Manual of Style - How to Note a Batchelder Award
editOne of the issues with the award is that it's given to the publisher, yet explicitly references a given work, its translator and author. Currently works on Wikipedia that mention the award state it like this: "Friedrich won the American Library Association's 1972 ALSC Batchelder Award for children's books." In truth, the publisher won the award - the award then lists the Title, Translator and Author. The question is how does the Encyclopedia accurately note the award? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.238.22.59 (talk) 15:27, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- One way to note the award might be: "Friedrich was the subject of a 1972 Batchelder Award." I think that correctly notes the award without unwittingly denigrating the book itself, which might occur if one goes for greater specificity like this: "Friedrich was the subject of a 1972 Batchelder Award given to it's publisher for best translated children's book." It's something that I think will require a bit of crafting - and will likely be tweaked and improved as each notation of the award is placed and another set of editors takes a crack at it. 76.238.22.59 (talk) 15:38, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- I did a small change to the text as it existed at Brave Story, it was adjusted to this: "The novel was the subject of a Batchelder Award for a publisher of an outstanding children's book translated from a foreign language in the United States." -76.238.22.59 (talk) 16:28, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- Adjusted existing text at Hans Peter Richter to this, "Friedrich was the subject of an American Library Association 1972 ALSC Batchelder Award." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.238.22.59 (talk) 16:32, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Help for a newbie editor
editHello, I was just adding updating the Recipient section to include the new 2018 winners. My edit is accurate, but, when I click "Publish Changes", the "Multiple awards and honors" section and everything below it somehow got added into the Recipient table. I tried to get it out of there, but I don't know how, and I don't want to mess up the page more than I already did. If someone can help, I would be very grateful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Professor Encyclopedia (talk • contribs) 22:39, 24 November 2018 (UTC)
Can we add the 2018 winner and honors to the 'Recipients' section
editFor some reason, when ever I try to edit it myself, it messes up the article by putting the 'Multiple awards and honors' into the 'Recipients' table. So if somebody else can add them, that would be great. Here's the winner and runner ups from ALSC website: http://www.ala.org/alsc/awardsgrants/bookmedia/batchelderaward/batchelderpast --Professor Encyclopedia (talk) 03:06, 25 November 2018 (UTC)
