Hi Anna, Thanks for your work on this new article. As I said on the gastropod project talk page today, it looks as though it may have been started with a COI problem, however I have been trying to rescue it and make it into something worth keeping. So, did you find that the author restored text that you had deleted? Invertzoo (talk) 20:57, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Susan. I thank you for your input. I guess we all knew the article would eventually be started. Hard to say about the COI, but you may be right. I can see it becoming a bit of a spam magnet.
- The creator added new content not related to cosmetics. He also restored cosmetic-related content. The first part is almost the same as the content I deleted, but with a different source that I cannot check. The second part is also the same as the content I deleted, but with a new, farily good source (I checked it). The third part is about the components of the slime, with an unreliable source.[1] I will remove that. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:06, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks Anna for your efforts; we can use all the help we can get! Invertzoo (talk) 19:44, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi anna,
thanks for the notice on deletion. I will be working on it. Is there a way to inform the editors that I am working on it? I will try state straight forward content and basically really dry descriptions. will also incorporate your suggested "competitor's view" more.
thanks

Hello. You have a new message at busybee007's talk page.
need you help
Hi,Anna, I'm a student from NNU. I want to upload a picture to the common wikipedia then I can use it in my new article Shangdong 'Zibo Experimental High School'. But I don't know how to unload. I hope you could help me with that. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aliceleelyq (talk • contribs) 08:34, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hello! Sure. If you own the photo you can upload it here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard
- If you took the photo from a website, then you don't own it, and so you can't use it. Good luck. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:11, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
The article Surfing Hainan Open has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- I created this, but now think that there are insufficient good sources. It may be best to recreate this article in a couple of years.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:58, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- What about redirecting it to a new list, List of surfing competitions? Viriditas (talk) 23:43, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- I was considering that. I shouldn't have started the stupid thing in the first place. I wasn't thinking straight. Maybe Surfing in China, or a section within surfing. I will take another look at List of surfing competitions after the weekend. I do think that may be best. Thanks for the input. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:27, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Waaah! Might need some monitoring here
Oh, dear Anna. Or "Oh dear, Anna" - depends how personal you want to get. I've just trawled through List of Ror. Never before have I come across a situation such as this: not a single entry in the list survived the cut. I've left what I hope is a fairly decent explanation at Talk:List of Ror but this one may make List of Ezhavas look like chickenfeed. Is there any chance of you assisting in the monitoring process? - Sitush (talk) 01:30, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
- Wow. Nice hatchet job. I will keep an eye on it. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:34, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
- I take no pleasure in cutting like that, but thanks. - Sitush (talk) 00:55, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- I know. I wasn't happy about my chop at Healthcare in India. But, it had to be done. Let's just hope the contributors to List of Ror restore content with good refs. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:37, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
Hi Anna, thanks for your notice... is it posible that it needs an article in wikipedia about a software, before I can put it in to the list (Comparison of project management software). Was that the reason for deleting the new input yesterday?

I am really surprised myself. They put the wording together from a huge rambling interview and so I can't take much credit for that at all. And my DH took the nice photo. Anyway, I hope the banner (whatever tweaked version(s) of it they use) continues to work well and triggers lots of donations. Invertzoo (talk) 21:05, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

Asking for FIleMover right on Commons
Hello Anna, I am not very experienced on Commons, but I would like to have FileMover rights in order to fix gastropod file names that were either misidentified or the ones that are now incorrect because of taxonomic changes. Since you have the file mover right, I was wondering if you could put in a good word for me here. Many thanks, Invertzoo (talk) 12:58, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
- Done...with pleasure. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:45, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the efforts on my behalf but I really don't mind waiting until I have a more impressive total of edits, even though I am already a "trusty" on here. I din't know I was supposed to have 1000 edits on Commons first. Thanks Anna, you're very kind. Invertzoo (talk) 21:29, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
- I tried a variety of tactics. Finally, I tried to humour them. They weren't amused. :) Oh well. My first request was rejected. Strange. questions for my articles
hello Anna! it's my first time to write to u. i hope it wouldn't be disturbing. i don't know whether this message works, but i just wanna have a try.
when i logged in today, i felt very depressed. because the recent two articles of mine both met some troubles. i thought maybe u could help me or give me some suggestions.
i wrote an article about a famous kind of brocade from Nanjing. it is called Nanjing Yunjin. Yunjin is the Chinese name of brocade. i don't know why it has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. the reason is it does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant. i think it is so famous in Nanjing.
what's more. another article of mine is being discussed for deletion. i am confused why this cannot be included in Wikipedia.
i really hope u can help me.thank u! i am looking forward to receiving from u.

Hi, Sorry I have made some mistake in using wiki. This is a requirement from me teacher to add sth to one article. Also, it is my first time to use wiki as well. I have add something to the chinese cuisine again. Please feel free to share your opinion. In china, vegetable seasoning and so on is not considered as Staple food. Only the things made with rice wheat are considered is. I have revised several time, but someone has just revised it back. Should I revise it again? As a chinese, I know several part of this page is not exactly right but the common sense is just like this. SO I guess just leave it. ceciliazcx — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ceciliazcx (talk • contribs) 20:25, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
- Yes. You can look in the history to find what you'd added and write in your own words. We are not even allowed to slightly change a sentence from another website, and use it. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:17, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
Page Editting Question
Hello Anna, I edited the article 'Chinese Cuisine' yesterday, and I added a section called 'Medicine Cuisine'. I just read your message in my talk page, I have no idea what I should put in this section other than those descriptions copied from the referenced website, because the description is quite correct. Can you give me some suggestions on editing this?DanqingLiu (talk) 21:29, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
- Sure. You must use the facts from the source, and write in your own words. We are not even allowed to slightly change a sentence from another website, and use it. The whole thing must be rewritten. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:03, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

