Draft: TIGSource

edit

FYI that I noticed there's a duplicate draft of the TIGSource article, and I nominated it for deletion, but if I'm reading the alerts correctly, it's possible that only articles can be nominated for speedy deletion this way. Instead, can you go to the draft and ask that it be deleted by adding the code {{Db-author}}? And I'm voting weak keep for the article, after linking to it from other articles that mention TIGSource. Discretionary sanctions notification

edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in gender-related disputes or controversies or in people associated with them. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Northway Games, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Rebuild. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Speedy deletion nomination of Eli Piilonen

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Eli Piilonen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. July 2021

You must stop editing while logged out. Your IP edits to the same pages as your logged-in edits are a violation of WP:SOCK. If you persist, your named account and your IPs risk being blocked.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:17, 19 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

This message from a Wikipedia moderator seems to me like a textbook example of how to NOT approach newer editors and the reason why Wikipedia is essentially written by the same group of grumpy men who enjoy these kind of conflicts that constantly and unnecessarily arise here. I have, since creating this account, accidentally made some minor edits while logged out - something I believe could have happen to even experienced editors. If there was a way of "claiming" those edits that was apparent to me I would have, but alas, there doesn't seem to be one once the damage is done. However, nothing whatsoever about those edits suggest "sockpuppetry" or any attempt at anything deceitful, unless you assume I'm a total idiot, which I'm sure might seem like a reasonable assumption based on your day-to-day job as a moderator, but obviously violates WP:AGF and is just a nasty way of approaching people. The policy WP:SOCK states: "Sockpuppetry takes various forms: Logging out to make problematic edits as an IP address." My edits were not in any way "problematic" but obviously constructive, so your accusation is just wrong. The "anonymous" edits were in reality the exact opposite of anonymous, as it's obvious they were made by me and reveal my IP to any user wanting to look into for example where I currently am.
I understand being constantly reviewed and criticized as a moderator, which I understand is an unpaid position, sucks, but I don't believe anybody is forcing you to do this at gunpoint. I think you should seriously reflect on what you did here and what kind of effect this type of moderation has on the whole Wikipedia project. I seriously considered just not logging in again because of your extremely unfriendly and unnecessarily threatening message. Thisisarealusername (talk) 23:46, 20 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
By the way, if you edit while accidentally logged out, you can contact the Oversight team to have the IP suppressed (so the addresses are hidden from public view, and from administrators). I hope this helps. Sdrqaz (talk) 01:17, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm TheBirdsShedTears. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 03:24, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

What you state above is not true - none of my recent contributions have been undone, so I don't know what you're talking about. If any of my edits appeared promotional to you, I must inform you that's you misreading the article/edit based on your limited understanding of the subject.Thisisarealusername (talk) 03:41, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for any confusion and mistake. However, I draftified the two articles related to game developers. This was the reason why I notified you. Also, introducing promotional wording such as "best and foremost" makes no sense. Thank you and happy editing. TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 16:08, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
TheBirdShedTears, please don't post warnings on other user's pages willy-nilly in the future. It's very unfriendly and this is clearly a case of you misunderstanding what I wrote. The words I used were "best known for..." and "first and foremost". That's talking about what somebody is most known for, it's not a superlative used to describe anything they've done.Thisisarealusername (talk) 17:09, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Jordan Magnuson

Hello, Thisisarealusername

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Jordan Magnuson for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons. For more details please see the notice on the article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Florian Himsl moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Florian Himsl, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hi, I disagree with your assessment that this article and Florian Himsl are not "suitable as written to remain published." I can't quite figure out if there's a procedure to move them back that doesn't include submitting it for review (which I don't think is necessary therefore a waste of time) - can I just move them back? Or could you perhaps link me to info about the procedure? Thanks. Could you also refrain from moving more articles I've created into draftspace? I'm continuously improving them. Thisisarealusername (talk) 03:28, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
@TheBirdsShedTears:From Wikipedia:Drafts:
"The community has also allowed for new articles to be moved to draft space as an alternative to deletion. Below are a set of best practices to follow when draftifying an article in these circumstances. As part of the review of new pages, an unreviewed page may be moved to draft if:
the topic has some potential merit, and
the article does not meet the required standard, and
there is no evidence of active improvement.
or when the author clearly has a conflict of interest (per WP:COIEDIT)."
(my emphasis). So I believe you made a mistake in moving these pages. Can you please move them back? Thisisarealusername (talk) 03:31, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
The draftspace policy also states that you should move back pages into article space if the original creator of the article disagrees with the move. Please don't move ANY pages into draftspace again if you can't follow this policy, you wasted more than 30 minutes of my time having to restore the pages because you apparently couldn't be bothered. @WhoAteMyButter:Thank you. Could I maybe request your help in moving the above two articles (Draft:Florian Himsl and Draft:Tyler Glaiel back into the main namespace also? I made edits to them 3 and 7 minutes before they were moved to draftspace, clearly out of process, but there's unfortunately no formal way of requesting the undoing of such a move.Thisisarealusername (talk) 04:10, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
I would ask the mover. I don't know about those articles, and I'm not in a position to muddle around in someone else's move; ask them to do it instead. WhoAteMyButter (📨talk📝contribs) 04:13, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
I think your ping of TheBirdsShedTears didn't work because you added it after: you need to start a new line with the ping and sign it too. Help:Fixing failed pings may help. A surefire way of doing it is linking their userpage in your edit summary. If you don't have a COI, you can move the page back into the mainspace, as draftification is not a backdoor route to deletion. Sdrqaz (talk) 15:37, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Midjourney Prompt

edit

Hi Thisisarealusername, I can't find the exact prompt I used for the art nouveau image. However, I found the exact prompt for another image I uploaded, which I've added to the description here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:AI-generated_fan_poster_for_Station_Eleven.png

The prompt is, "station eleven movie poster, apocalypse, science fiction, adopted parent, graphic novel". I hope this is helpful.

Sorry I couldn't find the prompt for the other image, but I've generated *so* many images with similar prompts. I couldn't find that exact image on MJ to verify which particular version I used. Esmerome (talk) 14:31, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
