Template:Sockpuppet

I saw that you placed {{sockpuppet}} at User talk:Jimbo Aquino with this edit. The tag is usually reserved for socks identified after an WP:SPI has been completed. Placing the tag on its own won't prompt any action. I've removed it for now, but feel free to open an investigation. At the very least, the user should be reported to WP:AIV if you detect any further edits that continue their pattern of intentional misinformation. Unfortunately, the edits are somewhat stale right now to consider a block. I did block them for use of a famous name, Jimbo Aquino, which could be impersonating the actual person. However, they are free to rename their account and continue editing. Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 21:20, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

List of GMA Network slogans

Hey WayKurat! I was wondering what you thought of the article List of GMA Network slogans? I don't think there is enough reliable sources and or notability to let this list stand alone. Most of it is unsourced and I don't see why "slogans" should get their own stand-alone list. If anything, I would move the slogans with reliable sources to the GMA Network article, but then again, I don't think they should be listed anyways. I just wanted to know your opinion on it... I've also left a message on the talk page. Corkythehornetfan | Chat? 09:00, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

The article contains too much fancruft at first glance. Most of the IP editors keep on adding "seasonal" slogans that the network uses for a few months. Those seasonal slogans must go. Its rival network ABS-CBN also has its own slogan list article. For me, both must go or be integrated with the main article. -WayKurat (talk) 13:34, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
I didn't see that one, but I agree with you; I think it should go. I cannot stand sources from YouTube or another like Youtuber... I just don't think they are reliable sources (though others may have other opinions about that). I say let's go ahead and just redirect the pages to the GMA and ABS-CBN Corp. articles and if someone disagrees, they can revert and start a discussion. Should the pages be redirected too, if that's we do, or should they be left the same? Corkythehornetfan | Chat? 17:37, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
Done I've gone ahead and just made a redirect to the articles. If you think something else should be done, I'll be glad to discuss more. Corkythehornetfan | Chat? 21:13, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

User:Filomenatabanao

Recently, Filomenatabanao has been editing / targeting the Media sections of some key cities, such as Baguio, Puerto Princesa, Lucena, Laoag, Roxas & Tacloban, and does the following:

  • Adds "Rural Airwave Media Services", "STARWaves Media", "PrimeCities Broadcasting Network", "Countryside Broadcasting Group", "Flazh FM" & "Astig FM" to the list. I googled those companies and, in return, received "bot" info from digplanet.com, wordaz.com, worldheritage.org, wiki2.org, medlibrary.org, etc. So, those companies are probably hoax to me.

Check his contributions. Aside from undoing one or 2 of his targeted pages, I don't know what to do with his other hoaxes anymore. SUPERASTIG (message) 12:49, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

Overstatements on Mark Caguioa's page

This one is about Mark Caguioa's Career Statistics. The section referenced the website PBA-online, but if we compare the stats from his Wikipedia page and the PBA-online statistics some of the PPG are inconsistent, specifically in his first three seasons and in the 2009-2010, 2011-2012 and 2013-2014 seasons. I believe it should be adjusted so that it would confirm with its supposed source/reference. I believe I already made changes to correct his stats but you supposedly reverted my changes.

One fact to follow is that Mark Caguioa supposedly reached his 9,000th point on November 21, 2014 against the Meralco Bolts during the 2014-2015 PBA Philippine Cup. If we use the data from PBA-online as reference Caguioa would have 8,926 points by the end of the 2013-2014 season, which puts him right on schedule to get his 9,000 point by November 21, 2014. If we used the statistics from his current Wikipedia page, this will suggest that Caguioa accumulated an estimated 10,528.6 points by the end of the 2013-2014 season and imply that he reached the 9,000-point milestone in the middle of the 2012-2013 season.

Another is his indicated Career Points Per Game. In the Wikipedia page it is listed that he has an average of 16.72 PPG as of the end of the 2013-2014 season but the per season stats above it will not support it and will rather imply an average of around 19.7. However, if we use the stat from PBA-online he will have an average of 16.72 supported by the statistics per season.

