Repost of Top Ten SEC on CBS Games

edit

A tag has been placed on Top Ten SEC on CBS Games requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion process. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this:   which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's discussion directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of recreating the page. Thank you. 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs articles

edit

Hi there. You might want to participate in the discussion at Talk:2014 Stanley Cup playoffs#Conference Quarterfinals or Division Semifinals? Possibly something else?. We have been getting conflicting sources on what to call these playoff rounds (including various pages on NHL.com itself), so additional comments are welcome. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (talk) 01:08, 20 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Did you even participate in this discussion? Obviously you did not, and so I reverted your edits on the Template:16TeamBracket-NHL Divisional bracket template again. As I mentioned in that discussion, the league started to officially back away from the "Division semifinals" and "Division Finals" wording when the playoffs began because it started to cause confusion when they tried to explain how wild cards could "cross over" to the other division's bracket. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (talk) 02:54, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Brady-Manning rivalry

edit

The article Brady-Manning rivalry has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Pure WP:NOR, no rivalry exists between the two players.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Big Three (Miami Heat)

edit

I'm glad that someone finally created this article. I see that you are putting a lot of details about James and now Wade as individuals into the article. My unsolicited advice is to devote more to how they came together, and what they have achieved together. Readers that want details on the players themselves can go directly to the LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh articles. The strength of this article will be on reading what they did together. Keep up the editing!—Bagumba (talk) 03:11, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Michiganwolverines2014,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Stanford–USC football rivalry should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Stanford–USC football rivalry .

2013 NFL Thanksgiving Day Games

edit

A reminder: You are going to provide reliable sources to it so the article complies with WP:SPORTSEVENT, right? Thanksgiving regular season games are not inherently notable without proof, and could be merged back into the NFL on Thanksgiving article. Otherwise, it might later be nominated for deletion like those individual Cowboys Classic and AdvoCare Texas Kickoff games. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (talk) 17:44, 27 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Reliable, secondary sources are also required on the 2014 NFL Thanksgiving Day Games page. You seem to be only using that article to post live scores today. There are a group of editors who disagree with that practice of adding visible match scores to an article when the game is progress. Wikipedia is not Wikinews, nor is it a sports ticker tape. Thanks. Proposed deletion of 2014 NFL Thanksgiving Day Games

edit

The article 2014 NFL Thanksgiving Day Games has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Individual regular season pro football games are not inherently notable per WP:SPORTSEVENT.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ...William 18:40, 27 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your addition to Big Three (Miami Heat) has been removed or altered, as it appears to closely paraphrase a copyrighted source. Limited close paraphrasing or quotation is appropriate within reason, so long as the material is clearly attributed in the text. However, longer paraphrases which are not attributed to their source may constitute copyright violation or plagiarism, and are not acceptable on Wikipedia. Such content cannot be hosted here for legal reasons; please do not upload it. You may use external websites or printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If you own the copyright to the text, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the copyright but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you.—Bagumba (talk) 02:40, 26 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your contributed article, 2015 AFC Championship Game

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, 2015 AFC Championship Game. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – 2014-15 NFL playoffs. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at 2014-15 NFL playoffs – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Aerospeed (Talk) 22:38, 23 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of 2015 NFC Championship Game

edit

The article 2015 NFC Championship Game has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Violation of WP:SPORTSEVENT to warrant a stand-alone article: this was not "the final series (or single game when there is not a series) determining the champion of a top league" (that would be Super Bowl XLIX), and currently only consists of a game summary that does not establish notability from independent reliable sources "outside routine coverage of each game" (per WP:ROUTINE)

Stop re-creating WAY into the future NCAA Tournament articles

There's a well-established college basketball consensus that any national tournament beyond one year away is not notable per WP:TOOSOON. Wikipedia's non-free image criteria

edit

Hi there, I have noticed that you have attempted to add various non-free images to articles, particularly articles on the NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament. Please note that Wikipedia has a higher standard regarding fair use and non-free images than the United States or other countries. This policy can be found on Wikipedia:Non-free content.

I believe you should pay special attention to Wikipedia:Non-free content#Policy rule # 10, which reads:

  • Image description page. The image or media description page contains the following:
    1. Identification of the source of the original copyrighted material, supplemented, where possible, with information about the artist, publisher and copyright holder, and year of copyright; this is to help determine the material's potential market value. See: Wikipedia:Citing sources § Multimedia.
    2. A copyright tag that indicates which Wikipedia policy provision is claimed to permit the use. For a list of image copyright tags, see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free content.
    3. The name of each article (a link to each article is also recommended) in which fair use is claimed for the item, and a separate, specific non-free use rationale for each use of the item, as explained at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline.[1] The rationale is presented in clear, plain language and is relevant to each use.

So for example, if you want to add File:2015FinalFourLogo.png to 2015 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship Game, you need to edit the File:2015FinalFourLogo.png page to add a separate non-free rationale for that article, per Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline, stating your rationale. Because that image page only currently lists a rationale for 2015 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, the logo is only permitted on that article. And I bellieve you should repeat this procedure for all the other NCAA national championship articles.

Thanks. Zzyzx11 (talk) 01:47, 8 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

References

  1. ^ A redirect pointing to the page where the non-free content is intended to be used is acceptable as the article name in the non-free use rationale.

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of 2016 Sugar Bowl, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://sugarbowllivestream.com/tag/sugar-bowl-live-stream/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. License tagging for File:2017 Final Four Logo.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:2017 Final Four Logo.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:09, 8 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Unrivaled (E:60) moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Unrivaled (E:60), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Proposed deletion of The Perfect 10 (NFL film)

edit

The article The Perfect 10 (NFL film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Appears to fail WP:NFILM. Tagged for notability

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
