Luciano González (footballer) → Luciano González (Spanish footballer) – WP:AT / WP:PRECISE ambiguous disambiguation is a bad idea. There are multiple footballers by this name. The Argentinian Luciano González (rugby union) is a type of footballer; the current title should point to the disambiguation page Luciano González -- 64.229.90.28 (talk) 17:02, 28 December 2022 (UTC) This is a contested technical request (permalink). – robertsky (talk) 14:31, 30 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
- Currently title is adequately precise. In the future, if we have another article that could be at the source, we can revisit the issue. - UtherSRG (talk) 19:55, 28 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
- We already have another article that could be described as a footballer, the rugby footballer. Thus this fails WP:CRITERIA "Precision – The title unambiguously identifies the article's subject and distinguishes it from other subjects" as it does not does not distinguish between football codes, as rugby players, Aussie-rules players, etc are all called "footballer" -- 64.229.90.28 (talk) 04:01, 29 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
- I concur; per Rugby union, the sport is a
code...of rugby football
(emphasis mine). I'd open a RM. 🐶 EpicPupper (he/him | talk) 03:48, 30 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
- Oppose per WP:NCSP, we only use the (footballer) disambiguator for association and Australian rules footballers. Rugby disambiguators are different.--Ortizesp (talk) 16:26, 30 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
- Agree with this. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 16:37, 30 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
- That has nothing to do with failing WP:PRECISE, that only has to do with the choice of article disambiguator, not whether the choice of disambiguator is ambiguous. NCSP does not say that "footballer" does not mean a rugby player, only that you should not use it to title a rugby player article. This title is still ambiguous, as almost all readers of Wikipedia do no memorize NCSP. Only people who memorize NCSP would know that footballer would never title a rugby player article. While in the world at large, "footballer" is used to refer to rugby player as well as Aussie-rules and association football, and is thus 'ambiguous to the readership'. It is easily shown that this is the case in the real world outside of Wikipedia. [1][2][3][4][5][6] -- 64.229.90.28 (talk) 19:48, 30 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

- Oppose - no ambiguity between the association football player and the rugby player. GiantSnowman 15:51, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
- Oppose. No ambiguity here. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:51, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