Hey WayKurat, what do you think about this? It is unsourced. What's with this Pasior de Amor guy?

I noticed User:Pasior De Amor (ABS-CBN) has been making a lot of edits to articles related to TV, actors, etc. in the Philippines. None of his edits are obviously vandalism to me, and I'm not sure why they're all getting reverted. In one article, for example, he removed an unnecessary capital letter from "present" in a date range ("2014–present"), where the P really shouldn't be capitalized. Could you explain what exactly is going on here? dalahäst (let's talk!) 11:06, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

This editor is a possible sockpuppet of longterm vandal User:Christian2941. The said editor is known to add hoax information on various Filipino showbiz related articles, sometimes mixing it with legit edits. He/she is also known to have usernames based on TV shows or artists from the Philippine TV network ABS-CBN. As a proof that he is a sockpuppet of Christian2941, check this edit from the new sock and this edit from the blocked sockpuppet User:Alex Gonzaga (Kapamilya). He's known behavior is adding random "codes" at the top of articles he edits. For more information about the editing behavior of Christian2941, check out his SPI here. -WayKurat (talk) 11:24, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
I noticed the sockpuppet investigation. Nonetheless, the vast majority of this user's edits have nothing to do with vandalism, and some are outright helpful, as I mentioned. Could you explain why this revert was done, for example? The user introduced a useful wikilink and it got immediately removed for no apparent reason, without explanation. dalahäst (let's talk!) 11:32, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
As I explained above, he mixes his hoax edits with legit edits. That's his behavior since he started editing here. Some users get alerted if a new Christian2941 sock is created and as a precaution, reverts all of his edits, legit or not. -WayKurat (talk) 11:36, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
So they're basically collateral damage in a process to avoid checking each edit one by one. Huh. Strange that he would do that. If he'd just make the legitimate edits, he could actually be useful around here. dalahäst (let's talk!) 11:40, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
The fact that his hoaxes are subtle to most Wikipedians makes him more than enough of a nuisance, hence the ban imposed on him. So yeah, while they're collateral damage, I can say that regardless of whether they're are legit or not, any edits from him should be reverted unless if an editor who knows his way around Philippine showbiz-related articles can verify it. Blake Gripling (talk) 13:23, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

then I had many of revert here it seens here [1] did we see it? Oripaypaykim (talk) 11:29, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

Wowowin

Hello. This is to infer about the page Wowowin. The logo that I have uploaded here is the OFFICIAL one. It is much clearer than the old one so please do not delete it. Another thing is that if you would delete the song, please spare the theme song so that everybody would be able to hear the song. One thing again is the show have its two co hosts since last Sunday (June 21) that is why I've added it. You may check it on the official Facebook page of Wowowin - http://www.facebook.com/GMAWowowin. The crew list is not a disruptive edit instead it is the official list as viewed from the pilot episode of the variety show so there is no reason to remove it as it have been showed from the very beginning. Please kindly reconsider these things. Thanks. --Paoloplopenio (talk) 01:12, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

Noynoy Aquino page

Regarding the Noynoy Aquino page, the photo that i have uploaded was the official portrait of the president from the president's website that is why it should be reconsidered to be returned again. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paoloplopenio (talkcontribs) 17:14, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

In short, you just grabbed the photo from the Malacanang website, uploaded it here with a "free" license. This is not valid since the photo is owned by Malacanang and you provided an invalid license on it. Plus, there is an free, alternate picture of the president available in Wikipedia. When it comes to pictures, it is much preferred by Wikipedia to have photos that has a "free license". -WayKurat (talk) 00:50, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

Then what would be the appropriate license to be put with his official portrait? If that would be possible?--Paoloplopenio (talk) 01:10, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

There is already a freely licensed photo of the president available and it is better to let it remain there. -WayKurat (talk) 01:23, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

Okay! Then how about the same case with VP Binay? That, too, was his official portrait. Is there any way to be put on his page? How about if I will uset this one ascribed below in its copyright tags? Would it work? Thanks.

