Editor of the Week : nominations needed!
The Editor of the Week initiative has been recognizing editors since 2013 for their hard work and dedication. Editing Wikipedia can be disheartening and tedious at times; the weekly Editor of the Week award lets its recipients know that their positive behaviour and collaborative spirit is appreciated. The response from the honorees has been enthusiastic and thankful.
The list of nominees is running short, and so new nominations are needed for consideration. Have you come across someone in your editing circle who deserves a pat on the back for improving article prose regularly, making it easier to understand? Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up citations?
Please help us thank editors who display sustained patterns of excellence, working tirelessly in the background out of the spotlight, by submitting your nomination for Editor of the Week today!

Your help is needed
Hello MA. I hope that Spring has sprung nicely in your part of the world. There are two sandbox templates in the Category:Wikipedia pages with incorrect protection templates. I am guessing that it is because they have been copied from templates that are fully protected. That being the case I cannot edit them to add the "noinclude" command to get them out of the cat. If you could take care of this when you have a chance it would be most appreciated. Late last week there was a day where there was only one page who had a protection that had expired. That was unique in my year long monitoring things. Fun stuff :-) Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 21:21, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
- Hey MarnetteD! Spring has FINALLY sprung New York City! Literally only a few days ago. I'm unconvinced that it will stay like this, but hopeful :) You might have to ask Redrose64 about these two sandboxes. Do you know which templates they are transcluding that might be the culprit? I couldn't find any that contained protection templates at all, rather relying on {{documentation}} to do it for them — MusikAnimal talk 05:15, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- In both cases the problem was on the doc page, and had been there since 2010 or earlier (the history of Template:Clear/doc is particularly polluted with revisions by people using it as article draft space) - it may have dated back to a time when
{{documentation}}
didn't add the padlocks automatically. Simple removal suffices to fix: Template:By whom/doc; Template:Clear/doc. --Redrose64 (talk) 08:31, 23 April 2016 (UTC)- Thanks to you both. When you have a moment MA could you or Redrose64 take a look at the four "TemplateMA" items that are now in the cat. They have been created by the same editor who may not have a full grasp (not that I do either) of how the templates work. I checked the various items transcluded to them and they are all fully protected so I can't get any further in trying to get them out of the cat. Redrose64 I hope that Spring is warming your environs as well. Cheers to you both. MarnetteD|Talk 10:48, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

Saturday April 30, 1-6pm: Contemporary Art of the Middle East and North Africa @ Guggenheim | |
---|---|
On Saturday April 30, 2016, in conjunction with a global campaign, the Guggenheim will host its fourth Wikipedia edit-a-thon — or, #guggathon — to enhance Wikipedia's coverage of modern and contemporary artists from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and to counter geocultural systemic bias on Wikipedia. The Guggenheim aims to further the goals of the Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative, and build on the model of campaigns like the Wikipedia Edit-a-thon at the Guggenheim: Women in Architecture, Wikipedia Asian Month, and Art+Feminism. New and experienced editors are welcome. The event will include a training session for participants who are new to Wikipedia and Wikipedia specialists will be on hand to provide basic instruction and editing support. Can’t join us in New York? Visit our global MENA Artists Month partnership page to coordinate international and online events as well.
Newcomers are very welcome! Bring your friends and colleagues! --Pharos (talk) 17:19, 25 April 2016 (UTC) |

Problems
- Wikimedia tested a new data center last week. This meant that the wikis could be read but not edited for 45 minutes on April 19 and for 20 minutes on April 21. [3]
- When the data center was tested, new edits were not shown in the recent changes log for 20 minutes. They are in the logs now. You can read more about how to find the edits.
- Unread notifications were sometimes counted incorrectly. This has now been fixed. [4]
Changes this week
- Wikimedia Commons will have better access to Wikidata. They can use data from any page on Wikidata on any page on Commons. This will happen on April 26. [5]
- It will be easier to choose if you want to watch files you have uploaded with the upload wizard. [6]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from April 26. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from April 27. It will be on all wikis from April 28 (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on April 26 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- The "Save page" button when you edit will be called "Publish" instead. This is to help new editors understand what it does. It already works like this on some wikis. [7]

