About me
editI'm a 30-something English IT consultant living in a leafy suburb of London, although I have a degree in Genetics and a wide variety of interests. I have a fairly low attention span, which means I haven't got close to taking one article to Good or Featured standard, but makes me quite effective as a roving cleaning/anti-vandal/minor article improvement janitor. This roving around Wikipedia has, much like the Marauders of Harry Potter fame, led to my understanding of most of the less-travelled pathways of Wikipedia, and I like to help out on the Helpdesk and New contributors' help page. Other than that, I keep an eye on my watchlist, fix and improve where I can, get frustrated with vandals and try to help with the wikify mountain.
If there's any way I can help you, please don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page.
Oh, as for the user name, it comes from a supporting character in A Wizard of Earthsea, one of the very best books I read as a child, and one of the more influential on my life.
Incidentally, I am mentoring my girlfriend on Wikipedia, she is User:Lynnathon; should our areas of editing overlap, that is why. Neither of us is a sockpuppet of the other, and we don't always agree of Wikipedia issues! :-)
Interests
editA small cross-section of some the subjects I'm interested in:-
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this great encyclopedia - something that pulled the web out of its first Dark Age, and is likely the greatest collaborative learning experience in human history. 6,911,740 pinpricks of light in the darkness of human ignorance...
That's all for now.

Here is an example of a link which activates a Google search: Tip of the day, on Wikipedia It was built using this wikilink: Sometimes it is useful to place a link to a Google search directly in a discussion. You can also use links to predefine an entire search session, and then use a tool like WP:LINKY to open the searches all at once into separate web browser tabs. – – Read more: To add this auto-updating template to your user page, use {{totd-tomorrow}}