More on "dynasty" vs. "Dynasty"
Hi Anna. I'm contacting all the editors who have commented on whether we should un-capitalize "dynasty" in wiki titles. Working with a template
Hi Anna, Because you really know how to use your very excellent brain (!), I am asking you this: I am currently working on improving and expanding expanding a National Lampoon template and I am creating articles for the red links where the things are notable. Do you know, is there there a way I can divide the template so that there is one major part of it for all the productions of National Lampoon (magazine) dating from 1970 to 1998, and then a separate part of it for National Lampoon, Incorporated a modern company dating from 2002? The first part would contain radio, theatre, books, recordings and films, the second part would contain radio, recordings, and films (including direct-to-video).
If there is not a good way of doing this then it may end up that there have to be two templates, but we want to try having it all in one template first. I also asked Ganesh this same question. Thanks Anna, Invertzoo (talk) 22:46, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Hopefully a second round ends the conflict! Since this was my first experience I feel pretty confident any other disagreement will seem reasonable. 8)

Thank you for your advice and I will improve my article. I want to know how to add pictures to my article and how to make my article in good order like other articles which are complicated and imformative.NNU-2-05100130 (talk) 15:16, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
- You are most welcome. The best way to find out how to improve articles, is to look at articles of famous or very notable things, like Horse or Chair or David Beckham. About images, maybe the image you want is already here. You can search for it. To add a picture to your article that is not already here, you first you need to upload it: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard Then you can add it to your article. how to add pictures
hello anna~could u please tell me how to add some pictures in the articles? --Michelle jx (talk) 10:40, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
- Certainly. If the image you want to add has already been uploaded to the project (you can search here), then you can simply add it by pasting this into the article (swapping in the right image name, of course):
- [[File:picture-of-a-bunny.jpg|thumb|right|150px|This is a picture of a bunny.]]
- If the image isn't already within the project, then you must upload it. You can do that here:
- Remember, if you took the photo from a website, then you don't own it, and so you can't use it. You must own the image. Good luck. Just let me know if you have trouble, and I will help. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:28, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

Jacupiranga State Park
Hello Anna Nice to see you "hiking" in the Ribeira valley ;) You wrote an article about Jacupiranga State Park (around 150,000 hectares). If Jacupiranga State Park is a State Park, then I wonder why {{Protected areas of Brazil}} template lists it as a National Park. pt:Vale do Ribeira#Parque Estadual Intervales states that pt:Parque Estadual Intervales, pt:Parque Estadual Carlos Botelho, Estação Ecológica de Xitué, pt:Parque Estadual Turístico do Alto Ribeira (PETAR), pt:Parque Estadual de Jacupiranga and Zona de Vida Silvestre da APA da Serra do Mar form the Paranapiacaba ecological continuum of more than 120.000 hectares. What do you think? P.S.: I see it now, portuguese version states too that Jacupiranga State Park has around 150,000 hectares and IUCN categorises it as National Park. Regards --Chris.urs-o (talk) 05:48, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Chris! Good point. Maybe it's both. What do you think, and what do you suggest? Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:46, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Hello, I think that I misunderstood it, the Jacupiranga State Park has around 150,000 hectares and the Paranapiacaba ecological continuum has more than 120.000 hectares. Maybe they are just different things, total area and ecological continuum. I was in Devil's Cave when I was under 20, that's why my interest. Regards --Chris.urs-o (talk) 07:53, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Oh dear. Paranapiacaba ecological continuum? Now I'm even more confused.
- It must have been nice in Devil's Cave. You are lucky to have visited it. I've been in a big cave in Thailand. Hundreds of thousands of bats fly in and out at dawn and dusk. A huge stream of them for a couple of hours non-stop. You definitely want to have a tennis racket with you at all times. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:19, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- I mean, it is stated that the parks listed above make in a way a continuum (a corridor) for fauna and flora, never mind. I was in Devil's Cavern around 1976-1977 and Carlsbad Caverns with bats and so, if I remember well. Two others in Switzerland as well, 1 n 2. If it interests u: if someone expects tropical Brazil and goes to Curitiba PR (altitude: around 900 m), then he gets a freezing cold shock; if someone expects cool south Brazil and goes from Curitiba to lower Ribeira valley (altitude: around 50 m), then he gets a subtropical jungle shock. It is interesting that in Curitiba, Ribeira valley, Carlsbad Caverns, London and Switzerland, u r always surrounded by calcareous formations, maybe it's my destiny ;o) --Chris.urs-o (talk) 10:51, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Only now I noticed it, u began with the article on Devil's Cave on 11 o'clock, 22.11.2011; 22:11 22.11.11 would have been even better, it's incredible, it was my birthday ... ;o) --Chris.urs-o (talk) 18:29, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

Sahiwal
I've done some digging, and I fear the situation is too messy for me to handle. Here's what I found:
- The "[1]" was first inserted into Sahiwal District in this diff.
- Sahiwal District was copy-pasted into Sahiwal Division in this diff
- The content was then inserted into Sahiwal by an IP.
I have reverted the IP's latest edit to Sahiwal, but the other two pages are more complicated. Sahiwal Division has been changed pretty signifcantly since the copy-paste. Do we still revert to the pre-copyvio version in these situations? Or are we supposed to try to revert and then insert any legitimate changes (groan)? I'm not sure whether the original insertion into Sahiwal District is a copyvio--Google wasn't very helpful, and that page has had even more changes. I think we should:
- Revert Sahiwal Division to the pre-copyvio version for the time being. I'm not sure how this can best be done, so I haven't done it.
- Get the three articles merged or their scope properly defined.
- Do something about the original insertion? I don't know.
I have left a note on User talk:JunaydAnwar asking them not to copy-paste without attribution. As a sidenote, while digging through the history, I found that earlier versions of Sahiwal District were far cleaner and better-structured than the current version. :( Ah well. wctaiwan (talk) 11:08, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Jeez, what a mess. The original text was added by User talk:Drfighar who has a history of copyvio. Google shows matches everywhere. Since it was long ago, it could be content taken from WP, but I don't think so because it was added in a lump to begin with.
- Without looking it up, I'm sure our policy is to zap any content that is verbatim copyvio. If it's been tweaked since, then it may now be okay, but I doubt it. There are likely whole strings of verbatim. So, do we pick through it, or revert? I guess we can inspect it. If you want to bold revert to a cleaner version, that would be fine with me. But, you've done enough, so I can look after it. Damn. This is the second one today.[3]
- Thank you so much for your help. I will dig some more into his contribs and see if there are other cases. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:59, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

- JunaydAnwar (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log) · investigate · cuwiki)
- Update
I removed huge chunks from division and district. Some, but not all could be proved copyvio. But, large blocks of well-written text with some verbatim copyvio is good reason to remove all.
Dug into JunaydAnwar and found more in other articles and removed.
Nothing further found from Drfighar.
Case closed as far as I'm concerned. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:13, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

