Incomplete
editThis list is quite incomplete. How can one contribute to it?
Recently (about two years ago) I read in the Times Literary Supplement that both Abraham Lincoln and Elvis Presley were of Turkish descent. Perhaps one can research this matter.

Engineers
edit- Ozcan Inci, Mechanical Engineer at Mercedes-Benz, responsible for the brake systems. Founder of TurkNorthAmerica.com[1]
- Özalp Babaoğlu, professor of computer science.
Could someone remove Mihran Mesrobian from this list as well, please? He is Armenian. Yes, born in what is Turkey today, but that's the case for almost all notable Armenian-Americans from the early to mid-twentieth century. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.69.190.75 (talk) 04:56, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Edit request from User1637, 27 September 2011
edit{{edit semi-protected}} Arzu Yonak should be added to the list of Turkish Americans. She is most notable as Turkish-American model; she was Miss Model of USA in the Miss Model of the World competition in 2005: http://www.intmodel.com/2005contestants6.asp and modeled with agencies in Turkey at that time where she did runway shows, tv and magazines. I think (can't verify), this should also makes her the only Turkish person to represent the United States in an International competition (at least for beauty).
She is also a fashion writer, she has a website ( http://www.socialitestyle.com ) in New York -- it has bio and appears she works in public relations.

Cem Kaner is not Turkish, even if his name seems to be purely Turkish. Please remove. Schlingel0017 (talk) 05:12, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
Done The inclusion criteria are "people who have Turkish ancestry (or have or had Turkish citizenship for those of non-Turkish ethnic descent) and are citizens of the United States." - which, given his name, seems highly likely. However, "To be included in this list, the person must have a Wikipedia article showing they are Turkish American or must have references showing they are Turkish American and are notable." Cem Kaner's article makes no mention of him being Turkish, or of Turkish descent, let alone giving a reference. Arjayay (talk) 10:38, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

This page has lots of red links that do not have refs that are independent and are sufficient to show that the person meets wiki notability standards at all. Those should be deleted. But the page is protected. Please delete them. User:DRAGON BOOSTER pointed out this was necessary a year ago -- but they all remain. I see another editor complained above before that about the same thing. That is a long time to leave non notable people here. Just because they exist is not enough.2604:2000:E016:A700:1943:3B27:4E78:CD1B (talk) 06:21, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- Note: Every person on the list should have a Wikipedia article or should have sources supporting that they are notable. There was only one red link which was un-cited. I removed the entry. regards, DRAGON BOOSTER ★ 08:22, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks, but it is not enough to have a ref that shows that the person exists. The refs have to show the person meets wikipedia standards. So for example look at the first red link you left in. It has a ref. But the ref is to the person's resume. It shows the person is an associate professor. It is not an independent RS source. And the fact that the person is an associate professor does not meet wikipedia's notability standards. All the other red links are pretty much the same. Or worse. Many are this - which does not appear to be an RS and does not appear to work either. They do not show the person meets either gng or the specific notability standard for what that person does. Also -- a number, like this one, certainly while not RS also don't even show that the person in Turkish American -- which is a total requirement to be listed here in the first place .. it is what the list is about .. how can we allow that to stay in on the basis of these non-working, non-RS refs that don't say the person is Turkish American? They should have been deleted long ago. Please do it now.
- Also, it looks as though even some blue links should be deleted. Because their articles don't say the person is Turkish American either. For example, Taner Akçam and İlhan Aksay and Özalp Babaoğlu and Çiğdem Balım Harding and Feza Gürsey and M. Şükrü Hanioğlu and Alp Ikizler and Mehmet Toner and Nur Yalman and Osman Yaşar -- somebody listed here every Turkish (no evidence of US citizenship) person teaching in the US ... even when there is no evidence they are Turkish-American .. which is what this list is for. This has been tagged for their removal at the top of the page for over a year. It is time. Please remove them, and the others that do not meet the standards of that tag (I just pointed out the blues in the first section that should be deleted .. which sadly are most of them. Thank you very much.
