Uncletomwood, you are invited to the Teahouse
Hi Uncletomwood! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. |
Odd, but not peculiar
Please specify in detail what "non-controversial technical task" justifies deleting this article. If "merge histories," what alternate article should it be merged with? Note that the template itself says you should specify why it meets the criteria. Bgoldnyxnet (talk) 14:29, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
Okay, I see you have started up a formal "article for deletion" on this, so I'll take my comments there. Bgoldnyxnet (talk) 17:22, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

Adding reference to Wikipedia articles
Hello Uncletomwood! Please do not forget to add references from reliable sources for the content you add to Wikipedia. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Adding a well formatted references is very easy to do.
- While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "cite" click on it
- Then click on "templates",
- Choose the most appropriate template and fill as many details as you can,
This will add a well formatted reference that would be helpful in case the website link (web URL) becomes inactive (dead/link rot) after some time. You can read more about it on Help:Edit toolbar or see this video File:RefTools.ogv. thanks and regards --TheStrikeΣagle 15:38, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

WP India Tagging on new articles
Hello Uncletomwood! I just wanted to remind you not to forget to add the tag {{WP India}} the talk pages of India related articles that you create, actually I was browsing some of the Indian articles that were still untagged with {{WP India}}, after which I came here. Please note that this tagging helps a lot in improving the articles by attracting Indian editors to the article. At last I would request you to please consider Checking the talk pages of articles that you have created and tag it by adding {{WP India}} if it does not already have one. Keep up the good work, thanks and regards --TheStrikeΣagle 15:40, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

Hello Tom,
I received notification that you had objections to the Let's Hear it for America page. This is really my first article posting, and I am anxious to learn more. A couple of thoughts ...
1) Every word in that posting is exactly as it was written in 1978-1979. A member of the Proctor (Proctor & Gamble) was the primary patron of the organization's creation.
2) Although Let's Hear it for America was certainly not a success, the concepts articulated were then and continue to be valid today.
3) If you are interested, I could certainly put you in touch with people who were aware of the organization when it was created.
4) The movement towards the establishment of a Secretary of Peace in the U.S. Cabinet is two hundred and twenty years old as of this year. Although LHIFA is a certainly a modest footnote in its history, the fact remains that it did exist.
As I said, please let me know if this is an entry to which you are categorically opposed, or if it you have suggestions on how it should be modified so as to meet with your approval.
Thanks.
Regards,

Hodopathy
It is promotional because of this section: "discovered by renowned scientist Dr. Hembrom .Dr. Hembrom revived this traditional method and reintroduced it to the villagers through the means of Hodopathy Ethno Medicine Research and Development Centre and Phuli". It doesn't matter that this is a non-profit-making organisation, you are still seeking to promote it. Deb (talk) 12:49, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I created a Wikipedia page for John Christian Hopkins as part of a project for my American Indian Literature class at the University of New Hampshire. I was curious as to why you have nominated my page for deletion. I noticed that you has cited that my article is "about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant." I am not sure why that is the case, as Hopkins is one of the most revered Native American journalists in the U.S. Our entire class is building Wikipedia pages for a variety of Native American writers, and I hope that they do not all get deleted. How can I avert this from happening.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Telecom Enforcement Resource and Monitoring (TERM) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Cindy(talk) 04:38, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

I'm also putting a link which confirms it. http://ofbindia.gov.in/index.php?wh=payband&lang=en I know you're Jacob Varghese and also use "defenceaccounts" username. I'm reverting your edit and if you continue to vandalise the article I may have to report you to admin! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.91.136.182 (talk) 12:10, 3 June 2013 (UTC)

This is a famed poem by Pablo Neruda, the Chilean poet who won a Nobel prize in literature. Although there may be some question if it is copy righted ( I suspect it now is in the public domain) I was surprised to find that there was not already any reference to it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PABresler (talk • contribs) 13:30, 3 June 2013 (UTC)

