Timelines of the war in Donbass

edit

Hi Yulia, there is currently a request to the user who closed the AfD debate of the old timelines of the war in Donbass, which may (or not) result in the restoration of those pages as redirects, in order to save their histories or at least ther attribution. I am notice that you did restore one of the timelines; please avoid to perform further redirects until the current discussion is over. Thanks in advance.--Darius (talk) 11:51, 3 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Kiev Day and Night casts

edit

The casts in the show are either Russian and Ukrainian language. For instance, you can see Kiev day and night in Ukrainian Wikipedia. It shows the languages was Russian until season 4 and the language subsequently changed to Ukrainian. I don't know but I'll tell about the two countries (even if I'm in other region). Ukraine is a part of USSR until 1991 and has the same Russuan language and writing system. She is still enacts the Russian language within her territory. The naive person from Ukraine is still influenced by Russian language. The Supermind (talk) 20:37, 13 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

You have to be a pretty naive Ukrainian if you still want to be influenced by the Russian language since the ongoing Russian military intervention in Ukraine. The Russian language is used as an imperialistic tool by the current Russian government and I think people should not use any imperialistic tool of the current Russian government. (Sorry for looking impolite.)
Anyhow my point was that these days the English language world is seeing Ukraine and Russia as two different identities with different languages who have different spellings of names (Elina Svitolina vs. Jelina Svitolina). What people in Ukraine think about their identity has no influence on the spelling of names in English Wikipedia. The city of Mykolaiv can still be only spelled Mykolaiv on English Wikipedia because Mykolaiv is its common English name. For consistency within articles + the Wikipedia article on Mykolaiv. It would be really absurd if Mykolaiv would be different spelled in different current affairs Wikipedia articles. "Kiev Day and Night" is not a show from the past so Mykolaiv it is spelled there. I guess there are no such clear common English names for Ukrainian actors. But currently the Ukrainian variant seems to usually be used in common English media. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 22:01, 13 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
PS I have actually been to Mykolaiv and various other places in Ukraine. So I am aware that Russian is being spoken in Ukraine. I just personally think that the people who do that are making a mistake and I don't like that/it. I don't like Stepan Bandera either, by the way. You don't have to like Bandera to be against aggressive crypto fascist Russian imperialism, and I happen to oppose any form of imperialism. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 22:07, 13 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

DYK for Early Swallows

edit

On 19 April 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Early Swallows, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the 2019 Ukrainian teen drama Early Swallows was responsible for a 600-percent increase in calls to a mental-health helpline? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Early Swallows. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Early Swallows), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

And why the ministers are not still fully appointed? For some portfolios we have only deputy ministers. --Panam2014 (talk) 14:16, 2 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

It seems that President Zelensky and his party Servant of the People can not find people who want to be appointed.... Zelensky did complain that he could not find Ministers. This staffing problem could have been foreseen.... I myself do not find it strange that they can not find people. Zelensky himself and almost 100% of the people of Servant of the People were not involved in politics until November 2018 (I concluded this after my research for the expansion of the Wikipedia article about the party).... And the party has almost a minuscule membership compared with the membership of Western European political parties. I think that the party and President simply do not have the right network to find the right people and I have the feeling that a lot of experts do not want to be associated with Zelensky and his party (Ukraine's intellectual elite has turned against Zelensky). — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 20:13, 3 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Article updates a consequence of the 2020 administrative reform

edit

As you have discovered, I have started to update the articles adding info on the raion changes. I started with Cherkasy Oblasy, and my idea is to do it like this for abolished raions, this for retained and new raions, and this for affected localities. In principle, I am planning to do this alone (probably until the middle of the next year), but if you are planning some of this work we need to coordinate so that we have the same format.--Ymblanter (talk) 18:20, 30 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

I am currently updating the consequences of the 2020 Ukrainian local elections  , but I am very happy that you are updating the Ukrainian raion changes because the 2020 administrative reform did make for a lot of outdated raion articles   To be honest I was not intending to makes these updates....   If I will update articles adding info on the raion changes I will use your examples above. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 18:42, 30 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