Would you mind if I nominated you to be a 'crat? You appear to be a very trustworthy user, and you are good at keeping your cool. --Peter Sam Fan 15:24, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Peter SamFan: Ha, thanks. I've actually been offered this before, but to be honest I don't have much of a desire to be a 'crat. My bot work is relevant, but I don't close enough discussions to fill the role. Unfortunately it's a dying breed, and there's no shortage of them, so I'm ok with just the admin bit. MuckFest MS
Hi MusikAnimal,
All the updating I just did has now been converted back to outdated information. I'm not sure why this is happening as I did not add any content that is promotional or advertising. This seems to happen a lot of Wikipedia and I understand that people edit pages with incorrect information or as self-promotion, but I'm just trying to include the most up to date and correct content to the MuckFest MS page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AGilmour13 (talk • contribs) 21:05, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
- @AGilmour13: Sorry you're having trouble. This edit is the bulk of the content you added which, unfortunately, has far too strong of a promotional tone for an encyclopedia. Most of the facts included here I have kept, with exception of the notable participants, which was lacking sources. I can help you with that, but let's the leave the other content out. If you are in fact affiliated with the subject, I strongly encourage you to review our conflict of interest guideline so that you can better understand why this is a problem. Let me know if you need help — MusikAnimal talk 21:13, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
- I copied that first paragraph from their website so I understand now how that seems promotional, that wasn't my intention. I would like to add the 2016 events and notable participants at least. If I did that wrong, I'dd gladly take your help since this is my first time using Wikipedia as an editor. AGilmour13 (talk) 21:24, 26 April 2016 (UTC)AGilmour13
- @AGilmour13: Alright, so first off, never copy directly from a website! Unless of course it is explicitly released under licence compatible with Wikipedia. That's all really complicated, so to make it simple, just put it in your own words :) As for adding the 2016 events, I've restored that and cleaned up the table. Did not mean to delete it, sorry about that. Feel free to edit the article at will, just bear in mind to keep a neutral tone, and use that super awesome citation tool to add references. Don't hesitate to ask for help. Best — MusikAnimal talk 21:40, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

New template - to me anyway
Hi again MusikAnimal. Today I came across a "pp" template format that I haven't seen before. Here is an example. I wanted to check and make sure that the configuration does not cause problems with your bots removal work. If you are already aware of it then that is great. On another note this sandbox template Template:Block-reason/sandbox is now in the cat and it looks like it might be akin to the ones from a few days ago. If you or Redrose64 could work your magic on it that would be a help. As ever thanks for your time. MarnetteD|Talk 00:01, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
- It's just
{{pp|vandalism|small=yes}}
that's been written multiline. You can do that with pretty much any template, you just need to be careful to number the positional parameters explicitly (as in|1=vandalism
) so that the newline (and other whitespace) gets stripped. --Redrose64 (talk) 10:04, 29 April 2016 (UTC)

2016 GA Cup-Round 3
Hello, GA Cup competitors! Thursday saw the end of Round 2. Sainsf once again took out Round 2 with an amazing score of 996 (a higher score then he received in Round 1!). In second place, MPJ-DK earned an astounding 541 points, and in third place, Carbrera received 419 points. In Round 2, 142 reviews were completed! At the beginning of April, there were 486 outstanding nominations in the GAN queue; by the end of Round 1, there were 384. Another demonstrable way in which this competition has made a difference is in the length of time articles languish in the queue. At the beginning of this GA Cup, the longest wait was over 9 months [12]; at the end of Round 2, the longest wait had decreased significantly, to a little over 5 months.[13] It's clear that we continue to make a difference at GAN and throughout Wikipedia, something we should all be proud of. Thanks to all our competitors for helping to make the GA Cup a continued success, and for your part in helping other editors improve articles. We hope to see all remaining users fighting it out in Round 3 so we can keep lowering the backlog as much as possible. To qualify for the third round, contestants had to earn the two highest scores in each of the four pools in Round 2; plus, one wildcard. We had an unusual occurrence happen in Round 2: because only one contestant submitted reviews in one pool, we selected the contestant with the next highest score to move forward to Round 3. (There will be a rule change for future competitions in case something like this happens again.) For Round 3, users were placed in 3 random pools of 3. To qualify for the Final of the 3rd Annual GA Cup, the top user in each pool will progress, and there will also be one wildcard. This means that the participant who comes in 4th place (all pools combined) will also move on. Round 3 will start on May 1 at 0:00:01 UTC and end on May 29 at 23:59:59 UTC. Information about Round 3 and the pools can be found here. Good luck and have fun! Cheers from Figureskatingfan, 3family6, Jaguar, MrWooHoo, and Zwerg Nase. To subscribe or unsubscribe to future GA Cup newsletter, please add or remove your name to our mailing list. If you are a participant still competing, you will be on the mailing list no matter what as this is the easiest way to communicate between all participants.

