Gayatri Devi was an Indian politician and spouse of 5th Prime Minister of India Chaudhary Charan Singh. She served as Member of 7th Lok Sabha from Kairana Lok Sabha constituency[1] and Member of 5th Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Iglas Assembly constituency.[2] She was only first lady MLA from Mathura.[3]

Personal life
editShe was born on 5 December 1905 at Garhi kundal village in Sonipat district, Haryana.[4] She died on 10 May 2002[5] after a prolonged illness.[6] She married Charan Singh, Prime Minister of India on 5 June 1925.[7] The couple had six children, the most notable one being Ajit Singh, a noted politician and also a former Union Cabinet Minister.
