General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: No - ?
  • Interesting: Yes
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Article was created on August 22, and nominated two days later. Length and sourcing are adequate. The article appears neutral in tone, and no plagiarism concerns were found. No images are used in the article. The QPQ requirement is complete. The proposed hook is interesting, but I am unsure on its sourcing. As per WP:DYKCRIT there must be a citation directly following the sentence(s) which support the hook. Also, the article does not use the word "boosted", but the hook does. More similar wording would be helpful to verify. Overall, the article is well written and a welcome contribution to Wikipedia. Flibirigit (talk) 21:43, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

  • @Flibirigit: This is confusing to me; the hook is cited in the article? This design was widely publicized into architectural press, and resulted in a number of higher-profile commissions for his firm, especially with educational institutions.[5], with a citation to Houser, as is linked here. And there's no requirement hooks be identical to the article body; I feel "boosted" is a perfectly fine summary of "resulted in a number of higher-profile commissions for his firm". The proposed hook is supported by two consecutive sentences, not just one sentence as quoted above. Specifically, the name of the magazine and a new building are both mentioned in a sentence without a citation. Both sentences require a citation as per WP:DYKCRIT. The wording "boosted his career" is subjective, and differs from the article which states "resulted in a number of higher-profile commissions". Receiving more commissions does not necessarily mean "boosting" one's career. This will be likely be challenged at WP:ERRORS. Best wishes. Flibirigit (talk) 13:43, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
Nosily scrolling the page and commenting on some older DYKs, I think Flibirigit is right on this one. The current hook wording "Pacific Architect & Builder boosted" implies that the magazine actively worked to boost Bumgardner's career in some manner following him designing their office. That's inconsistent with the article's wording, which says that the design got a lot of press and he got a lot of commissions as a result. There's no indication that PA&B actively worked to get him that press or those commissions. ♠PMC(talk) 21:39, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
Ahhh, I see the problem now. Let me do a reword. Generalissima (talk) (it/she) 13:16, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
Alt 1: ...that Albert Bumgardner's design for an architectural press office was highly publicized in the architectural press?
Approving ALT1. The hook is interesting, mentioned and cited in the article, and verified by the source. I have struck ALT0 as per concerns noted above. The nomination adheres to all other DYK criteria as per my review above. Flibirigit (talk) 13:36, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
