RE: Your edits to Gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid

edit

I do not want to sound rude but your recent edits are not consistent with a lot of our policies here. First of all, even though there is trivia on the page already (i.e. "Popular culture" section) trivia is frowned up here, especially when it does not add anything to the article itself (see WP:Trivia for more info). Secondly, please do not use two separate accounts to try and put information into articles. Your first edit was under the IP address 69.***.***.** and then your second edit (which was the exact same as your first) was under this account. This is considered sockpuppetry and can lead to blocks or being banned. Lastly, any information added needs to be verifiable, which means you need to add a proper source to back up your statements. I am going to revert your change based on the prior reasons. I encourage you to keep on editing, but please do not revert back to your edit, as this will put you very close to the three revert rule which states that any editor can be blocked if they make more than 3 reverts on the same page within a 24 hours period. I also encourage you to click on and read the links I have provided you, and feel free to ask me any questions you have. Good luck editing!

Well first I am going to address some basic stuff that will help you ion the future. Whenever you want to add a new topic to someones talk page, either click on the "+" at the top of the page, and then fill in the header, or you can just add == (your header) == after clicking "edit this page," and then type your what you want under the header. This creates the header that you see, which helps to keep convos organized, and after the 3rd or 4th header, your page will automatically have a table of contents, which helps for organization. Secondly, and most importantly, whenever you add info to a talk page, always sign under your statement by either typing ~~~~ or by clicking the little signature button in the edit toolbar, this generates your signature and a timestamp which links to your user page. Now to address your concerns about the info into the article. The main thing here on Wikipedia is that we cannot have original research which means that information cannot be added unless there is a respectable source to back it up, such as a website, news article, etc. Just because someone read it somewhere or saw it on TV, doesn't mean it can or should be added to this encyclopedia. Also Wikipedia is trying to clean up its trivia sections, because for the most part this type of information is not notable enough and it tends to be random. These trivia sections also tend to be just lists of random information, which Wikipedia is not. I would recommend that you just let it go, as more than likely, in some time (hopefully sooner than later) all this trivia information will be removed or added into the articles. I hope you keep on editing though and try to make sure that you stay away from trivia, and to always source your edits. Thanks!

Style guidelines

edit

You can't make an edit to the style guideline and use the new revision to justify your interests. A guideline is shaped by consensus, not unilateral editing. If you want to discuss user ratings, bring it up on the guideline's talk page. However, the discussion about user ratings was not too long ago, and I doubt that minds will be changed so quickly, especially considering the logic of why they are excluded. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 04:18, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Point to Ponder

edit

If you are going to be correcting "grammar," at least try to spell "grammar" correctly. Hint: it's not "grammer."Ryoung122 09:15, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Helbreath‎

edit

Hi TheJoak, I'm glad to see that you'll be working on the Helbreath article. I recommend you examine the general notability guideline and the verifiability policy if you haven't already. If there are plenty of reliable sources, that's great (personally I couldn't find any). If there are references but no significant coverage, or only one item of significant coverage, it would be better write a shorter section about the game at Siementech. Let me know if you need any assistance. Thanks, Marasmusine (talk) 17:30, 12 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