--Paoloplopenio (talk) 01:31, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

Please read the inner template of that license. It says "This file is NOT necessarily in the public domain in the United States". Even if you use the PD-Philippines template, it will still be considered copyrighted even if the work is created by someone from the government. For infoboxes, the general rule is you use free images and not non-free ones. -WayKurat (talk) 03:38, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

Miss World Philippines

With regards to the Miss World Philippines, I have added the theme song/official song of the beauty pageant. Would you mind if why did you removed the said audio clip? Is there something wrong with its licensing status/ copyright tags? Thanks.--Paoloplopenio (talk) 01:44, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

Under WP:NFC, a non-free music clip can only be accepted with the following criteria:
  1. Music clips may be used to identify a musical style, group, or iconic piece of music when accompanied by appropriate sourced commentary and attributed to the copyright holder. Samples should generally not be longer than 30 seconds or 10% of the length of the original song, whichever is shorter (see Wikipedia:Music samples).
  2. Spoken word clips of historical events, such as speeches by public figures, may be used when accompanied by appropriate sourced commentary and attributed to the speaker/author.
In your case, you have uploaded the whole song and there is no proper justification on why it was added there, besides being the "theme song" of the pageant. -WayKurat (talk) 03:40, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

Story on List of programs broadcast by ABS-CBN page

Hi WayKurat, I'm a UK journalist looking to tell the story of the hard-working people editing the List of programs broadcast by ABS-CBN page more often than the pages for Barack Obama, Hitler and Britney Spears. I know you're a major part of the task, and I'd like to highlight the great work you're doing, and to learn more about what motivates you. If you'd be interested in talking, my email address is stokel _at_ gmail _dot com_. Thanks! 2.26.53.169 (talk) 18:19, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

reverting the edit without telling the reason

Hello! I was wondering what made you change or disregard the edits that I have made since you did not leave any reason behind it or even messaged me. Genryusai yamamoto (talk) 04:54, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

The table that you have added to the List of defunct Philippine Basketball Association teams article is a duplicate of an existing table which is maintained for so many years now. Also, there is no need to add this table again to the main PBA article as it clutters to the whole article. What you can do is you update/modify the existing table so there won't any be duplicates. -WayKurat (talk) 05:18, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

Company genealogies

Hello again! you do know that Pepsi Cola/ 7-Up, Mobiline, and Talk 'N Text are owned by three DIFFERENT COMPANIES right? The original franchise was sold and became Mobiline, then it was sold again to Smart and then became the Talk 'N Text. That is why they cannot be put together and be of the same color. And Talk 'N Text is a current franchise so it should be in color "tan1". (you can refer to the Wikipedia page of Talk 'N Text and read the history of it......unless what was written there is wrong.) Also, the Air21 franchise was BRIEFLY sold to Burger King for about a year, and then ceased their control back to Air21 again. THEN they sold it finally to Barako Bull, AND AGAIN, those three are OWNED BY THREE DIFFERENT COMPANIES so they cannot be put together and be of the same color. To have a better understanding of the graph that I've made, you can refer to the NBA D-league franchise timeline.Genryusai yamamoto (talk) 10:45, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

You cannot compare the NBA D-League genealogy and make the same changes to the PBA. As explained in this article's genealogies section, there are times that the new owner of the PBA franchise will adopt the history of the previous owner. For example is the Talk 'N Text history. In 1996, PilTel gained control of the Pepsi Hotshots franchise of Luis "Moro" Lorenzo due to a business deal outside of the PBA. At the same time, the new owner, Manny Pangilinan, have Pepsi's team history. Also, Mobiline was rebranded as "Talk 'N Text" in 2001. technically, the PBA team is still owned by one owner and it is a one continuous franchise. In short, MVP adopted the Pepsi history for his Mobiline team in 1996 and renamed his company to Talk 'N Text in 2001.
For the Air21-Burger King-Barako Bull one, it is owned by one person: Bert Lina. FedEx/Air21 is one of his owned companies, then in 2007, he bought shares of the Philippine Burger King franchise. He then renamed his team Burger King so he can promote that brand. And when the original Barako Bull franchise left the PBA in 2011, Lina bought shares of the Barako Bull company outside of the PBA and adopted it as his team's name. If you have followed it, the Air21/Burger King/Barako Bull is still owned by Bert Lina since the franchise's establishment in 2002. -WayKurat (talk) 11:33, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
FYI, I have reverted the original table since this better explains the transfer of team ownership for each franchise. In that template, if a team is owned by a new company and it didn't adopt its previous team history, a new line is been added for that new team. If you can make your table to reflect these changes properly, given the complexity of each team's ownership/transfer, you can do so. -WayKurat (talk) 11:43, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Hello!

