editLooks like you just can't understand the world: Venezuela to assist Chavez's *populist-based* socio-economic programs.
So now.. America y Against America.. that's new the ALBA is not anti-American as stated in this article, is an international cooperation organization based on the idea of social, political, and economic integration between the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. So America is who, or is composed by whom..? So The North America have the unique role of commercial cooperation ? so no body else could start a different cooperation? My opinion is that this article is biased, because is an ALTERNATIVE not AGAINST.. and specially not against AMERICANS.. (from the North Pole to the Patagonian desert) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hercius (talk • contribs) 07:43, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
Odd syntax
editThis section is full of odd syntax e.g., "Currently, Cuba has diplomatically friendly..." rather than 'Currently, Cuba has friendly diplomatic....."
One might be tempted to think, incorrectly I am sure, that such turns of phrase are poorly translated from Spanish, and given the glowing description taken from Cuban governmental sources..... (El Jigüe, 10/26/2005)
"Castro" or "Cuba"
editI went through and changed "Castro" to "Cuba" when the text referred to actions that were not taken by Castro personally, but rather, but the Cuban Government. For the sake of accuracy "Castro" should not be used interchangeably with "Cuba," "Cuban Government," etc. takethemud 23:06, 1 March 2006 (UTC)takethemud
Franco-Castro relations?
editWas there any link whatsoever between Castro's Cuba and Franco's Spain? At least they shared the language and a colonial past. 217.209.93.205 01:35, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- Good question, I believe that despite being diametric opposites in ideology, Franco being devoutly anti-Communist and Castro becoming the head of the Communist Party in Cuba, relations were fairly civil between the two nations during Franco's time. I'm not sure if they were close enough to be of note though, unless anyone can provide a good source analysis.--Zleitzen 01:52, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- Franco's minister and later President of Galicia, Manuel Fraga Iribarne, has had good relations with Cuba. After all, Fraga, Franco and Castro's ancestors were all Galicians. --Error (talk) 23:16, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Expanding
editIt would be good to expand this article to include the pre-1959 foreign relations of Cuba. takethemud 03:17, 23 August 2006 (UTC)takethemud

Fair use rationale for Image:Chavez04 fidel9.jpg
editImage:Chavez04 fidel9.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Cuba, Sandinistas and Costa Rica
editThe claim that Cuba (which has rather bad relationships with Costa Rican since Castro came to power) supplied arms to Sandinistas through Panama (a country occupied by USA) strikes me as extremely illogical. I'd like to see a proof of the claim. 206.186.8.130 (talk) 17:02, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
straight up propaganda
editRelations in Latin America and Africa during the Cold War
Cuba has a unique symbolic allure. It is the small country that confronted the U.S. empire and has survived despite the attempts by all U.S. presidents since to subdue its communist government. It is the island with iconic leaders like Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, and the Latin American country that in the language of revolutionaries everywhere embodies the struggle of socialist humanism against the materialism of capitalist societies. Cuba is also the small nation that in the past sent its troops to die in faraway lands in Latin America and even Africa fighting for the poor. — Moisés Naím, Newsweek [11]
yeah i bet all the Cuban political prisoners feel deep pride in socialist Cuba's 'unique symbolic allure'. 76.168.169.86 (talk) 05:31, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
Philippines
editUnder the section for the Philippines where it says, "Spanish rule in both colonies ended with the victory of the United States in the Spanish-American War" this statement is inaccurate. It confuses correlation with causation. Spain was losing to rebels in both countries by the start of the Spanish-American War. Suggestion is for the sentence to be removed; the main idea being that Cuba and the Philippines share a similar history as former Spanish colonies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.115.51.69 (talk) 22:21, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