The Yellow Dog of Lao Pan
Can you read Chinese news reports? I wonder if you'd be interested in creating an article about The Yellow Dog Of Lao Pan. Great story, Google News "Lao Pan"! Chrisrus (talk) 02:26, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- Ah soooo sweeet. I remember another such dog here a few years ago. This is why dogs are the best animals ever. Note the resemblance to Hachikō.
- I think it may be a bit early for an encyclopedia because it's more news than history at the moment. What do you think? Should it be an article? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:29, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- Well, it is news at the moment, but I'm not sure that's a problem. I went ahead and added it to the ambiguously named "List of dogs". There, under "faithful dogs" there are several other such famous dogs, such as Hachikō, Shep (American dog), and Greyfriars Bobby, which have articles, leading me to think this dog is destined to have one as well. So I suppose if the logic is, "let's wait until it's proven that this will still be famous in a perminent way", I suppose it might fade into obscurity, but geez do ya really think so? Other such stories that have happened seem to have had serious legs. It does mean that, if more detailed reports don't appear or can't be found, there's not a lot to write, so it would be a quite short article. That's when I thought of you, because I have this idea that you might know Chinese and be able to check Chinese sources and see if there isn't more out there citable to know/add to the article for the reader. Like, for example, what was the dog's name? Assuming it ever had a name or if it did if anyone ever heard him call the dog by it's name. That's just an example. So I wonder if the Chinese media have any more detail about the dog. But I think this story definately has "legs" because it's only a week old and has been picked up by tons of major media sources. Chrisrus (talk) 02:39, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- The thing is, what if the dog decides to leave next week? The other dogs were there for years. Lots of media coverage makes it notable, but the flash-in-the-pan potential makes it news. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:46, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- Understood. But please if you would like to, keep an ear out over there as you may have access to more information which we do not, and keep in mind and where it might fit into the wikiproject. Chrisrus (talk) 03:08, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

- Schluuuurp....ahhhhhh. Thank you. :) Just what I needed. Actually, just what I needed last night. It was the end of a long session, and I was rather careless. I could have even found the 4 articles in your contribs. I saw his last 4 legitimate edits, put two and two together, and came up with 4....the wrong 4. :) I'm very sorry to have had an accusatory tone.
- Now, I'm so curious how those 4 got created. The names certainly sound like a computer made them up. I've never seen anything like it the whole time I've been here. What do you think? Best wishes, my friend. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:41, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- You're welcome. :) Not to worry, Anna, you didn't come across as accusatory at all, and everyone can get a little confused - after all we're only human. The article titles created look like names, possibly of Asian decent. Ta'heed is indeed an Asian name (Though WP doesn't have an article on the name, so I think that [citation needed] is appropriate here) and the word Bharat also sounds Asian, so perhaps the user may have created the pages - why though escapes me. I think we're only going to find out if User talk:Bharat.jat1 tells us. Thanks for pulling me up about the Zhao Yihuan article though - I did place a few cleanup tags on there last night and they have been removed as of this morning with little improvement on the article. Perhaps we should see what the community think and AfD it - what do you think? Yours, Osarius : T : C : Been CSD'd? 11:30, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

- Osarius: Cheers to you. Yes, the whole time I was asking myself "What am I missing here?" Anyway, thanks for your understanding.
- Asian name maybe, but creating a talk page? That's strange. I'm so curious what Bharat.jat1 will say. Maybe his kid sister got hold of his PC. :)
- T'was I who cleaned up Zhao Yihuan and removed the tags. I think I caught most of what needed to be done. I don't know what "pulling me up" means, but you deserve no criticism for that call. I make those sorts of judgement calls all the time. That one hovered around the line, so no big deal.
- Actually, that's how I found you. The creator is part of the Wikipedia:WikiProject China/NNU Class Project from Nanjing University. A group I am helping out with. They are sometimes a little sloppy in their work. The thing is that these subjects are often highly notable. Zhao Yihuan is probably the Chinese equivalent of a lesser Miley Cyprus, or whatever she's called. The trouble is that the sources are Chinese, and so hard to evaluate in terms of credibility. And, many of these sites are awful. Anyway, the article would probably survive any sort of AfD, but I have no objections to a proposal. It would only prompt a search for more refs. Best wishes, my friend. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:47, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

User from a Chinese class project
Hello Anna:
I'm Tracy from a Chinese class. I appreciate all that you have done for us. And I hope that we can help each other to improve in the future. Here I've got a question to consult you. It's about putting pictures into the articles. I'm not sure about the source of the pictures because I just saw it online and downloaded it. I know that pictures that are put into the articles should have clear sources. So I can't add it to my article, right? So how can I ensure my pictures can be legally added?
Thank you very much. And I hope to receive your answer soon.
Best regards, Tracy — Preceding unsigned comment added by NNU-02-05100129 (talk • contribs) 15:49, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
- Hello Tracy. Welcome. Almost all pictures found on the Internet are copyrighted. That means somebody owns it and you can't use it. If you can tell me the exact website where you found the photo, I can check. But almost always, you cannot use such photos. I hope that helps answer your question. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:48, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

- Terror? You've been reading too many Camilla novels. :) :) :) Don't worry. The form is just a template to which you add information. The only thing that gets deleted here is articles that are not notable, and images that are copyrighted. All of Camilla's novels are notable, so don't worry about that. As for images, if you upload book covers to Wikipedia (not Wikicommons), and provide the information in the big box like this, then you are safe. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:20, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Cognitive Computation
Hi there,
Thanks for the edit/comments. Here are my replies:
A. I am afraid, I would not agree about notability. See, in notability guidelines for Journals, a Journal is notable since it is indexed in a large number of Bibliometric Indices. This one is indexed by a large number of databases including Thomson Reuters Master List, who release the yearly JCR Impact factor. Once a journal is indexed, exactly one year from the indexing date, the journal is given an impact factor. B. The text was not meant to be promotional. Actually I copied-pasted the Journal scope from Springer's website introducing the Journal and give its original link. Can you kindly go to the site and verify yourself? Thanks. Here is the actual words from Notability guidelines: "The most typical way of satisfying Criterion 1 is to show that the journal is included in the major indexing services in its field. Examples of such services are Science Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index, and Scopus.". http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(academic_journals) As such, this journal is listed in the Science Citation Index. C. Incidentally, my source for the Journal infobox was another Journal article page that I had started earlier and was accepted. Please see Wiley-Blackwell's European Transactions on Telecommunications Page. :)
Thanks so much for the time anyways. Based on the above, I feel that the article is appropriate for Wikipedia as it is. (e.g. Thomson Reuters listing and Wikipedia notability guidelines for Academic Journals). As such, please let me know your thoughts and how should I proceed next. Thanks.

