Merge proposal
editI would like to propose merging Houting into Coregonus lavaretus. A recent BMC Ecology paper has found that Houting are genetically indistinguishable from the European Whitefish; as a result, we now have two articles referring to the same species of fish. The information pertaining to the Houting and it's controversial status would better be suited as a section in the Whitefish article. Pax Brittanica (talk) 22:44, 14 October 2023 (UTC)

Too late to say, but perhaps not a very logical move, as there are numerous other European "species" of Coregonus that similarly are genetically indistinguishable and considered part of Coregonus lavaretus (sensu lato), but still have their own articles here.
