Reviewing a map of the county roads connecting the incomplete sections of SR 76 showed incomplete highway grading and sections of said roads which match ADOT state highway construction standards and have high reinforced steel concrete bridges over the San Pedro River and a local wash north of Pomerene. Being a well informed Arizona resident, I find it hard to believe Cochise County and Pima County (where the sections are located) ever paid for such upgrades to Cascabel Road and Redington Road, considering the low importance and relative isolation of the region from large population areas or major highways. I plan to take a look at the ADOT right-of-way plans/as-builts soon to confirm or disprove whether these short sections were constructed by the state for SR 76. The history of SR 76 is very intriguing and at times, surprising and confusing. For the longest time, highway buffs and experts on Arizona's roads assumed SR 76 had never been built, where digging around ADOT documents and files available to the public proved otherwise. — MatthewAnderson707 (talk|sandbox) 05:44, 7 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