Hello from Chinense
Greetings MusikTalk,
Regarding the Marie Sharp's wikipage, I have uploaded new pictures I took personally with my own camera. i wanted to share this with you before I took the time to edit the page, https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Marie_Sharp's.
Importantly, i noticed that my TEXT edits were also deleted, of which I do not have a copy. I will search the site to determine if they are saved somewhere. I did not realize text edits accompanying pictures were also rejected simultaneously.
Thank you for your time and contribution to the community! Chinense (talk) 15:16, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Chinense: No problem! I will help you. However there are still issues with your images. They appear to be taken from a website, but no explicit permission has been granted. Even if you are the photographer we need proof these are properly licensed, as the website claims they are copyrighted. More at WP:DONATEIMAGE. Your images may be deleted again, but don't worry, we can restore them once we get the permission we need. The same goes for your text. Don't worry, basically nothing on Wikipedia can be "deleted" forever. Your text is in the revision history and we'll restore it once we get the images sorted out. Please reply here indicating you've read WP:DONATEIMAGE and taken the necessary procedures. If you're confused on what to do just say so, I'll help :) — MusikAnimal talk 15:28, 25 April 2016 (UTC)

If you want to use a different one that's fine; Just update the image and description using the same syntax.By the way... there was a Hot Sauce Expo in New York City, this past Saturday!??!! Marie is a dear friend and it is my honor to share time with her. Her husband is very ill so her time in Brooklyn was short.Because many professional photographers attended the event, and she is the Queen of Habenero, there are numerous similar shots circulating, so you are just doing your job and I respect that immensely.I ate my way through the East Villlage, it's my favorite place on earth to try out innovative new spots. One of my favorite new vegan spots is Mother of Pearl, and I love Motorino, Ivan Ramen and topping it all off with Odd Fellows! Chinense (talk) 11:50, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Chinense: Awesome that you know Marie personally. I would love to meet her. The Smoked Habanero sauce is my favourite of hers, and I've still got a big bottle of Beware that I've been afraid to try. Glad you enjoyed the East Village! I guess I need to take more advantage of all the places to eat. Mother of Pearl and Motorino are both fantastic, but I haven't tried Ivan Ramen or Odd Fellows. It seems there's an endless supply of places to try here, after living here for three years I feel like I haven't scratched the surface.Anyway I hope you're enjoying Wikipedia! There's tons of fun topics to write about, and we'd love your help in any area you wish to participate in. In particular you may be interested in WikiProject Food and drink, or check out some of the tons of other WikiProjects at Wikipedia:WikiProject Directory. Going to invite you to play the Wikipedia Adventure, which can jumpstart the learning process. Cheers — MusikAnimal talk 04:09, 3 May 2016 (UTC)

- Yes this certainly would be possible. I'm not sure if such scripts exist, though. Unfortunately I've got a backlog of techy work myself, so I'm of no help :/ — MusikAnimal talk 04:31, 3 May 2016 (UTC)

- @Beetstra: Alright, can you talk on IRC? Maybe we should move this to WP:EFN. Note this is nowhere near an "emergency". Emergencies are when the disruption is at a very high-rate, e.g. some popular website instructed people to go vandalize Wikipedia in some way, or there is a spammer with an automated program. Even then, you would still give the filter at least some time, however brief, before putting into disallow — MusikAnimal talk 14:58, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
AIV redirect vandal - edit filter?
Hi - are you aware of the vandal who keeps redirecting AIV to various dumb articles? Is there a way to stop it with an edit filter? We're having to semi AIV for six hours at a time and he's coming right back and doing it again within an hour of protection expiration. We've got a couple of IPs who regularly make good reports now and they're being forced to go to ANI, which is no good for anyone. Katietalk 16:26, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
- Sure, I can work on something. Cheers — MusikAnimal talk 16:32, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
- FWIW, it seems to be coming from the same IP range (or ranges). RickinBaltimore (talk) 16:33, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
- You are so full of the awesomesauce. He really tripped it around noon CDT, then changed IPs to a static at Georgia Tech which Widr blocked, and nothing since. Poor guy must have all the frustrations. That's why I like pending changes so much – I can just see them sitting there screaming "why won't they let me tell the world that Bobbi Jo is a skank?!?" and beating their heads against their nightstands. :-D Katietalk 18:29, 3 May 2016 (UTC)

