Hello Wikifiers!

Sorry this Newsletter is late, It should have gone out a month ago. I've been very busy in real life and didn't have time to get over to the newsletter. In this edition of the Newsletter, we have an editorial written by our new executive coordinator; Guoguo12. Guoguo12 has succeeded Mono due to an indefinite wikibreak. We also have the results of the February and March Mini drives.

Happy Wikifying,

A German Welcome to the Multilingual Challenge

A German writer! Welcome to the Wright Challenge. Feel free to ask further questions here or here, or ask Andrew or I. I,m currently in Vienna talking to the Austrian Wikimedia people so its a coincidence. If you are looking for an article linked to Germany then can I recommend Peter Perez Burdett who had a second life in Karlsruhe after fame in Derby and Liverpool. Good luck (There is also a German Count (Graf?) who ended up painting plates for our Prime Minister...) Victuallers (talk) 12:06, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Azerbaijan

Hi Doh and thanks for your feedback on the review of Azerbaijan for Good article status. I very much appreciate your efforts. I also took for your advise and adjusted the article accordingly. What other criteria is there for this article to meet the Good article criteria? Neftchi (talk) 09:42, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your quick response and review, I appreciate it. I will continue to work on FA status, if you have feedback regarding those criteria, I welcome it. Neftchi (talk) 07:49, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

Azerbaijan GA

I'm quite surprised you approved this. Of the Wikipedia:Good article criteria it doesn't quite hold up to 1b, 3b, and 6a. Anyway, since you've done it, I suggest you quickly ask User:Neftchi to deal with File:Transheya.jpg, a copyrighted image with no fair use rationale for the article. Once that's done, 6a will be fixed, which is the main issue (Wikipedia+slighly disputable copyright=big hoohah). Cheers, Chipmunkdavis (talk) 10:49, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

I have temporary removed the picture to solve the license issue. This way it should not hinder the status. Neftchi (talk) 11:05, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
Appreciated, both of you. Status has been approved Neftchi; no-one can "hinder" it without taking it to WP:GAR as far as I know. Good luck, keep it going to meet the WP:FAC. Chipmunkdavis (talk) 11:11, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

Argentina at the 1964 Summer Paralympics

Just reviewed Argentina at the 1964 Summer Paralympics for DYK, and while all the basic criteria look good, there's a missing ref (#3). Would you fill that one in? Then I think it's good to go. Thanks for tackling a worthy subject. Cheers, Khazar (talk) 06:17, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

"Nation" at XXXX Paralympics

Thanks for all your efforts on these articles. A guideline for how the layout of them should look (when finished) can be found at WikiProject Olympics' Manual of Style, in particular each page should have the relevant infobox added even at an early stage of page development. If you need any help working out how to add these then feel free to ask me for assistance . Thanks - Basement12 (T.C) 01:17, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

1972 Paralympics DYK nominations

Hi, I reviewed the Australia, South Africa, and Argentina Paralympics articles that you nominated for DYK. I have one stickler-ish issue that should be resolved on each article; once the issue has been dealt with, the three articles should be all good to go. --Starstriker7(Talk) 02:37, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

DYK for Mega Jail

Hi Doh, just wanted to let you know that there are still some issues with your nomination of Louis Theroux: Miami Mega Jail at the DYK suggestions board. Right now the article has a copyedit tag on it and as such I fear it is not ready for the main page. Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:52, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

RfA

Hi Doh5678. I undid your RfA transclusion because the candidate hasn't accepted the nomination or answered the questions yet, and I don't want people opposing them on that basis. Feel free to undo my undo once the nomination is complete. Best, 28bytes (talk) 18:32, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Wait, does this candidate really only have 166 edits? I suggest not transcluding at all, if that's the case; they'll just get beaten up and WP:NOTNOWed. 28bytes (talk) 18:42, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
True, but people really shouldn't NOTNOW the newbies. Good Luck with your Rfa! Doh5678 Talk 18:46, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
Actually, WP:NOTNOW is specifically for newer users. It should not be cited for opposing a more established user. Also, it's standard practice to let the candidate transclude the RfA subpage him- or herself (or the nominator can do it, if the candidate explicitly approves doing so). If someone doesn't know how to transclude a page, they probably shouldn't be an admin. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 18:50, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
Doh, you'd be doing such users a far greater service if you were to send them a link to THIS, while at the same time explaining to them that Wikipedia is a serious project. Perhaps you should read it yourself too. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 19:43, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Argentina at the 1972 Summer Paralympics, South Africa at the 1972 Summer Paralympics, Australia at the 1972 Summer Paralympics

Hello! Your submission of Argentina at the 1972 Summer Paralympics, South Africa at the 1972 Summer Paralympics, Australia at the 1972 Summer Paralympics at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know!

Sorry to use the standard template but it's a bit easier as a starting point (the red link won't work but the link to the nom will)... All three of these nominated articles are fine in terms of length etc but we're having a hard time finding a suitable hook that links them all. I think three hooks, one for each, would be a suitable solution but even then I feel there is actually very little content to the articles in terms of results (distances, times etc) so it provides very little scope. Further expansion of all three to include addirion facts that could be used for DYK is still a possibility so please make some suggestions. If you want any assistance with this don't hesitate to ask as I'd be more than willing to help - Basement12 (T.C) 23:54, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
