History
editAs mentioned in the page, the history of this pageant is quite sketchy. The winners list is also partial. Joey80 08:41, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

This is a messy history. There are two organizations apparently organizing two different pageants with similar name, Miss Globe vs Miss Globe International. They are both registered in United Stated Patents and Trademarks Office. Miss Globe seems more legit because it registered in 74' and the other one is registered in 2008. There is no proof the formation is 1925. Also Miss Globe International headquarter is not in Hollywood, nor Miss Globe. Miss Globe International is not registered by Charlie See, however, Miss Globe did. This history is a combination of two and it should be fixed. Either the title needs to be fixed or delete the whole page. Very confusing.2607:FEA8:A2A0:A8B:C1B8:566D:F8D4:4EAA (talk) 05:30, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Miss globe.gif
editImage:Miss globe.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Edit warring over web sites
editUmmm. Has anyone done the checking of these two sites?
Both of them look legit, basically. I will do some more digging around the web to see if I can find something to comfirm if one is "right" for this article, but on the face of it, it is hard to tell. The front page of the one with the hyphen in the web address just says 'Miss Globe', the other's front page uses the 'international'. If they are both legit, than they are two seperate entities with similar names; and one page should be called "Miss Globe", and the other "Miss Globe International". Hamamelis (talk) 17:13, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not a lawyer, so I'll invite some to this page. Apparently, these are the relevant legal pages for both sites:
- http://www.missglobe-international.com/index2010.html
- Additionally, website #1 says their pageant takes place from October 15–30, in Istanbul, Turkey;
Website #2 says their's takes place from September 12–25, in Saranda, Albania.
Hamamelis (talk) 17:56, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- I agree. Looking at the websites it appears Miss Globe is a different organisation to Miss Globe International. Unfortunately, the one independent source we have has got them confused. The Miss Globe International organisation appears to have a longer history, and, albeit not very good, does at least have one independent source. The Miss Globe organisation do not have an independent source (though the Fat China book may be referring to that organisation rather than the International one, as - according to the International website - the International event has not been held in China). I don't see enough sources for Miss Globe, so a new article on that would be inappropriate. Perhaps a note in this article that there is also an organisation called Miss Globe that should not be confused with Miss Globe International? SilkTork *YES! 13:28, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Regarding the edit warring - it has gone on too long. I am putting a semi-protect on the page for three months to allow this article a period of stability in which it can be built up. SilkTork *YES! 13:30, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
BLP and COI
editIn March 2010, the article went to AFD (HERE), however, the new owner of the pageant, Rasim Aydin and its staff continue to edit the article and insert promotional materials and provide a list of people which impacts upon BLP considerations. The content of the article has been challenged many times. It was decided by an Admin to "remove the contentious list of people from the article. None of the people should be replaced in the article until there is a reliable source for them."--Angel Clinton (talk) 23:19, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
Misuse of sources
editThe source titled "96-years old Charlie confused the names of pageants in Turkey" (from a Turkish newspaper) is written as sarcasm and not to be used as a reliable source. I invite the editor who used the source to undo their edit without having to apologize once again for "honest mistakes". --E4024 (talk) 23:19, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
Another misuse of sources
edit"Cumhuriyet" newspaper news has nothing to do with the 1925 affair. That source is about the "first" beauty pageant in Turkey realised in 1929. --E4024 (talk) 23:50, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
Yet another misuse of sources
editThe source no 8 -as of this moment- is not titled "Women and Culture" (that is the title of an antology of articles) and in that antology Dr Yüksel Göğebakan (see "References" of our article) appears with an academic article titled "WOMEN AS THE MOTHER GODDESS CULT IN ANATOLIA" (whose abstract in English is also provided). This article deals with the paganic concept of "Mother Goddess" in Anatolia and does not mention anywhere the first, second, or any other beauty pageant realised in the Republic of Turkey. No need to say, it does not make any mention of Miss Globe Organisation. That article could be helpful as a source in the articles considering Anatolian goddesses like Kybele. As I supported the deletion of this article I do not remove that source and leave the honour to the editor who has installed it there without justification. --E4024 (talk) 16:59, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
Pic belongs here?
editSays "Miss Estonia". No ref. to Miss Globe. Honest mistake? --E4024 (talk) 16:23, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
- Picture is from Miss Globe Estonia 2011 competition. See Miss Globe Estonia 2011 Official Website. The same girl is on the front page. Proudbolsahye (talk) 20:52, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
Official site should not be used as a reference
editThere are many reasons to avoid using the official site as a reference. The most important reason is that it is affiliated to the subject, and cannot be considered reliable. More seriously, though, there are a number of claims it makes, particularly where the history of the pageant is concerned, that simply CANNOT be supported by references elsewhere. Not least of which is the claim that Marilyn Monroe won the pageant in 1947. We are talking a girl who became a worldwide megastar and has had LOTS of research, publicity, dozens of biographies and coverage on her life and career. Absolutely nowhere in any of these sources is it stated that she won such a pageant in 1947, nor is her name linked to "Miss Globe" outside the official website (which cannot even spell her name correctly) or references to the official website. The official site has totally blown any claim to credibility out of the water with such a claim. Even if it hasn't received publicity or coverage, (according to the Albanian Tourist Board) the almost complete absence of sources pre-dating the 1990s is genuinely startling. If even a group of dedicated fans like Pageantopolis cannot find ANY documentation predating 1988 for the contest, this implies that the entire history section of www.missglobeinternational.com is one very elaborate hoax. - "Which" official site? Please see Talk section 3 and the recent history (Feb. 2013) of the Infobox... --E4024 (talk) 01:33, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- I was thinking of www.missglobeinternational.com which was the one mainly used as a reference for this article before (absolutely inappropriately where history was concerned). So there are two "Miss Globe" pageants. Aargh.... Mabalu (talk) 01:52, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Change Miss Globe to Miss Globe International
editThis should be changed to Miss Globe International and should not be redirected here from Miss Globe (Australianblackbelt (talk) 11:11, 13 October 2016 (UTC))
I am totally agree that Miss Globe should not be redirected to Miss Globe International simply because I found both of them has their own trademark. I don't know how Miss Globe International can register their trademark even though Miss Globe has been around since 74'. Check United State Patents and Trademarks Office.2607:FEA8:A2A0:A8B:C1B8:566D:F8D4:4EAA (talk) 05:18, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
Short description
editWhy is the short description "Turkish beauty contest"? It's based in Albania. PhilKnight (talk) 00:29, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
