Fair use images on stub templates

I'm sorry, but policy states that images used under a claim of fair use can not be used outside of the article namespace. I have had to revert your changes onto to the TV network stub templates. Character article for Wizards of Waverly Place

Please stop creating these. Individual character articles don't meet requirements of notability as there is no independent coverage in reliable secondary sources for any of these. The original character article were merged to List of Wizards of Waverly Place characters because of the lack of notability. Proposed deletion of Jim Ramsey

The article Jim Ramsey has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article does not meet the notability guideline for biographies.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Minimac (talk) 06:30, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Jim Ramsey

A tag has been placed on Jim Ramsey requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Television infoboxes

Hi. I noticed you're changing the parameter order in television infoboxes in quite a number of articles. Is there a reason you're doing this? The parameters are set up to show in a certain order so moving them around appears to be rather pointless. Additionally, you're also adding "Film" under the "Camera" section of the box. According to Template:Infobox television, that should probably be added under the "picture_format" section. Thanks. Pinkadelica 06:54, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Perhaps you should bring this up on Template talk:Infobox television, because the current wording at Template:Infobox television doesn't appear to support that assertion. Pinkadelica 09:18, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Henrietta

That segment on Noggin, or Nick Jr. with Henrietta painting, I don't understand why she didn't just bend down and dip her paintbrush into the yellow paint that was over the floor. It's not like it got mixed with another color. She could have used the yellow paint even though it was on the floor. Bob.--76.217.108.18 (talk) 17:03, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

You

Optional question: Do you, per chance, work for one of the television stations in Oklahoma City? I deduce this from a combination of your username and your recent edit to tornado warning about Harry Volkman and KFOR. You don't have to answer or reveal personal details...it's just that it might be wise, if you do work for an OKC TV station, to declare a conflict of interest and avoid editing about OKC TV stations. Also note that this isn't intended to snipe you; you make great edits to the tornado bulletin articles. You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 01:29, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

WMAQ Former on air talent list

Hello TVtonighttokc

I was wondering if I could get your opinion in my favor. On the WMAQ former personalites, editors keep deleting all the names posted and I don't feel it is right. You had made some adjustments to the industry jargon on that page and I respected and agreed with your decision. I was wondering if you could write a statement in favor of the 98.223.95.42 edits posted on the village link on the discussion page. The person took a lot of time and effort into the list. We just need a few more in our favor and the edits will be reverted back to the way it should. Or if you just want to revert it back yourself. Ask any other editors you know if they could sign it too. Thanks so much--TVFAN24 (talk) 17:43, 19 June 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by TVFAN24 (talkcontribs)

Hello TVtonightokc,

I just wanted to thank you again for sticking up for me on the WMAQ dispute. You know that list has been that way for a year and hasn't been reverted until now. They even accused me of making names up. I keep track of who comes and goes on stations. Please encourage other users to do as you did and write their response on that page. I feel it should be reverted back to how it was. Those people live in Canada too. They don't even know this station. Maybe you could even revert back to the last edit yourself. Thanks again. Re: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Disney_Channel&diff=prev&oldid=377171530

Actually, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is the real name of the book and the film, only different in the U.S because it was felt American children wouldn't understand what the Philosopher's Stone is so in other words it's a "dumbed down" title. So please do not change the title on any Wikipedia page, if it is on an American article such as Disney then the Sorcerer's Stone title may be added in brackets. Adding unreferenced entries of former employees to lists containing BLP material

Hello Tvtonightokc, Please do not add unreferenced names as entries to lists of former employees in articles, such as you did in WCBD-TV and other articles. Not including this type of material in articles abides by current consensus and is strongly discouraged in our policies and guidelines. The rationales are as follows:

  1. WP:NOT tells us, Wikipedia is "not an indiscriminate collection of information." As that section describes, just because something is true, doesn't necessarily mean the info belongs in Wikipedia.
  2. As per WP:V, we cannot include information in Wikipedia that is not verifiable and sourced.
  3. WP:NLIST tells us that lists included within articles (including people's names) are subject to the same need for references as any other information in the article.
  4. Per WP:BLP, we have to be especially careful about including un-sourced info about living persons.

