I'm afraid the article is completely lost now, and can't be restored.
Please don't remove Speedy tags - that's considered vandalism. If you don't agree, add a hangon tag, as suggested by the Speedy tag itself.--MichaelMaggs 21:42, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- Who the hell is Quadell? and how dare he delete one of my pages that was one of the only histories of this house attributed to Wren on the internet. Someone had better have a bloody good explanation! Giano | talk 21:47, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Shhhh calm down. Everything is undeletable; as I have just done. I take it the thought that this page is copied from a print source is nonsense, Giano? If so, please make that clear here and remove the copyvio tag. —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 21:49, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well, let me just note that if Giano says this page isn't a copyvio, as he does, there is no reason to disbelieve him. —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 23:03, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
question
edithey I'm really glad Giano is still around :-) this is a really interesting article about something I've never heard of. I'm curious about the following sentence
Inigo Jones, Christopher Wren or a talented provincial draughtsman.
this is the last sentence in the lead and it has no verb. should it be merged with the sentence before it?
The architect of the mansion has been a matter of prolonged architectutal debate.
into something like
"The architect of the mansion has been a matter of prolonged architectutal debate and it is uncertain whether it was designed by Inigo Jones, Christopher Wren or a talented provincial draughtsman."
for some reason I like the idea of starting this article with a question since it is apparently a mystery, so I would suggest something like
"The architect of the mansion has been a matter of prolonged architectutal debate. Was it designed by Inigo Jones, Christopher Wren or a talented provincial draughtsman?"
but there may be a better way to write this. DVD+ R/W 23:41, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- Please do what you think best DVD RW, when I started an FAC once though in similar vein, I was rather rudely informed Wikipedia was an encyclopedia not an Agatha Christie novel (or words to that effect). This whole page needs a re-vamp so have a go with it - it can only get better! I love a good mystery personally. My money is on Wren designing from afar, with a local man reading and interpretating the plans - just my gut feeling - no evidence to support it. Giano 23:48, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- may I ask which article was in a similar vein, I'd like to read that too. with no prior knowledge on this, I would have much studying to catch up, so what I think is best for me to do is to encourage you to write it, if anyone is going to write it. I have read more Doyle than Christie though so if I wrote it, it would be considered more Doyley than Christiean at the hypothetical FAC. DVD+ R/W 00:46, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
