Recent games

Feelings expressed the minutes after a game has finished are hardly very relevant to an article about a referee. We all know that each time an English team goes out in a big tournament, the Wikipedia article about the referee gets targeted. Possible errors made in a match could perhaps be inserted after some time, but to put them in immediately afterwards is both giving them undue weight and recentism.JdeJ (talk) 06:47, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

New 2010 FIFA World Cup section

Please don't keep the information about Henning Øvrebø being a pre-selected referee for the 2010 FIFA World Cup under the 2008-09 UEFA Champions League information with all the controversy of his refereeing ability during the Chelsea v. Barcelona match. Somebody needs to move it to another section, perhaps '2010 FIFA World Cup'? 69.255.16.132 (talk) 20:28, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Drogba

Just a thought, but Drogba didn't actually specify that he was talking about the referee's performance (or that solely) when he said "it's a fucking disgrace", even if the Independent seem to imply that, intentionally or not. A lot of the media, including the Guardian, seem to think the "it" Drogba was referring to was the entire spectacle, which he apparently believed to be the result of a fix and a UEFA conspiracy. I certainly took him to be referring to something other than just the referee's performance. Either way, he didn't specify that he just meant the referee, and hasn't made himself clear since. Should we really be claiming that he called the referee's performance a disgrace when he didn't actually say that and it isn't clear exactly what he meant? MarkB79 (talk) 00:43, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Wikipedia should be going by established facts only -- and the only thing that we can be sure of is this: "The Chelsea player Didier Drogba, when the final whistle was blown, reacted by shouting expletives which were also caught by the TV cameras". That's all we know, so far. We will probably not learn much more, either, about this episode. -The Gnome (talk) 16:52, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

"He therefore ended his international career" suggests it was "as a consequence of", and not simply "subsequent to", not being selected for SA 2010. Is this the case?