Anna how do you upload bookcovers to Wikipedia-it seems to go to Wikicommons? I'e got the template like on The Preacher-the one that you sent so I know where it goes but I'm scared i'm going to get nasty red messages saying I'm going to be barred from downloading any more. Can you use the address without loading it to the hard drive? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.162.194.184 (talk) 06:15, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- Step one: Don't worry about red boxes. I get them. But we laugh in the face of red boxes! (usually)
- Step two: Download the book cover to your hard drive.
- Step three: Rename the file on your computer . (Example: Big Book of Bunnies - book cover 01.jpg)
- Step four: Upload the jpg here
- Step five: Add the image to the infobox at the appropriate article.
- Step six: There is no step six! Ha! See how easy it is! Only five steps! Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:31, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

Brandon /Jimmy et al are too white. I'm Anglo-Saxon English blue eyed-they still terrify!!! Anna please tell Mr. Wales & the boys that you ought to have a black African/ Asian person amongst the gang. If you want anything 'ethnic' to part with their hard earn't ackers then they ought to be represented. - Who's Brandon /Jimmy? There are many, many Wikipedians from all over the world. For example, people from India love the project and make plenty of excellent contributions. And China is now starting to discover Wikipedia. But, I think most editors are white, male, and from developed nations...I think. :) :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:25, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
This is a hegemony Anna-a white male supremacy. Machismo boisterousness. Jimmy invented Wikipedia no one can take that away from him, but they should put some Africans in, or Chinese, as you say. They see white & it's a host of terrifying reactions. I wish you could see white people thru black eyes-these are the children of those that have made them slaves, people that call them n****gers or worse. They live with racism constantly!!! I don't trust whites & I'm white myself!!!How much worse for 'blacks.' Please if you want blacks to contribute put one overhead like you have done with Jimmy's photo. This isn't a criticism of Wikipedia. I use your service daily-it's contribution to my life is inestimable. --Lenin42001 (talk) 05:26, 29 November 2011 (UTC) Just trying to make you more dosh that's all. Lenin42001
- Interesting points. I must say:
- Dosh? Who's making dosh? And isn't dosh really just a chickpea dish?
- There are plenty of non-whites here. Look at these usernames.
- More and more I have an aversion to the term "black". I think in a hundred years we will shudder when we hear it. To me, it's as insulting as "Negro" because it means the same thing. I hope one day the word "Afro" will be claimed and kept. It describes the region, much like people from the Caucasus region, and from Asia.
- I think "white" people dominate because they got power first. Historically, whatever group or individual finds itself at the top of the hill first, usually puts a boot on the other's neck in about 2 seconds. People in general are rather nasty animals. The word "humane" is a misnomer. The word should be "dolphane" or something.
- Good point about the fundraiser images. I've only seen white people. I'll dig into that and open a can of worms if it's true. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:57, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
- Follow up: There are many differently coloured people. They range from very dark, to almost invisible. See here. They are just working out how to make different banners appear in different regions. It's a new thing, and they're working hard to sort it out. Good. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:13, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

- The list name is barebones, but that may be best. I can't thing of anything better.Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:51, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
- It might interest you to compare List of Dogs with List of apes, List of cats, List of pigs, List of horses and any others you might find and care to give a glance. There are some differences, and I think you will agree that List of dogs isn't the best. Many of these individual animals should have articles. Chrisrus (talk) 04:52, 27 November 2011 (UTC) List of elephants.
- I assume the reason that my first thought, that they should be called "List of notable (animals)", was not settled upon might lie in the fact that every article on Wikipedia has to be notable, so it goes without saying. But still, "beagle boxer pug" is also a list of dogs, as is "Snoopy Rin Tin Tin Lassie", so the title is just not as descriptive as it could be. So I still prefer "list of famous animals" to "list of animals".
- Each individual animal without an article should get a redirect to its place on the list, don't you think? Is there a bot for that? Chrisrus (talk) 04:52, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
- I typed "List of notable" in the little search box there on the left and found many articles that start with those exact words. Chrisrus (talk) 15:38, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not too concerned with the presence of the word "notable". If you are, you can pursue it. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:11, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Fido (cane)
- I like the idea of making some of the "Don't have" items into articles. I will read up. Thanks for drawing my attention to this. These are the things I like. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:51, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
- I want to work on Fido (dog) tonight. I'm just tonight going to swipe it directly from the Italian Wikipedia, here: [4]. I think I'll just go make it on the talk page of that article, which doesn't seem to be watched but if it is maybe I'll find some help. I was hoping you'd like to stop by sometime. I'm just planning to run a Google translate tonight and then work on cleaning up the machine translation there as I can. What's the best one, Google Translate is what I always use, but maybe there's a better machine translator. Chrisrus (talk) 04:52, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

- I like the idea of making red or blacklink items redirect to the lists. I don't know that a bot is necessary. Just a few macros and a bit of commons sense. If you want to give me a list, I can do it in 5 minutes. Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:28, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

- Awesome. Thanks! Chrisrus (talk) 15:28, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
An editor recently told me that responding by interjecting comments anywhere is wrong -- that all replies should come in a group at the bottom. I don't know if that's right, but it sounds wrong. From what I understand, if it's below a signature, it's fine. But, I know that splitting up others' posts by inserting comments within is a no-no. Melonbarmonster pointed that out to me ages ago. In this case I don't mind because: 1) it's helpful, and 2) we're friends. But, others may strongly object if you do it on their talk pages. If that happens, just plead insanity, vandalize the talk page of an article you created with "this article is tripe!", and trout your own page. The complainant will usually back off after that. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:11, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
I'm trying to fix some problems here User:Chrisrus/Fido (dog). Chrisrus (talk) 03:53, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

