Mentor
Hi, I'm Alison. I'm a second year grad student at MSU studying Telecom, Info Studies and Media. I need a mentor for my Telecom Policy Analysis Wikipedia assignment. Your profile caught my eye. Simple and to the point, plus many ways to communicate. Would like to work with you. Thanks! - Thanks Anna. I apologize in advance if I don't understand the protocol for Wikipedia user pages, I just started last week. We will be doing critiques this week on wiki entries so hopefully you'll be able to help. I'm also available on chat during the day. Football1502 (talk) 22:41, 24 January 2011 (UTC) Football1502
- No apologies necessary. You are doing fine. In case you didn't see the orange message bar on the top of your screen, I replied at your talk page.
- If you want to chat live on IRC, just give me a heads-up here on my talk page and I will watch for you. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:21, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Dont Dispare
Dont get to worried or upset with the comments on the draft caps talk page, this is exactly what you want and need :) It better for users who the guidelines/clarification effect to come along and work on it then some randoms who dont know the first thing about what your tryin to achieve. When this is over I will send you a big plate of cookies. ZooPro 00:32, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. :) I think I'll step back and let others figure things out. I'm tempted to throw in my two cents, but I'm no expert on the subject. I think in the end we'll all be pigging-out on big plates of cookies. (...or is that Pigging-out?) :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:49, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi. Can I choose you as my WIKI mentor?
Hi. My name is Shan Yang. I am a Chinese student who is now studying in Michigan State University. One of my course this semester is a part of the US Public Policy Project. So I wonder if you can be my mentor and help me with some issues of the wiki world. Thank you so much. Glad to hear from you. Will you be my mentor?
Hello! My name is Lisa Shea and I'm a student in Virgina at James Madison University. I'm in a class that is participating in a Wikipedia project. Our page is WP:USPP. As part of our assignment we need to choose a mentor, so I was hoping you could help me! Let me know! I took your advice and created it but ...
I am afraid that my imitation of your flatworm article is rather botched. Still, I did find some new sources to use, so the article can serve as a base better than nothing for future work, I hope. Sharktopustalk 06:31, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- It looks good. I would suggest paraphrasing instead of quoting in the description. I will add templates to talk for you. You might even be able to dig up some more images at commons. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:40, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, it's only a couple of sentences. I wouldn't worry about it. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:45, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- Anna, thanks so much for the painting of a sharktopus, I put it on my userpage but I can't figure out how to put a caption on it. I wish I were equally talented to draw an image of you, it would be very idealized, maybe a hash of glamorous-good-fairy-magic plus the competent creative magic of Edith Head. Thanks for making Wikipedia a better place! Sharktopustalk 16:11, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- You are most welcome. I'm glad you like the image. If you want the original higher-res, just email me. then you can give him evil eyebrows, or such. As for the caption, just cut and paste it from your talk and swap the caption. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:40, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- Oh my. I just googled it. I thought you made it up. I didn't know it's a movie. I feel like a copycatter now. Oh, well. It was pretty obvious: Shark head and tentacles tail. What else could it be? :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:48, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- I have never seen the movie and I am sure I like your image much better! My daughter was laughing about seeing something from the movie on YouTube, and because I had only heard the word and never seen it, I started the account by misspelling the word "Sharktapus." Anna, your image of Sharktopus is really cool. If and when you get some free time in the future, can I get one of "Viriditas" to put on my user page? No hurry on this. Take your sweet time. Thanks! Viriditas (talk) 21:38, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- I'd be honoured. Pretty abstract, though. I'll give it some thought. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:24, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
- The seashell image from Kim Stanley Robinson might be of some help? Viriditas (talk) 03:38, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
- KSR is fine, but you can't beat that A Frodesiak affect... Sharktopustalk 03:58, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hehehe...say her full name five times, fast. Viriditas (talk) 04:04, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
- Are you suggesting ...? Oh, surely not! Sharktopustalk 15:28, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
- I think it depends on your interpretation (ana or an) so its meaning is in the eye of the beholder. Is the glass half empty or half full? Viriditas (talk) 01:59, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- Surely in this case, we should put a space right after "an". Sharktopustalk 17:16, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- You and I would like to think so! :) But, what if she is making a political statement about, let's say, endangered species and food animals, and their use? Viriditas (talk) 20:34, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- You're both way off. I just chose it because it sounds like my real name, and takes people a minute to figure it out. I didn't even know that anaphrodesiac is a word until last year ago, so I guess the joke's on me. Maybe the two balance each other out, which is probably a good thing. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:59, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

DYK image
Hi Anna, I've changed the picture for your DYK nomination. I noticed that you filled in the rollover and alt text parameters the first time with "I still have no idea what these mean" so thought I'd explain. The rollover is the text that appears when you place your mouse cursor over the image, and the alt text is a description of what the image looks like or shows, which can be read by screen readers so that the visually impaired know what the image is of. I've copied the image from DYK so you can see what I mean. I've got a good feeling about the number of hits the hook is going to get - well done! SmartSE (talk) 11:26, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for explaining the rollover thing. Love the improved image. ALT2 is good as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for the encouragement. I hope it does well. Double thanks! Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:52, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- No problem. SmartSE (talk) 14:03, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
IRC
Hi Anna I'm on IRC for a chat (Enviro2009 (talk) 15:08, 27 January 2011 (UTC))
- I'm on. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:10, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Sorry to be daft but when I type at the bottom of IRC & hit return it tells me I've got it wrong. (Enviro2009 (talk) 15:16, 27 January 2011 (UTC))
