City Library/CAE building
  • Date: Wednesday 3rd October (Wiki Wednesday :))
  • Time: 6pm-7:30pm
  • Venue: City Library, Flinders Lane, CBD.
  • Where exactly? Group Study Room. (map - choose "group study room")

Basically you walk in, you'll see the checkout desk on your left, go to your right and up a small flight of stairs. slightly on your left you'll see a room - that's the group study room. It's booked from 5:45 to 7:45pm.

This meetup is also marked on Facebook and Upcoming. But you should rsvp here. :)

Comment: City Library = State Library correct? Phgao 02:41, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, the City Library is in the CAE Building in Flinders Lane. The State Library of Victoria is on the other end of the city in Swanston Street. See Google Maps. --Canley 06:39, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Timing?

edit

Possible timing discussed by the small number who attended at meetup 6 would be late July. We need to find a timeslot in the week that is likely to maximise participation. Metamagician3000 04:19, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry that I didn't end up making it to Meetup 6 - it was freezing, dark, I'd just come in from Canberra the day before, and I really wasn't up for dragging myself down to Melbourne and having to come back really late at night. I think it might be better to consider having it in the daytime on a weekend - the fact that it was held so late was a major reason in my not going, and seems to have been for a few others as well. Rebecca 07:37, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
One idea that was discussed was offering a few times and dates that people could choose from; but unlike the last time we tried that, we thought it would be useful to offer just a few choices to help people be a bit more concrete about things. So I'm going to suggest the three dates below, from the last week in July. Sign under a date if it works for you. --bainer (talk) 07:41, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid that I'm out for all of those dates - second semester starts a couple of weeks prior, so I won't be in Melbourne anymore. Maybe next time. Rebecca 14:47, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Any further thoughts?

I've been on something of a wikibreak for a good few weeks now, due to some real life pressures, so apologies for not contributing at all to this. I take it that these dates have now slipped (and I, for one, now have another booking this coming Sunday). Do we want to start over in our thinking? Metamagician3000 07:02, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well it has slipped, so perhaps start planning again? A meetup after Christmas looks good. Sometime in Jan? Phgao 08:21, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
For the moment at least, I've had scale back my involvement in Wikipedia; however, I'll still try to get to a meeting if it can be arranged. Metamagician3000 13:17, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I'm out for this one. I'm now working full-time in Canberra, which will rule me out for a while. Rebecca 23:54, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Probably not a good time for me. I'll come if I can, but it's contraindicated at the moment. Metamagician3000 07:48, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Can't make it either - presently interstate.--Takver 14:35, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies from me too. --Michael Billington (talk) 15:32, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Bad time, in the midst of exams. (Is it me, or was this meeting decided very quickly?) Phgao 02:38, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it was. Here is warning for the next one: It will be between November 10 to 19th. :) --pfctdayelise (talk) 00:53, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, my exams finish on Nov 20th, so I guess that rules me out on that one as well. With these meetups, is it all Wikipedia talk? And how long would they go for? Oh and how did this one turn out?Phgao 22:15, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Your exams go for a long time. :( This one had 5 attendees, not bad for one so hastily organised. Please join the wikimediaau-l mailing list or check its archives for two reports from this one. (see m:Wikimedia Australia) This one was mostly about Wikimedia Australia rather than Wikipedia. We talked for around 90 mins or so then some of us had to leave, and some of us went and had a drink (and meal, for me :)) at a nearby bar. --pfctdayelise (talk) 10:22, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I joined the mailing list :) Still not sure how to access the report for this meet up though. Phgao 10:57, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Have a look here. pfctdayelise (talk) 13:38, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
