In the "Who's Who of Welsh International Footballers" by Gareth M. Davies and Ian Garland, the authors claim that William Roberts played for Aston Villa between 1882 and 1884, making five FA Cup appearances. He also played in a 6–1 defeat against Queen's Park which "signalled the end of his career". This information is not confirmed by the Aston Villa player database who list a "Walter David Roberts" who played five FA Cup matches between May 1882 and September 1884. This player was born in 1859 in Stourbridge and joined Villa from Norton FC (Stourbridge) and moved on to Church FC.[1] -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 06:49, 7 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
