The Featured Article Medal
By the authority vested in me by myself it gives me great pleasure to present you with this special, very exclusive award created just for we few, we happy few, this band of brothers, who have shed sweat, tears and probably blood, in order to be able to proudly claim "I too have taken eleven articles to Featured status". That definitely didn't seem like a fair assessment, as Teratix mentioned two threads up. I had planned to elaborate my support rationale this morning, but woke up to a disappointing early withdrawal instead. I must not be a particularly good judge of communication, because apart from one or two comments snipped out of context by opposers, I didn't really find anything wrong in the surfaced diffs. A sizeable minority of the opposition seemed to be people who don't like hearing about their own shortcomings, with an additional subset of people reading diffs out of context and making assumptions based on limited information. At least it's over quickly, but still indicative of a community prioritising style over substance. Best wishes, and I'll try to do a better job in crafting an appropriate support rationale for your next attempt instead of what I did this time round. Some nominators would probably be good next time too if you ever decide to run again. Folly Mox (talk) 11:06, 27 September 2024 (UTC) -
The Featured Article Barnstar
This is probably the weirdest, nerdiest barnstar I have ever given (and probably will ever give), but you certainly brightened my day today so you are getting one :) Years ago (this was probably before I started editing Wikipedia?) I was watching a series by Extra Credits about Genghis Khan. I remember wanting to learn more about Hö'elün, and turned to Wikipedia to start my search off. This version is representative of what I got – four citations for further reading, and a complete lack of cited material. Today, someone made a comment to me about how Genghis Khan's mother has more descendants than he does, and so back to Wikipedia I go to look at how many children she had. In the back of my mind, I remembered how much the article left to be desired years ago. I click on the article about her, and I find a Featured Article. Thank you for listening to myrantstory, but more importantly, thank you for taking the time to write a quality article. Most readers don't have an easy way to thank the writers behind the articles, so I wanted to reach out and say your work is appreciated by at least one reader! I was talking to a friend earlier today, and I mentioned that I think you might be single favorite editor on the project at the moment—figured I should give this out! Your dedication to improving such a wide topic as the Mongol Empire is absurdly admirable to me. Many an editor has a pet interest, but your work trying to make sure the entire topic gets such a high level of quality should be a standard! Thank you for your work. The Original Barnstar
For sterling, meticulous, high-quality and long-term work on Genghis Khan, improved from this version in 2022 to a soon to be-GA and an FA candidate which should pass no problem, this is the epitome of what "particularly fine contributions to Wikipedia" should mean.
