk) 18:32, 23 July 2019 (UTC)

You got Mail :) "DG3 Rappers draft"
Hey Danny i know you reviewed my draft and it was declined i seen you left a comment to read about the links on how to more accuratley cover this subject. I didnt know if U could get your help on rewriting this article or editing this article. Also if you cant help me on the aricle do you belive that this page has the potiential of becoming a wikipedia page? The subjects were on national tv on The Maury Show and in a international music magazine. As well as being in the national magazine Hustlers Beaverhunt. They also worked with 2pacs producer. Im in hopes my draft could turn into a wikipedia page but I know that you seem very knowledable on wikipedia on edits and such. So I guess what Im asking is if you belive the subject could get a wikipedia page and if not why in details. Im new here so a little help could go a long way. Bot request for WikiProject Public Art
Thanks for offering to help! I'm curious about the possibility of changing uses of Template:WikiProject Wikipedia Saves Public Art and Template:WikiProject WSPA to Template:WikiProject Public Art. I don't want to change any assessments, I just want to stop having to manually change "WikiProject Wikipedia Saves Public Art" and "WikiProject WSPA" to "WikiProject Public Art" on talk page markup all the time. I realize these are redirected, so perhaps I'm just wasting my time, but this seems like an easy fix for a bot so we can avoid use of the redirects. What do you think? I'd love to follow along, seeing how/where you seek approval, see the number of changes made, etc., if possible. If this works well, I can think of similar requests. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:28, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Another Believer: that type of edit is unfortunately a cosmetic change, since the output of the template would remain the same. But, if there was a compelling reason to bypass the redirects, or if the bot was already editing the page, it might be okay --DannyS712 (talk) 18:32, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
- Bummer, I'll keep making changes manually. I was even hoping we could delete the redirect templates if we could determine they were no longer being used or necessary. Thanks for replying. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:34, 25 July 2019 (UTC)

# Article is in Category:Good article
- Article's talk page is in Category:Wikipedia featured article candidates
- Article's talk page is in Category:Good article nominees

- No, "Good_articles" is correct because "Wikipedia_good_articles" has the Talk pages. --- Coffeeandcrumbs 00:14, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Coffeeandcrumbs: sorry, the article category is a redirect, and I didn't realize the discrepancy DannyS712 (talk) 00:24, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
- Can you add one additional condition for me? Start with Quarry:query/37970 for August 1 and add one more condition that the article should NOT be linked from Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries/August 1. --- Coffeeandcrumbs 21:43, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Coffeeandcrumbs: Done, again at 36189 DannyS712 (talk) 21:47, 29 July 2019 (UTC)

Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot (7/30/19)
Note: All columns in this table are sortable, allowing you to rearrange the table so the articles most interesting to you are shown at the top. All images have mouse-over popups with more information. For more information about the columns and categories, please consult the documentation and please get in touch on SuggestBot's talk page with any questions you might have.
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly; your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please let us know on SuggestBot's talk page. -- SuggestBot (talk) 11:23, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
Dear DannyS712, i saw that you erased this category: Buildings and structures by architect - would you be so kind to explain it to me? I thought this was the perfect category for this article but it seems i was wrong? Kind regards, --Gyanda (talk) 00:53, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Gyanda: sure. That category is a container category that generally only contains the subcategories of each architect. Since it doesn't relate to a specific architect, I couldn't subcategorize it, and since it didn't seem directly related to the scope of the container category, I just removed it. Hope this makes sense --DannyS712 (talk) 00:58, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the explanation! Categories still are kind of a miracle for me :-) Kind regards, --Gyanda (talk) 09:18, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

MMS fixing bot
Today I was reminded that I am human when I sent an MMS with a mistake. Luckily the MMS was received by only 6 users (including myself) and was manually fixable, but nonetheless shows that I might send a faulty MMS to thousands of users. I remember you saying that you have a bot that can fix MMS mistakes. Could you tell me how to use that bot in case I mess up big? - ZLEA T\C 00:34, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
- @ZLEA: Its manually triggered using AWB - just leave me a note about what you messed up, and hopefully a correction edit or 2 for example. Something like:
- I sent a message to `foo`, and instead of `BarQBaz` it should have said `BarXBaz`
- Hope this makes sense, --DannyS712 (talk) 01:37, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

Open RM
Not sure how you're doing it, but you seem to be working against the open RM at Talk:List of Presidents of the United States#Requested move 27 July 2019. So far, several of the pages in the request have been prematurely moved and are now redirects, which as you know results in malformed requests. Paine Ellsworth, ed. put'r there 01:45, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Paine Ellsworth: it seems that there were competing RMs - I closed Talk:List of presidents of Costa Rica and moved the pages according. --DannyS712 (talk) 02:09, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- Gotcha... redirects have been removed from the still open RM. Thanks for the info! Paine Ellsworth, ed. put'r there 03:43, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Paine Ellsworth: No problem. Thanks for taking care of the cleanup. Sorry to bother you, --DannyS712 (talk) 03:45, 2 August 2019 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Deletion_process#Non-administrators_closing_discussions says: "Non-administrators should limit their closes to outcomes they have the technical ability to implement; for example, non-admins should not close a discussion as delete, because only admins can delete pages." Would you be so kind as to either revert your close or find an administrator that will complete the deletion part of it? This isn't like a page merge, where the page text can be replaced with a redirect - this category needs to be deleted, or someone else will start using it for something. --GRuban (talk) 15:32, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- For categories, Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Administrator instructions specifies that "If you are a non-admin, you will not be able to use the /Working page as it is protected, so do not close discussions that require any of the above 3 actions unless you are prepared to implement them manually, or an admin has agreed to help you." - an admin did agree to help me, see WT:CFDW#NACs. Cfd results aren't processed immediately, so I understand your confusion. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 16:34, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you! --GRuban (talk) 21:31, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