If you look at articles about companies in general, you will not find mention of previous employees, except in those cases where the employee was particularly notable. Even then, the information is not presented just as a list of names, but is incorporated into the text itself (for example, when a company's article talks about the policies a previous CEO had, or when they mention the discovery/invention of a former engineer/researcher). thanks Deconstructhis (talk) 22:38, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Daryl Hawks

Hey TVtonightokc,

I agree with you that Hawks should be added to the former on air talent list but I removed it b/c Deconstrctthis will freak out and remove it anyway. I think me and you should write a claim to the Wikipedia Administators b/c too many people's names have been removed from stations and entertainment shows. This has really bothered me since this all happened last summer. It's something I really enjoyed to do and tried to be the best I could at making changes as they occured and now I don't even feel like editing anymore b/c of this. Just b/c they don't have a Wiki page, doesn't mean that they shouldn't be included especially in a market like Chicago and I feel the consensus should be modified. Plus, it only seems like Deconstuctthis is the only one to find issue with this any way. Every time I re-added, I got threatened with being blocked permanetly. I don't know who to really write to about this issue. Maybe you can help since it seems that we both feel the same way about this issue. Thanks. TVFAN24 (talk) 22:36, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Please do not add random line ends to templates. If you have a display problem get a working browser. Your screen resolution and size are just that, yours. Don't mess up everyone else's displays. Vegaswikian (talk) 17:21, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

It is the job of any readers browser to format and display the content based on the monitor you are using. Your arbitrary line breaks look horrid on a 16:9 monitor. In addition they don't look right on any display if you have the wrong window size. Your line breaks only work for the font you use, the screen size you use, the resolution you have selected and the size of the window you are using. Hence your choice of line breaks is arbitrary. Hi there, thanks for your work on US year-in-TV articles. These are a valuable contribution. I've just gone through applying a few scripts to the past few years; in particular, there's a single-click dash converter (from hyphens in year and other ranges) that you'd find very handy, and that brings an article into compliance with the Manual of Style and most external guidelines (including the US Chicago MoS). This is your last warning, stop adding unverified, unencyclopedic, and unsourced content to television station pages. Next time you do, it will be reverted, and you will be taken to AIV for vandalism...as you are teetering on the edge of that right now. AMC (TV channel)

Please don't slice off a section of AMC (TV channel) to make a new article. It's completely redundant. Also you damaged references at AMC (TV channel) with your edits so I reverted your changes. Barsoomian (talk) 17:43, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

And please don't make radical changes to that article without discussion on the Talk page. Barsoomian (talk) 17:58, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Re:ABC Spark

Yes, ABC Spark was originally set to launch on the 26th, however, the channel, as it was reported on other forums, actually fully launched on the 23rd on some carriers like EastLink. So, therefore, the launch date of the channel was actually the 23rd.musimax. (talk) 16:39, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

WJBK edits

You have made some recent edits to the WJBK article which could be arguably unnecessary and without any explination in the edit summery or on the talk page. What is your explination for not leaving these summeries? Based on the other comments left on your talk page this appears to be a recurring issue with the majority of your edits.173.123.174.100 (talk) 04:06, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

The Arsenio Hall Show

Is it really necessary to list ALL of the stations that will/are scheduled to carry the new program next fall? This kind of information is not encyclopedic and is fancrufty. It belongs on a site devoted to television news, and this is not it. Please do not restore this stuff again. DreamMcQueen (talk) 00:33, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

Re: July 2012

I'm gonna write the same thing to you that I did to another user: the quality of your edits are, in my opinion, poor and contribute very little. This is nothing personal against you. However, you go from insisting on listing every station that is scheduled to carry the new Arsenio Hall Show next year to taking a page from the Neutralhomer/Strafidlo template with wordy and overly technical introductory paragraphs on those Chicago television station articles. Before you label someone as a "vandal" and "disruptive" and issue threatening stop warnings (as you did me, which I promptly deleted from my talk page), perhaps you should get pointers on how to make more constructive contributions and not mimic someone else, whether it be a industry website or another editor. DreamMcQueen (talk) 03:05, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Gray CBS Affiliates