Actually speaking as the "AIV redirect vandal," I decided to work the system a little bit. I was curious to see how much I needed to vandalize Wikipedia AIV before you protected it long term, but it seems you decided to create an edit filter instead. Then I decided to test the edit filter to see what would trip it up, and noticed that my edits did trip it up as I expected them to. So then I was curious as to whether or not the same edits would trip it up if made from a completely different IP outside of that range, so I tried to make the same type of edit from a static Georgia Tech IP, and I was surprised to see that the edits did not trip the edit filter, so then my plan was to self-revert it, but Widr beat me to it and blocked me. So it seems you have found a good alternative to long-term page protection. Good job guys, you have succeeded in stopping the vandalism! 107.77.233.92 (talk) 05:15, 4 May 2016 (UTC)

- I'd guess not. I actually had to look it up myself, but apparently
for (;;)
is valid C/Java; it's an infinite loop. I thought it'd be a compile error, myself; while I knew that the initializor and incrementer could be empty, I didn't realize that leaving the terminating condition in the middle empty was allowed, too. Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 21:14, 6 May 2016 (UTC)- Yeah that's wild. Very cool username but ironically it's breaking everything! Maybe this was intentional!? Are you out to break the wiki with for (;;)?! =P In all seriousness, I can definitely fix my bot. I'll look into those templates you mentioned as well — MusikAnimal talk 21:23, 6 May 2016 (UTC)
- I was aiming for "stick-in-the-mind" when I changed name and seem to have struck "pain-in-the-arse". I carefully read the checklist of what's allowed in a user name and assumed the wiki engine would handle it. How wrong can you be... for (;;) (talk) 06:29, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
- I learned C some 25 years ago, and when we got to loops, the instructor showed us the for loop syntax, and was one of the examples. It's easily explained - the three arguments inside the parenthesis are simply three valid C statements (which may be assignments, tests, function calls - nothing is forbidden, not even another
for(;;) ... ;
for()
): of the three, one is executed when the loop is first entered, the other two once per iteration; and of those two, the result of one is tested to see if it evaluates as true or false. You can putand whenfor(i=-10;i++;){ ... };
i
reaches zero, the loop terminates. In C, almost anything is possible, and the compiler normally won't complain about missing args. --Redrose64 (talk) 00:18, 7 May 2016 (UTC)- Yeah, it's just the mental shorthand I've always used for for loops makes the middle statement into a boolean comparison, and it's not like
x == ;
is valid. It's easy to imagine the first and third ones being empty statements--they're just executed on their own anyway, so the loop just executes nothing--but the naive understanding, at least for me, the loop has to actually do something with the middle one, instead of just letting it do its thing. But then, my memories of C are mostly of segfaults, so I'm hardly the authority anyway. Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 02:18, 7 May 2016 (UTC)- Agreed. It seems the middle one is checked to be a truthy value, and keep the loop running if it is, and I'd expect nothing to be evaluated as falsy, meaning the loop wouldn't run at all. I think the funnest way to find out would be to rewrite MusikBot to use this C for loop, then let it loose on the wiki — MusikAnimal talk 13:13, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

- Ping definitely worked! Any time you link to a person's userpage, in any way, along with a fresh signature, they'll get a ping (unless they've disabled pings). Note that it must be accompanied by a signature. Additionally, the timestamp must match the time you pinged. So if I add this reply and forget to ping you, when I edit it and add the ping, I'll need to delete my old sig and add a new one, if that makes sense — MusikAnimal talk 16:00, 6 May 2016 (UTC)
- It does. I disabled ping, which is probably why I didn't know what is supposed to happen if or when someone puts my ID into a "user" template. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 16:03, 6 May 2016 (UTC)
- I recommend re-enabling it! The notification system has improved quite a bit, and many folks don't do anything beyond pinging. So there might have been many heated, controversial discussions that you were involved with where everyone was waiting for your reply, but luckily you had an excuse to plead ignorance :) — MusikAnimal talk 16:09, 6 May 2016 (UTC)
- Oh, yes, I need more controversy. NOT! :) OK, I'll consider it. :) ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 16:52, 6 May 2016 (UTC)
- It's not sufficient to delete your old sig and add a new one. To trigger a notification, your post must include at least one entirely new line, which must include both the link to the other user and also your signature. So this edit will notify Baseball Bugs. See WP:Echo#Triggering events. Modifying an existing line will not work, if that is all you do: this edit will not notify Baseball Bugs even though there is a fresh link and a new sig. --Redrose64 (talk) 23:33, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

