The course covers training of translating various texts in Japanese to English including considerations for linguistics' and cultural differences.
Leaning objectives: After fulfilling the required assignments successfully, students will be able to
- translate everyday topics such as social news, politics, entertainments, etc. in Japanese to English using learned general translation techniques and terminologies
- practice translating simple documents followed by a peer review (proof-reading by comparing the translated materials to the original materials)
- translate a text of any form in their chosen field (preferably, their own specialized field with some background knowledge in English).
Students use WikiEdu for their final projects, which weights 30% of the course grade.
