Story section

edit

It appears to me that the "story" section is hardly objective, it looks more like a sales pitch than an actual description of the game's plot, It should be rewritten by someone who (unlike me) has actually played the game. (Arachon (talk) 21:22, 3 February 2010 (UTC))Reply

Other Aircraft Removed

edit

I am going to remove the "Other Aircraft" section since I feel that it isn't necessary. - RaptorR3d 03:02, 21 February 2007

Multiplayer

edit

We should mention the multiplayer, that was awesome. Ryan4314 12:31, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Should we make an article for the arcade game?

edit

Now, I haven't played either the PSOne or arcade games, but if they are two different games, I feel each should have their own article. CardinalFangZERO 06:36, 28 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

The PlayStation game is the sequel to the arcade game of the same name, so I think there should probably be a seperate article for the arcade game which is the actual first game in the series. YourPTR! (talk) 05:37, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Good quality scan of story section in the English manual of this game?

edit

Hey. I decided to take a picture of the manual for the game, and made a source for the Story section for this article. I couldn't find any scans of the manual anywhere. Not kidding. So, if anyone could find a good quality scan of the manual, or can scan it themselves, and replace my picture, that would be pretty good. KawaiiChurchill (talk) 07:07, 21 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Nevermind about the scans lmao

– Per WP:NCVGDAB. If further disambiguation is required beyond "video game", then the year is preferred in disambiguating. Once the disambiguation page is moved, Air combat may also merit becoming a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT to Aerial warfare.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 09:11, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Namcokid47: Hmm - you may be right, but I think it should be folded into the Air Combat article instead. Most magazine sources I can find only mention how the PlayStation game was a conversion of the arcade game, meaning they aren't even that different. Air Combat 22 on the other hand does seem notable and should probably be recreated.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 17:20, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
They're not the same game. The development team was interviewed by GamesRadar+ as part of its Ace Combat retrospective, who state that while they share similarities, the arcade and PS games are different games entirely (" In the end, we just decided to forget about creating a port and instead made a game from scratch."). I oppose merging the PS game into the arcade game article. Namcokid47 (Contribs) 17:25, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Namcokid47: Okay, makes sense. I'm going to withdraw this anyway since there's no point anymore.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 17:27, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • "Air Combat[a] is..." never keen on such an intrusive footnote, could you say "Air Combat (also known as Ace Combat in Japan)[A]..."?
    • Per WP:VG/JP, the Japanese name should be kept as a footnote, unless it's written in kanji and therefore requires explanation (which this one doesn't).
  • "in the country of Usea" -> "in the fictional country of Usea"
    • Corrected
  • "fightercraft"' say what? Do you mean an "aircraft" or a "fighter aircraft"" or a "fighter"?
    • I've seen "fightercraft" be used before, but I changed it to "aircraft".
  • "arcade hardware" no need for "arcade".
    • Removed
  • "shipped 2.23 million copies" worldwide I presume.
    • Yeah, worldwide sales. Noted.
  • Shouldn't the release date for mobile phone (2005) be reflected in the infobox?
    • I've never really been a fan of listing multiple release dates for a game in a single infobox, since more often than not it gets cluttered. I chose to just keep the PlayStation version's release date since that is the original version of the game.
  • No reason for "n.a." in fields in the fair use image licensing, that needs to be remedied.
  • "the country of Usea" again, add "fictional".
    • Done
  • "and stealth aircraft" why not say which one?
    • Removed pipelink
  • "powered System 21 arcade" link System 21.
    • Done
  • Link "port".
    • Done
  • "allow ... allow" repetitive.
    • Removed second instance
  • "in Japan on June 30, 1995.[9] It was released " -> in Japan on June 30, 1995, and on September 9 in the United States as...
    • I actually disagree with this idea. I've chosen to specify it was titled Ace Combat in Japan in the first sentence, and I think the second sentence leading into the American and European dates is fine.
  • "on August 25, 2005 for" comma after 2005.
    • Done
  • "did Allgame's " AllGame.
    • Done
  • "console.[19][16]" order.
    • Done
  • "cutscenes,[19][16] realistic sound effects,[14][17][13][19] and amount" similar, twice.
    • Done
  • Ref 14 should have spaced en-dash, not spaced hyphen in the tite.
    • Added

Namcokid47 the fair use rationale is still complete for the screenshot. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 07:51, 12 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