More template questions
Hi Anna, I noticed that an IP-address editor a few days ago changed the seashell template by putting it into the class "plainlist" which removed the pale background. Any idea why that might have seemed like a good idea? To me it looks uglier now. Should that edit be rolled back, or what?
Also, since you know more about templates that I do, can I ask you about this template on National Lampoon stuff? A few weeks ago it much smaller, with maybe one third as many links, but in that time I have added about 40 new stubs that fall under this topic. There are a few more to add that I have not done yet. My main question: is this template way too big now? Does it needs splitting into two or more templates?
Very best wishes to you, Invertzoo (talk) 15:36, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Susan,
- Seashell: I think you should revert. I can't seem to see the pale background issue. It may be my monitor. But I don't like the tiny bullets with plainlist. I like big bullets. Some editors keep shrinking them, but I like them big.
- Lampoon: I've read a few things about the splitting of navboxes being good. Often, it's good. But, I think your navbox is perfectly navigable as it is, and comprehensive to boot. Because it is about a franchise, I think it should stay as one. Putting in the divider line might be a solution. It's your baby, and so, your call. I trust your judgement. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:30, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Anna. I rolled back the seashell template. The National Lampoon template isn't exactly my baby. It was first created in a much shorter form by someone who was blocked after only 4 weeks on WP and who was using several sock puppets. I believe that person had been hired by the modern, post-2002 company to make their Wikipedia coverage more impressive. I tried to rescue the template by expanding it greatly to make it comprehensive. The original stuff from 1970 to 1985 was brilliant. Then the magazine was kept alive barely until 1998. When it was sold, for 15 years they just franchised the name out. And then in 2002 the modern company bought it and are making absolute drek. It's hard to know what to do with the template really, but I could not let it stand the way it was, even though I had to make 40 or 50 stubs to fix it. If you have any brilliant ideas let me know. Best, Invertzoo (talk) 13:06, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
P.S. I took out your little bit of markup around the nowiki segment because for some reason it had prevented word-wrap on your answer and my answer.
- You did a great job on the navbox and stubbing the missing topics. The navbox is big, but very nice to be able to see everything at once, in an organized way. I you're still keen on some sort of way to avoid the wall of blue, consider making background or some other subtle colour changes to show different parts. Because all info in the navbox is useful to all National Lampoon articles, splitting it probably won't make sense.
- I see somebody reverted the seashell template back to the strange list form. I will take another look at both versions side by side, and see what's up.
- Thanks for removing the stray code on my talk. It was just a missing < on a nonwiki. All the best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:19, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
Hi Anna! I'm a NNU student, I need your help! After I made some improvements about My article "Sheng Aiyi", why the warnings still exsist? Is there still anything wrong with my article? Would you be so kind as to help me solve the problem?
Kind regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NNU-10-03100303 (talk • contribs) 10:21, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- Don't worry. The article needs a few other articles to link to it, and it needs a bit of clean up, but it's quite alright. I will take another look at it. Regards, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:25, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
Nice work on shoulder pole. Fram (talk) 10:46, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks Fram! :) Any view on the page move to Carrying yoke posted at talk?
- Oh, now that you're here, does that wiktionary template mean move or copy? I mean does it mean that the article shouldn't be an article? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:49, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, the template means that whoever posted it believes that the article is nothing but a dictionary definition, and that the article should be moved to wikitionary (and removed from Wikipedia, or turned into a soft redirect). Of course, whoever placed that on the shoulder pole article was mistaken ;-) As for the move request, I looked a bit at the article and possible sources yesterday, and noted that e.g. shoulder yoke is also often used, as are other terms. I have no firm opinion on what would actually be the best term for it, it looks as if Carrying pole is even more common, and used by reliable sources as well[5]. Fram (talk) 10:58, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
- I was sure the template said "copy" and not move. That's what confused us. We were trying to figure it out on IRC. I think nobody was sure.
- I'm actually seeing the greatest number of images at commons cat Carrying yokes. I'm not sure if that means much. Hmmmm. Oh well, it will find its home. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:15, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
Chicken Little
I'm not in the habit of verifying the reliability of sources used in lists like "list of fictional birds" or of verifying that the sources demonstrate notability. Frankly I have very little knowledge of which sources would be considered reliable in this context. Thank you for adding the ref, though. That's good enough for me. If some other editor challenges the entry later on RS or WP:N grounds then it won't be by me. :) -Thibbs (talk) 02:04, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
- Ha ha ha. Thanks. :) Who really knows what a good ref for Chicken Little is? Frankly, I was a little chicken to restore it. :) What we do know is 1) He was a chicken. 2) He was little. 3) His pilot's license said "Chicken Little". Good enough for me. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:55, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
copy/paste issye
Hello, being a new member here on wikipedia i was not very much aware of policies. In few of my work in did copy paste like in Government Post Graduate College Sahiwalbut it does not mean that every article i edited or wrote was copied. Sahiwal Division is one of those articles on which i have deep research and have read many books. i did not copy pasted anything these. and the information that i took from other sited i gave the reference for that. i don't know why you deleted all that part written by me. if you find any issue, you can label that article for discussion but please do not delete everything. it takes a lot of energy and time to write an article and when you delete it this way, it really discourages especially new users. thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by JunaydAnwar (talk • contribs) 07:44, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
- I'm sorry that I removed your hand-written good content. However, You just restored this edit. Please don't. You cannot copy paste huge blocks of content from other articles. I will check your other recent contributions. I do hope you haven't simply restored all that content. I hope my talk page stalkers are watching, and can help with this a bit.
:To clarify: I reverted an entire string of edits you made to several articles. I did so because some or all was copy pasted in each article. I did not want to pick through it all. Some was references to books or sites I could not access. Once I saw that you had done this with several articles, I no longer felt that I should take the chance that some content in a large block with unaccesible sources was not copyright violation. I just removed the whole lot. You will find this with other editors too. When some of the content is copy pasted, the assumption is that the rest may also be, and the whole string is reverted. As you did this with several edits, I just went through your contributions, looked for copyvio, and when encountered, removed the whole block. The onus is on you to provide good content, not half good content. By the way, it took me most of an hour. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:42, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
- (Sorry. I was thinking of this editor. These both happened around the same time, and I got them mixed up. In the Sahiwal case, which is your case, it is about copying huge blocks from other articles. Those blocks contained lots of copyvio content. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:50, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
- both Sahiwal Division and Sahiwal District are hand-written articles by me.. you deleted both of them, i dont know why. i wrote both of these articles side by side. and as both of them have many things in common so i wrote for one and also put it into 2nd articles. I don't understand what's wrong with that. please explain me the reasons properly if you do have. How can you put someones hard work into bin. The previous articles was really bad written with wrong information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JunaydAnwar (talk • contribs) 06:52, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- Sahiwal, Sahiwal District and Sahiwal Division all are interrelated sharing lot of thing in common. Before my work, these articles were really messed up. i organised them creating the linkage between them for the better understanding of the reader. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JunaydAnwar (talk • contribs) 07:08, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- and one thing more, as previously all these were really messed up and were poorly written, they, at beginning, made me to face troubles organizing them. i had to make lot of editing and shifting of my work from one to other article. As i was a new user, it was not possible for me to write everything in one edit. So while evaluating my work, do not JUST see the history especially in these three confusing articles.thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by JunaydAnwar (talk • contribs) 07:25, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- I'm really sorry if I've deleted your handwritten content. Let's work on restoring it.
- Again, please understand, when part of a block of content is copy pasted from somewhere else, it is removed, and confidence of being handwrittein in the other part becomes very low.
- So, please, let's go back to the earliest addition of content. Did you read the "See also" link above? It seems that the earliest insertion of problematic content was in this edit. I'm really confused about this. The content you added there googles to lots of places, and so may be copy pasted. Also, the content contains "[1]", indicated that it came from somewhere else on Wikipedia, or was copy pasted from another source. Please tell me where you got that content came from. That would be a start. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:08, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- the edit you mentioned in your last message is not done by me. i started working on wikipedia from October. and one thing i hope you already know is that many sites copy pasts information from wikipedia for their sites. so if you see results on google it does not essentially mean that wikipedia editor has copy pasted from other sites. i hope there would be some more sophisticated mechanism to investigate this sort of problem. JunaydAnwar (talk) 16:28, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, you are right. It was added by Drfighar, but later copy pasted to other articles by you. Forgive me, but this is really confusing. I don't know where that content originated, but it appears to have been copy pasted due to the hard "[1]" in the text. I tried to find it at Wikipedia, but could not. I don't know where it came from.
- Maybe there is an easy solution. Because there is content copied from one article to another, with your writing mixed with copy paste content from you and others, maybe it would be best for you to look in the articles' history. There, you can recognize your content. Really, you know best which you copy pasted, and which you wrote. This would be much easier for you to figure out than me. I've tried, and I keep going round in circles. Here's a good plan:
- Look in the histories and separate your content from the copy paste.
- Restore your content to articles.
- Please try not to verbatim duplicate whole paragraphs in different articles. Generally, the content should exist in one article, with links to the others. What I encountered was whole groups of sections verbatim copied. That's probably not a good idea.
- Many thanks, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:58, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- A question about the content you just restored here: Did you write all of that? Was any of it copy paste? Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:06, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- actually i did not create any of these articles. i just started editing keeping some of text which was already there and as far as i remember this [1] was already there. but i'm not completely sure.. and yeah i know which part is completely written by me and which is contaminated but i have no idea how to restore partially. can you please guide me? thanks
- Hello. Please clarify what you mean by "... just started editing keeping some of text...". I don't understand.
- If you know which parts were created by you, then the easisest solution to this problem is for you to go to the last version before I reverted, click edit, and copy the content which is yours. (See "Information about the articles in question" below). You can then add that content back to the current version.
- Information about the articles in question
- I made the reverts around 13:20, 23 November 2011 and 03:04, 24 November 2011
- Kasur - In this edit I removed content pasted from here.
- Sahiwal District - Last version before I reverted here.
- Sahiwal Division - Last version before I reverted here.
- Government Post Graduate College Sahiwal - copyvios added by you from here. Last version before I reverted here.
- Note: When you edit, it's always a good idea to look at the result after you click save. Each time you write to me, you simply add the text to the bottom of the page. Please add it to the bottom of the conversation we are having. Also, try to use colons (:) to indent each reply. Click edit and inspect our conversation to see how. Hi
Hi thanks for the message,
I would actually like some help thanks for asking. I am wishing to make a wikipedia page for a body builder who is prestigious in Australia and wish to include a photo in that wiki page. Therefore I will need to do 10 edits, and have been a member for 4 days in that correct.
I have made like three edits so far, can you somehow check to see if these edits are correct and only need 7 more then I can become a proper member who can upload pics.
Is this possible to be done by 25 december as this is when i wished to have the wiki site live, or is there other things I will need to consider?
Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Signomi1 (talk • contribs) 02:43, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- Hello and again, welcome. First, the subject Harry Haureliuk appears notable. I see good references out there. I suggest digging up as many as you can, and adding them to the article before moving it to the mainspace.
- As for the image, I think you should be okay now. If you have trouble, drop me a line and I will help. You can also get instant online answers here: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#wikimedia-commons
- Remember that you must own the image. If you took the photo from a website, then you don't own it, and so you can't use it.
- So, if you own the photo, you can upload it here: :http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard
- Just let me know if you have trouble, and I will help. Good luck. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:00, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Anna,
- Thank you for the reply.
- I have only made 3-4 edits so I don't know is it possible to upload an image first. Also the image I do have copyright, because I personally know Harry and he has told me to use his photo. I go to the same gym as Harry.
- I am working in the article offline for now, of course until I have enough references then I will put it online and hopefully with a little bit of your help.
- Thank you again Anna,