Good catch on the Gray CBS affiliates, specifically WSVF-CA. I thought it was going to be a FOX station by it's call sign (Shenandoah Valley Fox), but I was wrong on that one. :) Nicely done. :) - NeutralhomerTalk19:07, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Still a good catch. That's the area that I watch and normally I catch things before others, so when I get beat, I'm impressed. :) - NeutralhomerTalk19:57, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Doppler radar

Hi,

I see that you are working on TV stations. When you add a link to their radar, please dont use the generic missnomer Doppler radar current in tvland (Doppler radar is a class of radars using the Doppler effect, ranging from police radar gun to military radars). In the context of tv stations, the "Doppler radars" are really weather radars with Doppler capabilities even if most often it is the precipitation intensity that is shown and not the velocities of the rain droplets. So please make the link to "Doppler weather radar" or "Weather radar" that explain all there is to know about it.

Chicago TV articles

I'm not interested in conflict, I'm interested in overall better articles. Having said that, I have restored the introductions I wrote for these articles which you have repeatedly reverted back to. There does not need to be that much information -- much of it unnecessary and trivial -- in article leads. Can you honestly tell me that those Stradflo/Neutralhomer intros are better structured and written? This is one of the points I'm trying to raise among the community here. I would much appreciate if you consider that before you attempt to revert. DreamMcQueen (talk) 19:01, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:USA Today-2012.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:USA Today-2012.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:27, 16 September 2012 (UTC)

C-SPAN copy-edits

Hi Tvtonightokc. I have the C-SPAN article on my watchlist and noticed you made a series of edits over the weekend. I'm actually a consultant to C-SPAN, and I've been actively working on updating and improving this page for the last few months—though my suggestions have been implemented by non-COI editors, which is why you won't see my username in the revision history. My ultimate goal here is for the article to attain Featured article status, and in fact I had been planning to submit it this week.

To that end, I have a couple of comments, and wonder if you could help me better understand your edits. From looking through the diffs it appears that you made and then un-made many changes. I've compared the current article with the version before your edits and see that they are nearly identical. However, there are a few problems:

  • The period at the end of the very first sentence is now missing
  • There is an error in the reference for the source titled "Lamb opened government with C-SPAN"
  • C-band info is missing from the infobox
  • Availability online section is missing the sentence about the C-SPAN library containing 200,000 hours of video

These are just the ones I found; I am worried there are other improvements that were undone as part of your good faith edits that were not reverted back.

Given the amount of time and effort that myself and these other editors have put towards fixing up this article in preparation for submitting it for FA, I'm wondering if you would be agreeable to reverting the article back to the version prior to your edits? Then if there are any specific individual improvements you would like to make, please go ahead and make them. I think if they are made individually it will be easier for everyone to see your contributions and to see that the recently agreed-upon changes have not been lost. Also to know: there has been one edit since yours, however I'm afraid that editor introduced an error, so I'm going to mention to him that I've reached out to you.

Does this sound OK to you? Cheers, WWB Too (Talk · COI) 19:33, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

The total differences between the edits can be more easily observed here. ComfyKem (talk) 21:17, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for pointing that out, CK, I should have thought of the cur diff. Now that I've looked again, here I see a few more problems following the recent changes:
  • I had updated the last paragraph of the Public affairs section to remove the vague "the content is the emphasis" language and to correct the double use of the same reference, but this revision has been lost
  • I had switched all the dates in the reference templates, and in the body of the article, to the American style for consistency, but it now appears that some dates formats are back to international style
  • The last paragraph of the Special programming section had been updated so that the second sentence begins with "35" written out, as is appropriate for the start of a sentence, now this update has been lost
Tvtonightokc may be able to explain, but it looks like old versions of the article—from the version in mid-July, I think—may have been incorporated into the current version of the article. Whether it's best to fix these issues individually or start over from the version prior to August 11, I'm open-minded, though I do think a restart would be easiest. Cheers, WWB Too (Talk · COI) 22:21, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
And now CK has rolled it back to the August 9 version. Tv, I think you did make plenty of reasonable changes—choosing to wikilink "English" and un-wikilink the second occurrence of "United States" for example—but it was complicated by whatever happened to remove previous improvements with the article. The last thing I want to be is WP:OWN-y about it, so please feel free to edit again. Best, WWB Too (Talk · COI) 17:55, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

