ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MfD nomination of Wikipedia:Barnstaritis

Wikipedia:Barnstaritis, a page which you created or substantially contributed to (or which is in your userspace), has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Barnstaritis and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Wikipedia:Barnstaritis during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. CyanoTex (talk) 08:28, 10 October 2016 (UTC)

Your access to AWB may be temporarily removed

Hello Promethean! This message is to inform you that due to editing inactivity, your access to AutoWikiBrowser may be temporarily removed. If you do not resume editing within the next week, your username will be removed from the CheckPage. This is purely for routine maintenance and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You may regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. Thank you! MusikBot II talk 17:14, 4 April 2019 (UTC)

My DeviantArt Edit (6-23-2019)

Hey! You just changed my DeviantArt edit! You know that this is 100% true and not something fake.

"On June 18th 2019, the design of the website was updated. The reason why the website updated it's design was because of a DeviantArt user named DrewPicklesFan1991 terrorizing the website along with various DeviantArt users (Including AgentC-24, Amazonianbeauty, and michaeldragon) for refusing to pay for someone's commissions on the website. Various DeviantArt users have blocked him because of that, And DeviantArt banned both DrewPicklesFan1991 and his alternate account DrewPicklesFan1992 for terrorizing the website as well as uploading porn on to the website."

That is 100% true and real and you know it, OK? Thank you for listening. Over and out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:282:1:4D8D:83D:CB04:8DA6:7003 (talk) 18:08, 23 June 2019 (UTC)

The issue wasn't whether or not it's true, but more so the fact that it's a highly dubious addition that didn't have a reference or citation. Furthermore, it's questionable as to whether or not the exact details add anything meaningful to the article, and comes across as a bit of internet lynching. Pinging

Hi,

Pinging like this doesn't work. It only works it the software recognises a new line of text. Adam9007 (talk) 23:21, 24 June 2019 (UTC)

MfD

The page says: Miscellany for deletion (MfD) is a place where Wikipedians decide what should be done with problematic pages. Looks like that statement needs tweaking... Adam9007 (talk) 00:28, 25 June 2019 (UTC)

I ended up withdrawing the nomination; As it stands, there are too many discussions going on regarding the OA policy and I don't believe the contribution of an MfD was a positive one. Will let the other venues decide what to do. Redirects can be handled at RFC. Promethean (talk) 00:31, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
Promethean, It certainly wasn't my intention to add to the hoo-ha, but merely to ensure procedure is followed. Same with the RfC. We don't want to risk incurring the wrath of the WMF do we? Adam9007 (talk) 00:41, 25 June 2019 (UTC)\
@Adam9007: Completely understand the need for process when dealing with these matters; Not criticizing you at all in that regard and I actually agree with you. Just acknowledging that my decision to raise an MfD where deletion wasn't even the desired outcome was an error of judgement on my part; Putting it mildly. Promethean (talk) 00:54, 25 June 2019 (UTC)

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

That man is an asshole and deserves it wholeheartedly (plus, he can't even read between the lines and see that WP:WAX's examples are all poorly related). Thebrakeman2 (talk) 12:02, 18 March 2022 (UTC)

Thebrakeman2 No. He's not an asshole, he's an editor of Wikipedia much like yourself and is owed a modicum of respect whether you like him or not. He might be wrong, or he might not be, but please remember that you will never win a content or administrative dispute by violating WP:CIVIL. Promethean (talk) 18:27, 18 March 2022 (UTC)

Temu flag fixes

Hi, There is a flag on the article for Temu (company), the most downloaded iPhone app in the United States the last few months. [1] I work there so I have a COI. I have posted Talk:Temu (company)#Request for more clean up and removing flag to deal with the last few issues in cleaning this article up so the flag can be removed. Since you are a member of the WikiProject for Internet, I thought you might possibly be interested in the topic. Thanks in advance for your consideration!
