Don't they have a website?
editI thought they had a site at www.hodgesfiggis.ie, but it's not responding now anyway. If it's normally there, it should be mentioned in the external links section. --Gronky (talk) 19:35, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hodges Figgis have their OWN website
- could someone please change the external links part of this item, and remove the waterstones link and ADD Their website instead. 81.102.43.118 (talk) 15:43, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
Irelands largest bookshop?
editI'm not entirely convinced. Its certainly a large bookstore, granted, but is it any larger than the new Chapters on Parnell Street or the Borders in the Blanchardstown Centre? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.44.40.49 (talk) 08:58, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
- Borders in Blanch is going or gone; Chapters, and the Waterstones opposite HF, are both probably bigger. Stifle (talk) 11:08, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
HF part of Waterstone's
editsee "HMV Group" at: http://www.waterstones.com/waterstonesweb/pages/about-waterstones/100000002/ "Together with HMV music stores , Waterstone's is part of the HMV Group plc , which launched on the stock market in 2002. Waterstone's trades as Waterstone's, Hatchards (in London) and Hodges Figgis (in Dublin)." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Griffindd (talk • contribs) 12:15, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

- Article is new enough, long enough, neutral and mostly well-cited (there's a couple of sentences at the end of the "20th and 21st centuries" that don't end in citations, would recommend supplying each with one). As for the hook, ALT0 is interesting and most concise, though I think we can make it more concise (thus hookier) by abbreviating "Irish writers: 250 authors, poets and playwrights" to just "250 Irish writers". Also still waiting on a QPQ. DigitalIceAge (talk) 01:24, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Many thanks DigitalIceAge. I will seek citations to add (I understand that the basic requirement is at least one per paragraph, and for direct quotes, but of course ideal to cover all key statements). I'm happy to make an even hookier ALT, I do see the risk of trying to put too much info upfront. It is a pity I can't just offer "probably the third oldest bookshop in the world" but that is hard to solidly ground in refs (#1 and #2 are pretty robustly referenced, but #3 and #4 Hatchards of London (interetsingly, both now within Waterstones) are simply not as authoritatively backed. QPQ is done and listed above (already in a Prep queue) - I just should have amended the comment, sorry! SeoR (talk) 10:04, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Citation addition done for now. Extra alt as suggested, could go like:

- ALT0a ... that Hodges Figgis, bookseller of Dublin, celebrated its 250th year with the largest ever anthology of new Irish writing, by 250 contributors? - @SeoR: Looks good! Ha, I sympathize with your frustration, I deal with a lot of "I'm-the-first-no-I'm-the-first" rugpulls in my own subject matter. Approve ALT0a. DigitalIceAge (talk) 18:08, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