your personal crusade
Follow your own advice and stop your own personal crusade of interfering with my userspace. That stuff has been there for years (since 2006 in fact). You people don't know the facts, don't know the history behind it, don't know this issue was resolved long ago. Go write some articles and stop wasting my time--NWA.Rep (talk) 09:50, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- Your userspace is part of Wikipedia, as is User:Jiang's. It's public. I don't care about the history. I need only read WP:UP#POLEMIC, see your userpages, and have the common sense to see that it can chase others away. That could cost the project many thousands of edits. And for what? So you can make a statement? Plus, you've redirected literally millions of keystrokes away from the mainspace with this.
- I guess the bottom line is this: do you care about the project? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:14, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- The bottom line is I complained about Jiang's userpage as a passionate newbie to everyone who would listen. All the powers defended me and told me it was allowed. I was disillusioned and left at the end of 2008 but come back to run for ArbCom. I don't deserve this. But the bottom line is this, get Jiang to remove his anti-Taiwan, pro-China invasion content than I would get rid of my pro-Taiwan anti-China banner. No double standard. No hypocrisy. Go read the diffs before you come back and talk to me [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13]--NWA.Rep (talk) 10:18, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- I read the diffs. You're both wrong. The content on both user pages should be gone. The fact that both of you refuse shows that both of you are passionate about this and using userspace to make polemical statements. Pretty cut and dry as far as I'm concerned. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:30, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't have it on mine when I asked him to remove his. I was told explicitly by admins at the time that "political statements" are allowed while "racist contents" are not. Just wait till tomorrow and Jiang and his fanclub from WikiProject:China will be going after you. If you get him to remove his, and that's a big if because I have been trying for almost 6 years, I will gladly remove mine.--NWA.Rep (talk) 10:41, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

