File permission problem with File:Accost app logo.png

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Accost app logo.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Anarchyte (work | talk) 12:00, 22 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sockpuppet investigation

edit

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Zhanglei123456, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Zhanglei123456. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Happn, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. If you have been paid to edit an article, please declare. A transparent declaration is much better and preferred. Lemongirl942 (talk) 15:17, 10 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Wang sicong

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Wang sicong requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. FYI User:Cabayi, Wang Sicong happens to be plenty notable. So no need to hassle this editor about the page. I developed it into something decent. If you or the other Speedy nominator had happened to do a little research before nominating him, you would have found dozens of high-qaulity refs sich as Blomberg, Forbes and the Irish Times. Thank you for your recent contributions. Getting started creating new articles on Wikipedia can be tricky, and you might like to try creating a draft version first, which you can then ask for feedback on if necessary, with less risk of deletion. Do make sure you also read help available to you, including Your First Article and the Tutorial. You might also like to try the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version.   Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Wang sicong, to Wikipedia, as doing so is not in accordance with our policies. For more information about creating articles, you may want to read Wikipedia:Your first article; you might also consider using the Article Wizard. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. The only positive thing in your recreation of this article is that you recreated it with the deletion request still included. As I said above, there is no need to hassle this editor. The article was actually for a notable person. The editor deserves a welcome rather than being hassled.104.163.141.133 (talk) 06:59, 18 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

  Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Boompi. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! {{unblock}}--Zhanglei123456 (talk) 07:22, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

The principal problem is I think you would be better off on using a Wikipedia in your first language. I don't see anything obviously wrong with the articles you created; social media apps aren't my thing personally but teenagers seem to love them.

What I can offer is this - you agree to only create new articles in draft space via the Articles for Creation process, where the draft can be reviewed by an independent editor. Articles accepted by this process rarely end up at a deletion debate, so it's more manageable all round. If you can accept this, I will unblock. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:43, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

hi.Ritchie333, glad to write me back,honestly,I know wikipedia rules ,but you blocked me for disruptive editing?are you kidding me? this article of Hinge (app) is notable on Google play and app store,and it also has news on nytimes,see: [1] now this article was under deletion debate :seeArticles_for_deletion/Hinge_(app) also.I have created these articles:Tang Yan (executive),Wang Sicong ,Happn.it indicates that I am NOT doing disruptive editing.on the contrary,I am doing undisruptive editing so,my behavior on wikipedia doesnt belong disruptive editing,please think twice before block users! have a nice day!--Zhanglei123456 (talk) 11:50, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

I've voted to keep Hinge at its deletion debate and supplied several sources to strengthen my argument, I know nothing about the other articles. The disruption is not what you are creating but how you are doing it; fundamentally other editors are confused about your intents and working methods, and it is creating disruption. Wouldn't it be better if these deletion debates didn't exist in the first place? Probably it would, hence my suggestion of using draft space from now on. I wouldn't know him from a hole in the ground and Beef up that first revision may be essays worth reading.
Anyway, as it stands, you can accept my offer of only using drafts, in which case I'll unblock, you can try your luck with another administrator (unblock requests are put in an active queue that all admins can see), or you can have a month's holiday. Personally in your shoes if an admin was offering me a way of an instant unblock, I'd take it and not squabble about semantics. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:03, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
hi Ritchie333, I am not arguing with you with my so called misbehavior,I just trying to state my opinion ,I am still confused what does supposed mean by what am I doing on wikipedia ,please tell me specifically with more details.appreciate ! like what kind of my behavior you think I am doing disruptive editing.please point it out by Revision history! thanks!--Zhanglei123456 (talk) 15:07, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
There are a couple of obvious signs - you insulted Lemongirl942, you've had a warning about signing posts, and a lot of warnings about short and possibly not notable articles. Okay, when these have been put to the debate, it turns out the topics are notable, or at least there's sufficient debate to err on the sign of inclusion. The problem here is that when people are busy debating the notability of a one-paragraph stub, they're obviously not working on other areas of the encyclopedia. So the best solution, and one that has been hinted - albeit subtly - in the past is that you really need to beef up your articles if you're going to put them into mainspace. Put in 2-3 paragraphs and about 5-6 sources, so that anyone looking at New Page Patrol will think, "yup, that's fine" and give it a clean bill of health. It saves time wasted in arguing in AfD debates, and means you get a cleaner talk page. A win-win situation, I think.
Let's take Hinge (app) as an example. Your first draft of the article is here, and my initial response is "Hinge is an app. Well we've got thousands, if not millions of those, what makes this one special enough to appear in an encyclopedia", and my second is "that image is too large to comply with a valid fair-use rationale, which means it's probably a copyright violation".
Now, let's contrast that with the last article I created, which happens to be Victoria Hotel, Amsterdam. From the first edit, it shows clear importance (the first Dutch hotel to have electric light), lots of famous people are documented as visiting it, and a major motion picture was made about it. If I had written "The Victoria Hotel is a hotel in Amsterdam. It sits on the corner of of Damrak and Prins Henrikkade" and left it at that, I suspect I'd get at least a {{notability}} tag parked on it. So I make sure I put in strong claims of why the article should be in the encyclopedia. Also, notice how I put a link to the corresponding article on the Dutch Wikipedia, which is far more developed - similarly you might find that providing a link to the corresponding article on the Chinese Wikipedia may allow people to help you improve the article.
If you want to go any further, have a look at some articles created by Wehwalt (such as Pilgrim Tercentenary half dollar) which are generally prepared offline and create at a very high standard from their first edit.
I hope that explains some things. As it is, I wish you'd just accept the offer of only creating articles in draft space from now, as it means I can unblock and we can put this behind us. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:12, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
