Fair use rationale for Image:Hebuiusagi.png

edit

Image:Hebuiusagi.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Redirected to the List of Characters page? Where's Usagi's bio??

edit

Why, when I click on any link to the Miyamoto Usagi bio, am I taken to the list of Usagi Yojimbo characters? His bio's not contained in the article about the UY series, and I know he used to have his own bio. Where the heck did it go? How can so many other UY characters have their own bio page and not Usagi himself?(208.58.207.32 (talk) 20:43, 5 July 2010 (UTC))Reply

All the Usagi Yojimbo character's biographies are being merged into this page, because they do not satisfy the guidelines WP:NOTABILITY or WP:BKD. There's more than enough content concerning Usagi on this page. Claritas § 15:41, 6 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Split Miyamoto Usagi as a solo article

edit

I feel Miyamato Usagi should be split but according Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Comics its written in an in universe style. What can be done to improve it. Dwanyewest (talk) 00:05, 2 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

A while back, Miyamoto Usagi did indeed have his own page, as did numerous other characters from the series, that had a great deal of informative information. Given the prominence and acclaim "Usagi Yojimbo" has received over the years, I hardly consider the comic's cast to be non-notable and undeserving of their own articles (or at least just Usagi). The way it's displayed now, it's impossible to read, as it's one giant clump of text in a single paragraph. We can look at other articles for individual literary characters, such as Richard Sharpe or other independent comic book characters, as examples.(208.58.207.32 (talk) 03:05, 15 September 2010 (UTC))Reply
The big snag here seems to be Wikipedia's notability standards, which require third-party support for a new article. At the same time, I have always felt that when pages get too complex, with too much information, the public interest is better served by splitting off the information into more manageable chunks. GodaiNoBaka (talk) 08:53, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ideally I enjoy the idea of solo articles but unless it is supported with references otherwise an article shouldn't exist. Miyamoto Usagi is an exception as I have provided amble independent information. Dwanyewest (talk) 19:14, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I understand the restriction, and the reason for it. I just think that this is an instance where slavish adherence to the notability rules harms the page(s) as a whole. GodaiNoBaka (talk) 08:53, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. Besides, however Wikipedia chooses to define notability, to most people, it's a subjective term. For comic book researchers and collectors, characters having individual biographies is very useful.(208.58.221.239 (talk) 05:38, 15 December 2010 (UTC))Reply