Don't worry - if you take a look at this page you'll see there's not a compelling case. I've replied on my page that you should elaborate a bit more in your SPI page and I also emphasize that I honestly think that the investigator thought he was right after a cursory overview; sometimes people just operate too quickly. Regarding your AN3 report
Hello,
I notice at http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Edit_warring#User:117.200.157.144_reported_by_User:Uncletomwood_.28Result:_.29 it never listed any diffs. Did you forget to select some diffs (or was the UI too difficult to understand, i.e. you needed to click on "Load" first)? I've added some checks to make sure a report isn't made if not enough data is made available. →AzaToth 18:29, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Cleared
Don't worry, you're cleared. See User_talk:59.91.136.182 and Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Uncletomwood. I do have two comments for you:
- You did the right thing by asking me (/others?) for help in backing you up/vouching for you.
- You did the right thing by responding to the allegations.
- You did the wrong thing by responding by swearing and getting upset. Just keep calm.
As you can see, administrators, such as Dennis Brown are careful. There's no need to get overtly upset. But again, I'm glad you were cleared, there's no way a a CheckUser was merited (not that it would've come up with anything), and, as Dennis Brown mentioned, it was closed with prejudice. Let me know if you have trouble with that IP (or someone you suspect to be him/her), again, and I'll talk to some of the admins. One final recommendation: never be afraid to get on IRC to get help if you get stressed out and want help quickly! --Jackson Peebles (talk) 19:22, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

a tricky user
Hi,
I know we all like to assume good faith around here, but User:Return man 2 just got a welcome message based on only one contribution to Wikipedia, which happened to be blatant advertising in his userpage (which is now up for speedy deletion). We should have at least a cursory look at what newcomers are doing.... Regards Taroaldo ✉ 09:53, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

Be careful about "nonsense"
Hi. Thanks for patrolling new pages, but please be careful about tagging with WP:CSD#G1 nonsense. That is only for the likes of "5k#}88&!##^*&X" or "Yaaaayyy LOL!!!!!". The definition specifically excludes "poor writing, partisan screeds, obscene remarks, implausible theories, vandalism and hoaxes, fictional material, coherent non-English material, and poorly translated material", and article authors may well be offended if their work is tagged as nonsense. If you are going to do New Page Patriol (which is a very good and useful activity), it is worth reading WP:CSD carefully; also, there is good advice for speedy taggers from an experienced admin at WP:10CSD and WP:A7M. Keep up the good work! Regards, JohnCD (talk) 10:53, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

Hello,
My name is Zor Shekhtman. A couple of days ago I have submitted two pages to Wikipedia, "Zor Shekhtman" and "Unizor" which were deleted by you for the reasons you indicated that I fully agreed with.
As a new Wikipedia member, I need your advice related to this process. I have founded an educational Web site Unizor with advanced level mathematics for high school students. The site is free, has no advertising and I support it myself. At the moment it has about 200 video-recorded lectures (20-45 min long each), notes, problem solving techniques, exams etc. and I add new material on a regular basis. The site has approximately 15,000 hits a month and this number is steadily growing. Obviously, I want to increase the number of people that use the site since I consider it my mission to share the deep knowledge and love of math among young students. The site is mentioned in some publications, forums and presentations, but not in great number of them.
Advice I need can be formulated in two questions. 1. Is the presence of Unizor on the Web in numbers I mentioned above sufficient to be represented in Wikipedia or there is certain threshold in number of references to this site which it must overcome first before being represented in Wikipedia? 2. There is an analogous educational Web site, Khan Academy founded by Salman Khan. His site addresses more elementary and general aspects of math for young students and used by a substantially greater number of people. Both Wikipedia pages for Khan Academy and for Salman Khan are present. If the answer to the first question is positive in a sense that relatively smaller number of references is not an obstacle for representation in Wikipedia, would it be appropriate for me to create Unizor and Zor Shekhtman pages in a format similar to those about Khan?
Thanks in advance for your help.

DYK for P. Sathasivam
On 3 August 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article P. Sathasivam, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the current Chief Justice of India, P. Sathasivam, was the first law graduate in his family and his entire village? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