- Well, I've restored his image so as to give him a chance to remove it himself. You can see his talk.
- Again, I'm not too worried about a clan coming after me. I trust Wikipedia is not like the real world. I like to think of it as a fair place.
- Anyway, if he doesn't remove the image, I guess I'll just drop it. Maybe you should too. I know it's a bone in your throat. But, heck, the world's filled with all sorts of injustice. A stupid picture saying this country is good or this country is bad isn't the worst thing ever. I remove this stuff when I see it and bitch for a while. I figure that's doing my part. But, it looks like this world's going to implode pretty soon, and we'll all feel kind of silly that we could have had utopia, but instead screwed it all up being at each other's throats all the time. Peace. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:56, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- If you do get him to remove his then you're deserve a medal but that's probably wishful thinking. All I'm saying is stop censoring my userpage just because I'm a powerless editor while turning a blind eye on others like Future Perfect and Jiang because they are admins. And if the lynch mob on the mfd page are gonna ignore previous decisive consensus to "speedy keep" my page and establish a fake so-called "consensus" with a bunch of candidate guide writers and keep trying and waste my time until my userpage gets deleted then I would just admit that that Wikipedia is a failure as an institution and leave this project for good, which is probably the main objective of this concerted harassment campaign anyway.--NWA.Rep (talk) 10:59, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

- Obi-Wan Kenobi once said "...there are alternatives to fighting...". Sure, he was a little zoned out, but he made sense. So did Walter Sobchak from The Big Lebowski when he said "&#!%$ it dude, let's go bowling." Although he was pretty combative, sometimes not fighting is good. I'm from a world of not fighting, and I do fine without it. Besides, such a lot of energy put into this photo matter, and the cascading problems. Off-wiki, you could have fixed by planet by now. Maybe you have to pick your battles. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:20, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Hi NWA.Rep - I just thought I'd pop in and deliver a pep talk. You're not powerless as an editor, there are not many admins in comparison to editors and admins only enforce consensus, clear consensus will always shine through. There's a few factors you should keep in mind though. Firstly Consensus can change - just because consensus said one thing years ago, doesn't mean the community will agree with it now. Secondly, you shouldn't disrupt the encyclopedia to make a point. It looks to me that you are putting things on your userpage which you know are problematic to show up someone else. That's not the way to do things here.
- Now I can't understand mandarin, so I cannot comment on Jiang's userpage, but I will look forward to seeing his response to Anna's very well worded note. I encourage you to remove the pointy text from your page. WormTT · (talk) 11:32, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- And some pep from me too. You sound like a nice person. :) If you were to remove every stitch of contentious content (or better still blank) from your userpage just to be the bigger person, it would immediately send all eyes to jiang's page. I think then, for the sake of our big blue baby, jiang would remove his just because it's been so disruptive. After all, if he left it there, what would we all think? By blanking your page (blanking is a dramatically sweet statement), you would gain the support, respect, and understanding of all, and would cause a massive shift. Such a simple click of a mouse would have a profoundly powerful effect. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:01, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your constructive suggestions, but there's still something confusing me.
I have modified my article Faculty of Teachers' Education of Nanjing Normal University in accordence with your advice. In your advice, you have mentioned that I should format my heading like this: <nowiki> == The faculty today == </nowiki>. But if I put my headings this way, the preview will take a strange look and show everything I have written including the insert website address. as to the punctuation and abstract disfinition problem, I make some changes. But if anything still needs improvements, I will appreciate it if you can give me further suggestions.Nnu-12-22100554 (talk) 12:20, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
- Ah yes. I was wondering why you were doing that. :) Don't add the nowikis. Just the equal signs. That should fix everything. Sorry to confuse you. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:31, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
About This talk
Do not create pages that attack, threaten, or disparage their subject. Attack pages and files are not tolerated by Wikipedia and are speedily deleted. Users who create or add such material may be blocked from editing Wikipedia.--DigitalShop78 (talk) 06:46, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
- Please don't be upset. Your edits made me and other think it a possibility. It was I who suggested a username change, so, I thought it important to have the tag on your userpage to alert those at the name change page to the possibility also. No offence intended. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:41, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
- What is the purpose that you come to Wikipedia? Are you coming the others for teasing? Only "teasing" is visible from your contributions. Wikipedia is a dictionary. It is not your playground. OK? Do not touch me. DigitalShop78 (talk) 12:07, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
- I am only here to help. I promise not to touch you. Only to watch. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:08, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
- Only to watch? OK, Please Withdraw "Sockpuppet Check" which you requested. As for you, it is wise not to touch me and Mr.choppers. Because you are "only to watch"-ing. Good bye DigitalShop78 (talk) 17:12, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to upset you. But, your hostility sure does match the sockpuppets'. Plus, those identical edits referred to here really makes me unsure. Also, when you first registered the account, you certainly showed some editing experience. I'm just wondering if you were using these accounts:
- User:UYR258 (edited only a few articles, including Katsudon and Donburi and only touched images)
- User:AAS71 (edited only a few articles, including Gyūdon and only touched images)
- I'm just asking because you seem to focus on images. And before you edited Kei car, you did some edits at those articles. Plus, the usernames consist of that unusual few upper case letters and a few numbers that the socks have (FFGR79, TPP2011, and PPO96). Sorry if I'm out of line asking. I may be completely wrong here, but it seems a bit odd.
- Finally, templating me, and saying "...it is wise not to touch me..." is sort of uncool. We're a friendly bunch here. Please try to seek our understanding without such remarks. Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 19:37, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
- Please do not continue to make disruptive edits to your talk page, such as adding offensive content or personal attacks. Please respond with civil communication if you believe notices are in error, or visit the sandbox to experiment. Thank you. DigitalShop78 (talk) 03:01, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
- You sure do love those templates. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:34, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
- You're going to fully protect her talk page? That's quite cool, can you do mine at the same time - it sounds like a great way to get some peace and quiet :) --Demiurge1000 (talk) 07:10, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Another caste list cleared out
It has taken me a couple of months, on and off, but a final blast through today results in this. Oh dear, now the fun starts! - Sitush (talk) 11:10, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
- Another?? How many of these castes are there? I've watchlisted it. Let me know if there are others, or how I can help. :) Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:11, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
- The Anthropological Survey of India identified around 4600 unique communities when they did fieldwork in the 1980s. I've never bothered working out how many of those may have articles here but it looks to be a fair proportion. I am working primarily on List of Nairs and List of Jats at the moment. I had a chat at the Manchester Wikimeet yesterday with people who have not been involved in such things, and they agree that unless the sources are impeccable (ie: not tabloid newspapers etc) or the person has self-identified then the names should go. - Sitush (talk) 07:20, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

