Hello and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.

A few features that you might find helpful:

March Madness 2017

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

• tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
• updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
• creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

I've been knocking off a few relatively short articles ready for the centenaries beginning on 31 July as a rest from longer articles and trying to incorporate generic material. I'm quite interested to know what the structural faults are. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 16:50, 25 July 2017 (UTC)

@Keith-264: Mostly just the way some of the article is phrased and how the content is distributed line by line - I apologize for using confusing terminology, I did not mean structural errors in the normal Wikipedia context of article section positioning, but more so certain elements in the sentences and some of the details that you used. You may also want to consider adding a redirect for "Action of the Cockcroft", as that would certainly be useful is anybody searches it - people are unlikely to add the 19 July 2017 to the end of their search, even if it is required to differentiate the article. If you need further help I would recommend the MILHILST improvement page, I can help with small and obvious errors but am not quite at the level of those editors on the improvement page, who could help you much further. Hmmm, I've had a bit of a time thinking of titles and the MOS recommendations, hence the tactical incidents have all got dates. Only this one has a name relatable to RS, which has made it rather unwieldy. A copy-edit from you would be highly welcome as I've been ploughing this lonely furrow for so long that I could really do from a fresh pair of eyes. Er how do I do a redirect, is there a WP for it? @Keith-264: I can definitely take a look and do some copy editing when I have time and make the improvements I can. I also have created the redirect for you - they are very simple to create - simply create a page that you are redirecting from, thus for this article it was "Action of the Cockcroft". Then in source editing mode, add #REDIRECTWhatever page you are redirecting ''to''. For any additional details you need (although that's basically it), refer to Wikipedia:Redirect#How to make a redirect "I'd rather have a German division in front of me than a French one behind me" - George S. Article I created which you asserted for the military project, question

Hie, I don't mean to bother but I have a question. You asserted my article Fury: My War Gone By and found that it failed B criteria for "Coverage and accuracy", what is it that you feel is lacking, does it fail coverage becuse the "Development" section is empty, or do you feel it fails in some other aspect, such as accuracy? @*Treker: My apologies for giving an incorrect assessment, I've assessed about 100 today in rapid succession and spend limited time on each one. If you recheck the class, under MILHILST it will actually be a start class article. This is due to some structural errors in the lead of the article, such as "after second world war", where it should be something along the lines of "after the Second World War", however you want to phrase it. I understand your native language is not English from your userpage, but you have written the rest of the article well so just fix glaring defects like that (there are others in the article including the plot section) to re-earn that checkmark for grammar. With regards to the content, the development section does need to have content in it. If you deem that it is not necessary to provide a comprehensive B-class article, remove the section if you cannot find content to fill it with. If you need further help, even with performing some of those edits (I speak English natively, if you need further help with the grammar), feel free to reach out to me. Cheers! Thank you for your answer, I have planned to fill out the development section for a while now but I have gotten caught up in other stuff recently. I see now when you point it out that the lead is indeed kinda wonky. I will look through the article and look for other errors, such as the plot section which you mentioned, (I am pretty bad at writing plot descriptions I have noticed). 2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting

This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.
