Not a replacement for Anelka

edit

Wenger stated lots of times that he did not buy Henry to replace Anelka. His original plan was to play they together up front. In the end Anelka wanted to leave but Arsene still wanted Henry. 155.4.133.194 (talk) 02:07, 10 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

I assume your comment refers to the line "Brought in as a replacement for fellow French forward Nicolas Anelka, Henry […]" in the section "1999–2007: Move to Arsenal, breakthrough, and success". That statement is supported by an WP:inline citation, an article by the The Observer: https://web.archive.org/web/20120115044738/http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2004/oct/03/newsstory.sport1. Wenger stated lots of times that he did not buy Henry to replace Anelka. His original plan was to play they together up front. In the end Anelka wanted to leave but Arsene still wanted Henry. We would need sources supporting those claims. Can you supply them? Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 10:00, 10 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