Confusing edit

Hi there, I just went through the TGIF (ABC) article and fixed a number of wikilinks, but when I checked the article history I seen this edit[4] you made on August 25. Your edit cleandup a lot of the article but it also copied and pasted the entire American Broadcasting Company logos article to the bottom of the TGIF (ABC) article. Was this done for a reason or was it just a mistake, because I'm really confused trying to figure this out. The logos article is still there as its own article, but as a result of the change, another editor has now added a logo category to the TGIF article. Cmr08 (talk) 07:51, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi again, thanks for getting back to me. I didn't think it was anything intentional, I just figured it was an error you missed before saving. Multichannel video programming distributor

I appreciate your help, and I can't believe my wording didn't look any better than that, now that I see it compared to yours. Do you have access to my sources? Because I am hoping you didn't change the meaning of anything, or reword what I did in a way that is closer to the original. If my phrasing looked awkward it was generally an effort to avoid plagiarism.

I keep hoping to find more information, as well as proof the "big dishes" actually belong in the article.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:30, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

And I'm really having difficulty finding information on the early days of cable TV.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:31, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

Okay, well, my grammar never looks awkward when I'm doing it. It sure does now. After rewording it and rewording it, I have a tendency to think it's right. I need all the help I can get.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:46, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
I thought about double-checking the sources, but it's just too much work. Just based on my memory, I'm sure everything is the way it is supposed to be. Your rearranging of some of the information tells me you don't object to big dishes being part of the article. I'm not sure they are MVPDs and I recall using the word "subscribed" even though all they do is take signals from the air for free and, if necessary, get an unscrambler. TVRO was in the original article before I got there so that may work. But any full history of "satellite TV" (in the U.S., anyway) should include everything I said, and right now this is the only one. It's not done yet. I still have lots of work to do on the pizza dishes. And the statement that in 1992 most people had cable--that was always in its own paragraph since I have to find out exactly what that means. I think it means when someone became a government big shot, cable was almost all there was. This will be expanded.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 20:28, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
I started work on this article because I had used it as a place for miscellaneous topics that didn't relate specifically to "cable". The article was criticized for this and it needed more details about the types of MVPDs. I didn't know there was a history of cable TV in the U.S. on Wikipedia because when I looked up "cable television" there wasn't much. Now I see that there is, so it makes me wonder what needs to be added. The main thing would be comparisons between the types and why a person would choose one over the other. The articles about each type should probably cover the specifics in detail.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 16:00, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
I finally concluded big dishes are not MVPDs and moved some of the content to Television receive-only. I am of course required to attribute you in that situation.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 20:48, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Stop adding "The station's digital channel is multiplexed:" to every single TV page. We know when they carry more than one subchannel by looking at the table, thus that line is not needed. Your recent editing history at WZTV shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Aoidh (talk) 19:49, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

Per WP:BRD, please see Talk:WZTV#WP:NOTDIR and get a consensus for your edit before reinserting it into the article, as the content doesn't belong per Wikipedia policy. - Aoidh (talk) 19:53, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

Help expanding First Ladies: Influence & Image article?

Hello Tvtonightokc. I see that you frequently contribute to articles relating to television and I am wondering if you could help me out with one I'm working to expand for C-SPAN's First Ladies: Influence & Image series. I'm Jeremy Art, as Digital & Social Media Specialist at C-SPAN I do not make any edits directly to articles related to the network because of my conflict of interest. I did upload to my user space a proposal to expand the First Ladies series' current article. You can see my original request at the First Ladies series' Talk page. With your knowledge of editing TV-related articles, would you be willing to take a look at my draft? Or do you know of any other volunteer editors who might be interested in taking a look at it?

Thanks!

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:WPIX 11 News.png

Thank you for uploading File:WPIX 11 News.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:01, 25 April 2016 (UTC)

File:St. Joseph CW 6.png needs authorship information

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:St. Joseph CW 6.png appears to be missing information as to one (or more) of the following :

  1. The author or creators of the work, (including information as to the author's lifespan).
  2. Where and how this particular version was obtained.
  3. When the work was created,

If you did provide such information, it is currently confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|Tvtonightokc/Archives/2018/March}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.

Please also add authorship and sourcing to other files you created or uplopaded. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. Marchjuly (talk) 07:23, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