Hey Musik, was wondering if you would be willing to consider a project for us folks on Commons. We have no userRightsManager script for c:Commons:Requests for rights. GA Cup-Round 3 Clarification
Hello, GA Cup competitors! It has been brought to our attention that we made a mistake in the last newsletter. In the last newsletter, we said that the "4th place" overall would make the Final along with the top user from each pool. However, the users who will advance will be the top user from each pool along with "4th and 5th place" overall. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion that we caused.

Double delivery by TAFI
Hi, MusikAnimal. There is a small bug in the TAFI delivery process in that it double sent me today.[14][15] Is this because of the new "Active Editor" list? It sits on the same page as the main list. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk}

- Nope, just operator stupidness. I had to manually invoke the script to diagnose why the accomplishments weren't added, and I guess I didn't comment out that bit that sent out the mass message. My bad! Anyway, I fixed the bug. The issue there was the article analysis service MusikBot uses didn't URI encode page names, so the character À in À la carte broke it. It's working now :) — MusikAnimal talk 01:50, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
I can't follow the instructions at MediaWiki. Don't know what/where my extensions folder is. Don't know where LocalSettings.php is. Essentially clueless. Thanks for any help.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:31, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- Bbb23, I seem to like to poke my nose in conversations between the two of you, but until MA can explain that stuff I will recommend Twinkle's batch delete which is quite easy. Just list all the links at User:Bbb23/ArticlestobedeletedbyTwinkle and click on deli-batch and you'll be asked for an edit summary to delete all the links on that page. You'll have to make sure that you don't have it hidden in your css (I have it hidden on my CSS to avoid accidental clicks, I unhide only when needed -- User:SpacemanSpiff/monobook.css). —SpacemanSpiff 12:40, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- I don't mind your poking your nose, but as MA can tell you, I require more explicit instructions (see "clueless"). Does this list have just the names or also brackets? Does each page have to be on a separate line? Is there an easy way to copy and paste a list of new page contributions from a user? I don't have a monobook.css. Don't know what it is (big surprise). Don't know how you make something hidden or not hidden. If you blank out the list after you've done your deletion, how can you do any harm later? This'll teach you for poking your nose into things.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:58, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- Well, as far as WP:MASSDELETE goes, I think you're just overthinking it. Most of those directions are for installing the function to Mediawiki--which is already done here, so you don't need to worry about it. All you need to do is follow the "Usage" section, i.e. go to Special:Nuke and type in the editor's name to delete all the pages they've created, or a pagename pattern to delete pages with skmilar names. HTH, Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 13:14, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

- Well you'd be referring to the "new admin school", which we've done away with as of maybe 3 or 4 months ago. The WP:ADMINGUIDE is for new and old, just a reference, if you will. What admins find most useful I think is the list of tools at WP:ADMINGUIDE/TOOLS (or WP:ADMINTOOLS). That lists of all the fancy pancy tools for deletion, among other things. Special:Nuke is great to delete pages by a particular user, but if you ever find yourself needing to delete 10+ pages, you should probably be using Twinkle. Cheers — MusikAnimal talk 15:09, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

Rangecontribs
Hello MusikAnimal. Have you tried to use the wmflabs rangecontribs tool lately, on IPv6 addresses? It seems to me it used to work. Just now I tried to look at the /64 subrange that includes this fully specified IP. My attempts to insert /64 somewhere in the string always produce an empty list. I thought the IPv6 range syntax for this tool was foo:bar:baz:snort:/64 and that was supposed to give you the contribs. Thanks for any help, EdJohnston (talk) 01:24, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
- I actually was under the impression xtools didn't support IPv6, but the fact that you were able to get results for a specific IP suggests otherwise. People have been saying we need a good IPv6 range contribs tool for a while now, so at some point, hopefully with a major reworking of Xtools, we can make this happen. For now I'm a bit caught up with other matters, but it's on the backlog! Sorry I can't be of more help — MusikAnimal talk 01:45, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

