DYK for El Franco Lee

On 6 January 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article El Franco Lee, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in his first run for Texas House of Representatives, El Franco Lee had to pay a $400 fee to remain on the ballot because his nominating petition did not have enough verifiable signatures? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/El Franco Lee. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, El Franco Lee), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Diaphragmatic rupture

Hello. I had originally nominated the article for GA. I have now unretired under a new account. Are you able to continue the GA review at Diaphragmatic rupture? aeschyIus (talk) 22:24, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

AeschyIus, hey sorry, but I don't think I'll be able to. I've started a new job and I'm working on my med school reapp so I'm gonna be extra busy for a while. GA reviews are too much of a time commitment for me rn.  Bait30  Talk 2 me pls? 23:16, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

Comment

I'd prefer if you did not take it upon yourself to 'warn' people in the manner that you did at Talk:Parliament of Aruba. It is patronising and uncalled for. I am perfectly capable of determining whether it is appropriate to make a comment in a discussion, irrespective of some pointless essay. Thank you. RGloucester 01:42, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

Move of Asian American studies → Asian-American studies

Hi there Bait30! I see you were the closer of the move from Asian American studies → Asian-American studies (proposed by 207.161.86.162). There did not seem to be much discussion on the move (really, just one comment of support by Rreagan007). However, this has also been debated on a wider scale and has seen a change in most of the dominant styleguides. While the Wikipedia styleguide suggests otherwise, the overwhelming precedence, it seems, is without the hyphen, as seen in the names of every major academic program under that name (e.g. UCLA, Berkeley, SFSU, OSU, Cornell, etc) and the main academic guild on the subject, the AAAS. --Caorongjin (talk) 23:30, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

Caorongjin, I believe my close was within WP:RMCI, but I wouldn't feel offended/slighted if you wanted to do a WP:MR or just do another RM discussion. It also seems as though there's been some discussion recently about it at MOS:HYPHEN, so it might be worthwhile for you to open an WP:RFC about changing the style guide.  Bait30  Talk 2 me pls? 01:07, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Bait30, thanks for this helpful comment. I was merely following the guidance for steps to list a new review request. As suggested, I am adding to the conversation on the MOS. I'm not familiar with the process of a WP:RFC, or how it related to the discussion on the talk page of the MOS, but will look into it. Thanks.--Caorongjin (talk) 05:55, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

We solved the hoax thing a while back I was under the impression they were already deleted

Btw though I may ask for the source code for that since I'm planning to continue it on an outside wiki. I think we solved it months ago and it's kinda annoying to be warned for it when I already figured it out but eh ok Xiphactinus A (talk) 16:53, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

Query

Hello, Bait30,

I just have to ask, how are you finding all of these old sandboxes with fictional election results and alternative histories? There must be millions of abandoned user pages, it seems like it would be like finding a needle in a haystack. Liz Read! Talk! 03:24, 30 June 2021 (UTC)

Liz, yeah it can be difficult and very inefficient. I honestly just search for terms that I would most likely find in an alt-history type page, such as "Second American Civil War" or "2040 United States presidential election". And then I set the filter to only search in the Userspace. I recently discovered that searching "All 151 seats in the House of Representatives" and "All 650 seats in the House of Commons" works for Australia and the UK respectively.  Bait30  Talk 2 me pls? 03:31, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
Wow, I can honestly say that I can't see another editor coming up with that technique. That's very smart & creative. The more of these tagged pages that I look at, the more I see that for many of these editors, most only work on their own sandboxes, not on regular articles. This reminds me of a few months ago, we had all of these editors from a Fandom wiki group that created fictional countries, trying to get their countries represented on Wikipedia. It might have been some challenge because they begged & pleaded not to get rid of draft articles of these nonexistent countries & kingdoms. At least this current collection of editors doesn't seem like they were a coordinated group, just separate editors messing around in their sandboxes. Thanks for your work! Liz Read! Talk! 03:47, 30 June 2021 (UTC)

About my sandbox

The "hoax" that you discussed about to me, I made this as a test in sandbox for editing any articles that had infoboxes. I never edit my sandbox since a couple months. I do apologize if for any misunderstanding and confusion to any reader that stumbled upon my sandbox as I am aware of the policy regarding alt histories. Deleting Jackbornholms Sandbox

It is a long time since I has been in my sandbox and I cant really remember what was in it at all. It seems it is now deleted so I cant see what I have done wrong anyway. I was actually in the belief that once sandbox was a place when you could play around with things that was not necessary to be published. That the sandbox in other words was private. I guess not. Beside treating me, could I ask you to please tell me what was in the sandbox because I honestly don't have a clue, I have been trying to remember but I cant. I think it must be year or years since I was there. So if you could tell me what you have deleted without me having any way of seeing it I would be very thankful. Maybe this would help my memory. Whatever in it that has offended you so much you couldn't simply ask me to delete my private sandbox but had to delete it and then threaten me in a must uncivilized way I apologies for having offended you.

Sincerely Jack Bornholm (talk) 12:25, 2 July 2021 (UTC)

Jack Bornholm, if it's been years since you looked at your sandbox and you can't even remember what was in it, I'm not sure why it's a big deal. I don't remember specifically what was in your sandbox, but it must have been some sort of alternate history or fake election results. These types of things are not allowed even in sandboxes per WP:UPNOT and WP:NOTAWEBHOST. WP:NOTALTHIST is another good essay that gets into why this is not allowed. I also do not appreciate you saying that I [threatened you] in a must [sic] uncivilized way and suggesting that I was offended by your sandbox. I used WP:TWINKLE which simply left the standard notice template for speedy deletion nominees. And I wasn't offended, I just figured it should be deleted since the content in the sandbox isn't allowed.  Bait30  Talk 2 me pls? 15:09, 2 July 2021 (UTC)
Talk:Bait30,I guess it is not, I just dont like to be treatened. I dont react well to that. Also I react bad to being accused of making hoaxes. That is why I find you extremely bad mannered and offensive. You could simply have informed me that I was doing something wrong and asked me to changed that. Instead you jumped to intimidation and self-righteous vigilantism in the stile of people who deny even simple facts. Very pour taste sir! Jack Bornholm (talk)