- Wikipedia uses the stupid-sounding Ogg Vorbis format. Basically, you can convert the mp3 to that format and upload it. See Wikipedia:Creation and usage of media files#Audio. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:11, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

Hullo Anna
Hi Anna, I am the awful Mr.choppers referred to by Digis78. I was unable to do much editing for a few days; I apologize for you guys having to deal with this person but I am also glad that the whole thing played out without me influencing or aggravating any situations. Thanks for being so patient and unbiased - I wish D78 would have been content to cooperate with others as the majority of his edits (not counting reverts) have actually been useful. I tried to accommodate him and make him relax, and while I failed I would still be more than willing to support a reinstitution of FFGR as an editor if they agree to chill out and discuss differences of opinion, rather than act like they have done recently. Again, thanks for your level-headed and mature input. ⊂| Mr.choppers |⊃ (talk) 06:51, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, the awful Mr. choppers. We meet at last. Your name reminds me of James Bond villains.
- You have nothing to apologize for. I think we were all quite impressed with the way you handled our friend's unusual style of interaction. T'was you who were "patient and unbiased". I agree that his edits were not really the issue. I just don't think he understood that others' opinions must be considered and discussed. Anyway, I think we all handled as well as could have been expected. His being a sock is not 100% sure, but we had to use our best judgement. Perhaps he will sneak back with a new name and attitude, be a good contributor, and we'll never know it's him. Cheers, and happy editing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:06, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

- You are most welcome. If you can get another photo of Stir-fried tomato and scrambled eggs, that would be great. The present image isn't that representative, I think. Usually the tomatoes are more cooked, and in smaller pieces.
- Also, would agree with what I wrote about students and children in the article? Common knowledge here in China, but hard to source. :) Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:06, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
The Art Wall on your User Page
Hi Anna,
Your user page is one of the more wonderful things I have seen on Wikipedia. Thanks for making it happen. Is your "art wall" unique, or is it something that other editors do as well. If it is your idea, I will not copy, but if it is used by others as well, I'd like to find out how to do it. Thanks! Ebikeguy (talk) 15:56, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
- Well, thank you so much! Yes, I think it's unique. I've never seen anyone else use the "clickable" thing. You are not just welcome to copy it, you are encouraged to do so. :) Go to my userpage and "edit the page". At the top you will see an url. It's dead easy. You enter an image, and drag and click to define clickable areas. Then copy paste the coordinates it generates onto your userpage along with the image. Done. So, what image? The sky's the limit. If I had to do it over, I would make a custom menu in MSPaint or something. Perhaps a drawing or balloons here and there with text inside each saying "About me" "Awards" etc. leading to subpages. There are a zillion ways to go. If you do it, let me know if you need help. It would be cool. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:17, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
Copyright templates
Hi Anna. Unless I'm remembering wrong, you've worked on copyright issues before, correct? By which I mean, talked to editors whose articles have copyvio problems, maybe as part of WP:CCI. If so, I have a small request for you. Feel free to ping me here or on IRC when you get a chance. Thanks, Steven Walling (WMF) • talk 21:39, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
- I've done some copyvio stuff independently, and once or twice with CCI. I just tried you at IRC. No luck. I'll keep the channel open. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:32, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Hi Anna, regarding IRC, which we had a brief chat about some months ago during the MKY (or was it MYK?) saga. I did attempt to use it and found the thing incredibly frustrating. For starters, I was seemingly unable to register a username and so had to re-enter the details each time, for any channel that was possibly relevant. I used to use IRC quite a lot in the early days of the web, for programming/coding discussions etc & at that time of Fidonet bulletin boards etc it was an advance, but I am clearly doing something wrong nowadays. If I have another bash at it during the forthcoming (Christian) holiday period & get no further then could you perhaps put me in touch with someone who is using it with an Ubuntu/Firefox platform? My suspicion is that there is some sort of esoteric problem relating to operating systems etc. - Sitush (talk) 00:47, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
- Join http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#wikipedia-en. We are there now, and several editors are offering advice. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:59, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
- Bear with me. It is late here and I have taken my meds, but I'll see if I can get a session set up. At least that would be a start. - Sitush (talk) 01:05, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
- You seem to have it sorted. Well done. There's also mIRC software. I use it and have no trouble. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:40, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah. I'll log off now & see if all works ok tomorrow. I cannot remember the software that I used in the past, and ChatZilla seems to be a standard with Firefox. One day I will get the old brain cells functioning properly again. I definitely have used mIRC, btw, but cannot recall whether I did so with a Linux system, Windows, MacOS or even Emacs etc. It is quite some time ... And, meanwhile, I have been ****'d here! Definitely time for bed! Thanks for your help. - Sitush (talk) 01:46, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
