Merge

edit

This article should be merged into Punisher computer and video games. There is very little information on the page and could be easily intergrated. (Animedude 20:52, 28 October 2006 (UTC))Reply

No. Why? It's a separate title. Like this. --HanzoHattori 00:50, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
The Punisher (2005 video game) had enough information to warrent an indenpented article. This one.. doesn't. Take Spider-Man computer and video games for example. The Spider-man game for the Playstions has its own, with a fully developed article. the Spider-man game for the atari 2600 does not, and simple does not have nough notable uinformation for its own page. This is exactly like that. I would also preffer you not remove the the merge tag untill something is agreed upon. (Animedude 08:47, 29 October 2006 (UTC))Reply
That's because, guess what, it's a stub (and the other one is stub no more). This is not some obscure and completely forgetten Atari 2600 game, it's one of the best known/best scrolled beat'em-ups. Do not put the merge tag, or someone will merge. Wikipedia:Proposed mergers, if you must. --HanzoHattori 22:59, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
That I did, but it seems I am not the only oen who feels it shouyld be merged. Stop being difficult. We are all adults here and as such if you dissagree the matter should be discussed in a formal manner. Going back and forth with edits is not helping.(Animedude 20:18, 31 October 2006 (UTC))Reply

Survey

edit
  • Sage (and now, gtfo and LET ME DO THIS ARTICLE. You didn't start it, you came after me - seriously, go away, it's just a little harmless STUB FROM SEPTEMBER, so don't rape it away yet you angry comic/weaboowikinazis and also a very scary goth. Go, enjoy the Halloween or something. God.) --HanzoHattori 20:38, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
comment first wikipedia isnt anyone's article, so you cant just say LET ME DO THIS ARTICLE or gtfo, second, be civil, third, theres only 2 option for this survey, either MERGE or OPPOSE and then state your reason, acting with that kinda attitude proves how retarded you are, cant you go by a discussion without trash talking? †Bloodpack† 20:49, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm totally retarded, sure, orfguysdfgsadl;ufhjg, now, go away. If you won't, I'll rape your cat. If you don't have a cat, I'll rape any cat AND YOU'LL BE SORRY. You guys even use the image I uploaded and the links I linked and then tell me to back off because you steal the content and demolish the article, it's amazing. --HanzoHattori 21:02, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

The pictues isn't yours, the links arent yours. Wikipedia belongs to everyone. You are just being immature. We havent even deleted this page, it's still here. Wikipedia is not the place for this third-grade bullshit. If you dont have anythign to say other that proposing to have unwanted sexual encounthers with felines, then please move on to something else. This is tiresome. (Animedude 21:13, 31 October 2006 (UTC))Reply
we told you to back off? please redirect the source link indicating that info. youre the one saying us to go away, is that also a back off? †Bloodpack† 21:15, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Guys, don't lie now. You did delete, repeatedly - I restored every time, it's all in the history for everyone to see. Lieing like this is so low, it's even worse than my cat rape and NLF dirty bomb threats. Now, a compromise: how about I leave you with all the OMG PUNISHER games, and you leave the 1995 for the rest of the world? --HanzoHattori 21:40, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

oh yes now i remember, the reckless edits you did that we reverted. yes, the evidence is saved in the history. btw, this is really off topic †Bloodpack† 21:48, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Of course your wipe-outs of this article, but yeah, you also do great job by reverting all my improvements and corrections in the other one. I salut you, the army of two. --HanzoHattori 22:08, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

i dont know the improvements youre talking about, maybe the extractions you took from Punisher computer and video games †Bloodpack† 14:16, 1 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Merger

edit

Animedude and I feel that this page should be merged into Punisher computer and video games, because it provides essentially no additional content, and what little there may be could easily be added to the main article. If you have any reasons why you do not think that they should be merged, please do set them out below. David Mestel(Talk) 18:47, 9 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Thepunisher2.png

edit

Image:Thepunisher2.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

  • Gameplay-> There are two challengeable statements here which I shall tag. It's not that I dispute them...just for verification's sake, I think it would be better if you add those inline cites there.
Ok aside from this, is there no source which mention their ability to throw grenades? -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 10:42, 30 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Turns out the AllGame reference mentions the ability to use grenades, i've added that weapon to the article. Freikorp (talk) 13:01, 30 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
ok  Y Ugog Nizdast (talk) 15:19, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

The only thing which seems like an issue is the reliance on sources which look like fansites to me, but as long as the "Reception" section has reliable sources I don't feel that's going to be a hurdle.

Suggestion: Aside this review, I added the archive link to one reference which you rely heavily on, why don't you try it for the others? In future, if those links go dead, that would be a problem. -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 09:58, 28 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

I've never added archive links before; i'll look into it. Also I probably should have told you earlier, I didn't write the article. I came across it, thought it was almost at GA quality, and made numerous copyedits before nominating it myself. The user who did all the hard work has since retired from editing. Freikorp (talk) 13:01, 30 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I've seen that in the history. It is good to that you nominated this to fulfill that retired user's legacy  . -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 15:19, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Okay just two more minor issues. One: The infobox mentions quite a few names in the credits but this seems to be unsourced and not mentioned in the article; use your discretion in removing or keeping these. Two: The content sourced in the reception to The Nerdist site almost directly quotes the entire single para considering there just that talking about the game. In the strictest sense, this could be considered as a COPYVIO, suggest you trim down that part.

Alright, I pass this article. Congratulations! and now let me finish doing its paperwork. Good day, Ugog Nizdast (talk) 14:56, 2 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Removed content

edit

I've had to remove the 'Arcade' development section in order to get the article passed at DYK, as it did not include any reliable sources. Here is the text that was removed; hopefully some of it can be added back at a later date if reliable sources are found. Freikorp (talk) 15:09, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

The Punisher was directed by Noritaka Funamizu (credited as "Poo") and co-designed by Akira Yasuda, better known as "Akiman". Yoko Shimomura wrote the majority of its music score, with contributions from Isao Abe. The game was released in the Japanese arcades in April 1993. Its ROM contains an unfinished bonus stage aboard an airplane. Music from the game was included on the soundtrack CD Tenchi wo Kurau II -The Battle of Red Wall- ~ G.S.M. Capcom 7, released by Pony Canyon in 1993.

I've removed the following sentence and reference on the grounds the source does not back up the statement at all. I'm guessing the editor who added it just got the issue wrong, but I can't find the correct one. Freikorp (talk) 01:22, 1 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • "GamesTM retorospectively described it and the arcade Alien vs. Predator as old "gaming nuggets" that provided a "nirvana for fight fans" as "back in the mid-Nineties, no-one made scrolling beat-'em-ups like Capcom."[1]

Archive.org

edit

Many of the citations are still messed up. The work is not "archive.org" but the name of the magazine. Archive.org is just hosting the content, which would usually be copyright infringement, but we're working on the principle that archive.org, as a reputable museum, has secured permissions. Anyway, Archive.org need not be credited in the reference. czar  13:08, 1 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. I'm bothered by this new confusing and incorrect reference format. @AggressiveNavel: can you please reformat the references you added using Template:Cite web, which was the approved style already in use at this article? Thank you. Freikorp (talk) 22:02, 1 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
I've just taken it upon myself to fix all these references. Freikorp (talk) 01:24, 1 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