- Ha, thanks NQ! I didn't realize the gadget did IPv6 either. I do know that the gadget tends to flake out with larger ranges, so a server-side tool is probably still worthwhile. Probably won't block very large IPv6 ranges anyway, though — MusikAnimal talk 03:01, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
- User talk:Abecedare/Archive 20#Rangeblock question, Jasper tells me that the gadget is
limited to searching ranges whose prefixes are integer multiples of 4
- No idea what that means though. Btw would it be easy to incorporate ipv6 cidr input into that gadget?- NQ (talk) 03:10, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

Circular journey
Hi, MusikAnimal. Top of the morning to you. Going here and clicking on commonswiki 356
is a circular albeit delayed journey. Ping me back. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk}

- @Checkingfax: Yes there are a bunch of links here and there that need to be fixed. Low priority, but on the to-dos — MusikAnimal talk 14:58, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
PageViews - agents and platforms
Would it be possible for the current dropdowns of the agents and platforms to be multi-selection instead of single-selection? As in, I'd like to grab "mobile app" + "mobile web" data for the "user" + "spider" groups. --Izno (talk) 11:52, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
- It definitely is, but not without complicating the UI. People have asked about other similar features, such as being able to compare views from mobile web, app, and desktop. At some point maybe I'll add an "advanced" link that brings up more options, or add some special URL parameters to do this kind of stuff, but without adding any controls in the UI. I'll create a GitHub issue for this so we can explore further. Best — MusikAnimal talk 15:03, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
VE stats
That graph is kinda hard to read, and I'm not totally sure what it's measuring. If I'm interpreting it correctly, though, it seems like VE is doing worse? VE has a lower success% and higher failure% than WT for the most part (though the percents aren't complements, so I'm not really sure how that works?) I'm not sure what not-attempted and bounce-back means; it's a little suspicious to me that they're moving in lockstep with each other. Do you know what these numbers are measuring? Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 22:08, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
- @Writ Keeper: I think what you want is the "success by experience of user", limiting it to enwiki and users with a lower edit count. I have no idea how it's measured, but for the new users VE clearly stands out — MusikAnimal talk 22:14, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
I'm not sure where to ask....
I'm confused... According to his talk page user:HTheBossGaming created a page back in March 22nd, which was later deleted, but according to his contributions, his only contribution was today... Is wikipedia broken in some way? or are contributions sometimes hidden? Dhrm77 (talk) 22:17, 12 May 2016 (UTC)
- It's in their deleted contributions, which only admins can see. If you use a tool like User:Anomie/useridentifier.js, than you can easily see the number of contributions they have. If it differs from what you see at Special:Contribs, than you know those edits are either deleted or suppressed. You can also try an edit counter like xtools, which shows they have 1 deleted edit — MusikAnimal talk 22:28, 12 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks. Dhrm77 (talk) 01:56, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

Hello. This vandal account that you previously blocked, User:50.206.162.2 is back at it. Can you please take a look? Thanks! -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:36, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

MaryKember2011
MaryKember2011 is back to making nonconstructive, edits, creating crap articles that aren't noteworthy and changing heights and weights without adding a source...again. CrashUnderride 03:44, 14 May 2016 (UTC)

System glitch nuked 95%
Hi, MusikAnimal. I made a minor tweak to my talk page archiver and when I saved it the system also nuked 95% of my talk page. Then, MusikBot came along and added TAFI, so now I cannot undo/rollback my edit. I tried doing a manual copy/paste restore from history, but it will not save. This happened the other day on another talk page, same situation, and I reported it to Phabricator but no word back. Can you please restore my talk page? I can re-insert the TAFI if needed. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk}

- @Checkingfax: I used Twinkle to revert to the earlier version. Just go to the relevant diff and hit "restore this version". You could also do this manually by clicking on the datestamp of the revision you want, hit edit, then hit save. Anyway, your talk page is WAY too big, it nearly crashed by browser. I would OneClickArchive a bunch of them, then try fiddling with the bot archiving settings. I would recommend setting it to archive discussions that are say, over 7 days old. — MusikAnimal talk 01:06, 16 May 2016 (UTC)
