I noticed your update to the template. I found this ref: http://www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/content.asp?id=24281&textonly=true Do you have a better one? Agathoclea (talk) 20:39, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

That looks good - certainly better what the boundary commission had in mind before that. Anyway my reading of the two sources together is that it came into effect April 2012. Agathoclea (talk) 21:11, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Excirial. I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions, such as the one you made with this edit to Powick, because it didn’t appear constructive to me. Powick

Your reversal of my edit was somewhat proprietorial of you. In my opinion, which is as good as yours, the changes I made were constructive, especially as I intended to link to the section from another article. On what grounds do you consider my amendment unconstuctive??? I added to the section without taking anything away. In all my years in editing Wikipedia I have never reversed any well-intentioned amendment by another contributor, even when I didn't consider it an improvement myselfPlucas58 (talk) 19:54, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

Hello Plucas,
I'm walking my usual vandalism patrol round, and i don't think i ever edited the Powick article before so i have no intend to claim ownership over that article. I'm not certain as to why i reverted that particular edit though as it is clearly not vandalism, not even on first glance. My best bet is that i accidentally managed to hit the revert and warn key at the wrong moment which is turn caused your edit to be reverted instead of the one i was actually aiming for. Apologies for the mixed - i've reverted my incorrect revert as well. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 20:16, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

(afterwards Something of Somewhere, 1999)

Hi. On the archdeacon pages I had generally avoided listing subsequent posts when an article exists (because posts will be listed there.) What do you think? (Also, I omit dates from posts held immediately "afterwards" and use "later..., 1999" for posts after a gap.) DBD 20:52, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

As far as the listing of subsequent posts is concerned I added them to highlight the careerists who went on to bigger and better things elsewhere. All part of pulling things together; I have found several situations (in other fields) where multiple articles have been written about the same person, each covering different aspects of his or her life. It is quite interesting how "boring" lists serve to winkle out all the inconsistencies in the individual articles.

Adding or not adding the date when the succeeding post immediately follows is a matter of individual style which I would find difficult to debate.

But from my point of view both issues are now academic as the bishop/dean/archdeacon lists are now more or less complete (except for Ipswich archdeacons about which there seems to be very little info available). I only dabbled in the subject of Archdeacons last weekend as a break from a very big and exhausting project to document the UK's listed buildings to which I have now returned. But I was able to plug a few gaps in the Archdeacon lists however.Plucas58 (talk) 11:20, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Halp?

Hi. I wonder if, next time you have a break or what-have-you, could you help with Archdeacons in the Diocese in Europe, please? I have some research (mostly from Crockford and Who's Who) in my userspace: User:DBD/Archdeacons in the Diocese in Europe but I'm findin it really difficult what with the inconsistent titles and such... DBD 14:50, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi. I have had a little dabble and couldn't resist adding my sixpennyworth to your contribution. But I did come across an explanation of what happened to the Archdeaconry of the Riviera. (It was merged with Archdeaconry of France in 1995). This throws up a small issue which perhaps you could revisit which is that John Livingstone was an Archdeacon of the Riviera in 1993 whereas you have him listed under Archdeacons of France (1979-1984). It does however explain the odd overlap in dates of the France list. I therefore suggest he be removed from the Archdeacons of France list.Plucas58 (talk) 21:06, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Thanks so much. Yeah, Crockford lists Livingstone as "1979–1984: Adn France", but then also lists several Aegean and Scandinavian adns all under the current title, which is plusungood. It's not unknown for adns to serve two different archdeaconries in the same diocese in turn, so was Livingstone perhaps ADN Northern France and then later ADN the Riviera? He was after all "1979–1984: Chapl, PARIS (St George)" then "1984–1993: Chapl, NICE (Holy Trinity) w Vence" according to Crockford, so it would make sense if he was Archdeacon on the Riviera while he was chaplain of Nice... I don't know, it's probably right but it seems a bit like synthesis unless we can find a source. DBD 21:30, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
On closer inspection the Livingstone case is stranger than I thought as you have him resigning in 1983. But this cutting has him Archdeacon of the Riviera in 1993. [1] . Maybe he fancied spending his declining years in the sun.Plucas58 (talk) 21:20, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
Yes, I'm seeing this backing up our inference: [2] DBD 21:34, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
Which fits in with Ronald Jennison standing down as Archdeacon of the Riviera in 1984. See [3] (click on St Michael's Church).Plucas58 (talk) 21:45, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Thurland castle

Hi, I had a question about your edits to the Thurland Castle page during January 2013. The reference to Brian "Stainless Knight" is attributed to the poem by Walter Raleigh, however, I have yet to find the poem. The closest I can find a reference to that knight is in the Marmion by Walter Scott. Is there such a poem by Walter Raleigh? If so, where might it be found? If such a poem does not exist, do you recall where you found the citation? I am finding that this reference is being qouted verbatim in geneaology and other forums without attribution. Thanks!--Amschaal (talk) 01:46, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

After doing a bit of Googling I think the poem by Sir Walter Scott is rightfully "Marmion - A Tale of Flodden Field". This ref should take you there: http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=NdM3AAAAYAAJ&pg=PA137&dq=the+Stainless+knight+flodden++marmion&hl=en&sa=X&ei=mJZyU_XwB-GI7AbPmICIBw&ved=0CDgQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=the%20Stainless%20knight%20flodden%20%20marmion&f=false Plucas58 (talk) 22:08, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Great! Will you fix the entry for Thurland Castle please?--Amschaal (talk) 07:07, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
