Drew Shipyards

edit

Wasn't the Independence built in the Drew Shipyards on the Jones River, Kingston, MA. Not, as this article states at the Charlestown Navy Yard. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.39.71.54 (talkcontribs)

Independance

edit

Independance re-directs here. Is the spelling with an "a" correct in some versions of English or is this done due to the huge number of people like me who don't know how to spell it ?

AFAIK the latter. —Nightstallion (?) 10:54, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

"the most famous of which is the U.S. Declaration of Indepenpants issued in 1776."

edit

This needs a citation. Who did the research? It sounds like someone's opinion rather than encyclopaedic fact.Glennh70 15:38, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Could we possibly find a more dignified picture for "Independence" than something from a Disney theme park? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.161.105.140 (talk) 01:04, 27 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lakotas have not declared Indepence

edit

Lest someone inject the 'Lakota independence' thing again, the truth is quite different.

Independance

edit

Independance is wanted by all humans. We like to think that we have the freedom to do whatever we want in order to meet our wishes. Humans are capable of many things. One that is strong and nobal does not let anything get in their way. Humans are determined to make anything happen since they have freedom. For example I watched a movie in English class called "Dead Poets Society" and the little boy o-neil was not aware of the indepandnce he could have until his english teacher Mr. Kearting xhanges the kids outlooks on things in life. I guess the boy was to stressed out about how his dad didnt accept his freedom so he acted violently against himself. By shooting himself. I think young people should have independance and they should be able to use their freedom.

Country's wanting Independence

edit

There should be a section on which countries want or wanted independence — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ewand03 (talkcontribs) 20:50, 8 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

This is a detail in independence not the plain meaning of the word

edit

Shouldn't this article be in a more detailed phrase not just independence plain? Maybe the regular independence should be a disambiguation page and this just one of the options. In my opinion the main article should be linked to Autonomy for that is closer to the regular meaning of the word than a political party wanting independence Rashba (talk) 07:27, 23 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
