Hi, I'm working on May Mann's page. She stated that she won the 1938 Miss Utah pageant, and I'm trying to verify it with another source. What source was used for the early winners? thanks Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 19:08, 1 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi Rachel, I'm not actually sure to be honest, there are sites that have lists compiled but I can't find anything on the official Miss Utah page. But I took a trip to Newspapers.com and it's interesting, all the articles from 1940 ish onwards describe May Mann as "Miss Utah 1938" but I also have a news article from 1938 that says the winner was Muriel Godspeed [1]. It might be that she won a different pageant but the press just simplified it or didn't know any better - it happens more than you'd think. ... CJ [a Kiwi] inOz 23:29, 1 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