I've seen that you have edited what I recently added and removed in Yassi Pressman's wiki page. I was just correcting the statements such as, "She became a VJ for a time in MTV", since she is still a VJ currently, "for a time" meant she was, or she doesn't do it anymore. Also the dates for her films, such as Girlfriend for Hire, posters and cinemas are already putting it up as coming soon. Plus, it will be showing on January 2016. I'm referring to that because you have changed the date back again to 2015. Anyways, thanks for the consideration. Have a nice day! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Keanna pixel (talkcontribs) 09:10, 30 December 2015 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Magoo Marjon

The article Magoo Marjon has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. reddogsix (talk) 20:12, 1 January 2016 (UTC)

Question on cast lists for TV shows

What is the limit for cast members on TV shows? I saw that you cleaned out much on Beautiful Strangers (TV series) with this edit. It's being/been restored, however. I seem to remember a WP mentioning "first billed", but haven't found it again. Perhaps in my dreams... Thanks Jim1138 (talk) 05:56, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

AFAIK, it is only limited to the main and supporting cast. The said user (possibly a sockpuppet of an editor I encountered previously named User:HardcorePunkIsland) keeps on adding a list of guests in that show, and some of them have really not appeared on that show. -WayKurat (talk) 06:01, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
Yeah! Finally found it. WP:TVCAST Not pretty, it does not specify any limits and even implies all should be listed? The cast listing should be organized according to the series original broadcast credits, with new cast members being added to the end of the list. Articles should reflect the entire history of a series, and as such actors remain on the list even after their departure from the series.
WP:FILMCAST Gives limits linking WP:INDISCRIMINATE Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 06:23, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
The above linked MOS also mentions that there are times when a cast list is deemed unecessary and is better outlined in the production section, if there ever is one. Blake Gripling (talk) 21:09, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Template:GlobalPort Batang Pier roster

A tag has been placed on Template:GlobalPort Batang Pier roster requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page's talk page, where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Whpq (talk) 14:51, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

@Whpq:, why did you nominated this template for CSD? Didn't you double check both templates before nominating the GlobalPort template? This template is not an EXACT duplicate of the "PBA roster template", but it only called the PBA roster template to have a header. Please double check the codes inside both templates, they are very different. -WayKurat (talk) 15:28, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
I'm sorry. I screwed up. Please accept my sincere apologies. -- Whpq (talk) 23:25, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

Hoax?

You marked the page DXUN-TV for speedy deletion, claiming that it is "a blatant and obvious hoax." What about this article leads you to believe that it is a hoax? Ethanlu121 (talk) 01:20, 23 March 2016 (UTC)

@Ethanlu121:, the creator of this redirect (User:BRIGADAPLDT11) created a lot of hoax articles yesterday evening and after several warnings and CSDs, he created a bunch of redirects. Just to let you know, he created a hoax DWDZ-TV article, which is according to him, was owned by Unilever Philippines, a Philippine conglomerate that is not into TV broadcasting. He even named the TV station to a shampoo brand. That article was speedy deleted and a few minutes later, he recreated that article again, this time he redirected it to Cebu Catholic Television Network, which by the way does not even own that broadcast callsign. -WayKurat (talk) 01:35, 23 March 2016 (UTC)

Okay. Thanks for the clarification. Ethanlu121 (talk) 01:37, 23 March 2016 (UTC)
