Skate Punk

edit

Please stop editing the skate punk section. I am a skate punk and I've lived all over the US and in Europe and 99% of all skate punks I have met: hate Tony Hawk and deeply deeply do not admire him,Do not have a very long wallet chain or even a chain,Do not wear baggy pants for it is impossible to skate in them or wear shorts because that hurts when you fall. And every single skate punk that I have met that is not a poser do not wear airwalks or vans. Those are horrible skate shoes and you will never catch any real skate punk wearing a pair.(in certain cases some pairs of vans but never airwalks). And I have met one punk skater with dreadlocks in my life. That is extremely uncommon and so it does not help if you put that in wikipedia. I'd appreciate it if you would leave it how it is now. Thanks =) Day22 23:07, 2 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Punk shops! Roll up! Buy rebellion here! Yeah, I love that song. Whole album, in fact, is a classic. I haven't listened to it in ages though, lost my CD a long while ago and haven't found it yet. I had a lot of trouble with the Soundtrack of Wikipedians in fact, because it's kind of hard to gauge whether I like "A Piss in the Ocean" or "Only a Pawn in Their Game" or "Rebel Without A Pause" or "So Much Trouble in the World" the most, because they're all so different. I still need to work on that list a fair bit.
By the way, the link to the lyrics site you posted, at the bottom of the page there's (for me anyway) an ad for the "United Church of God Australia", a fundamentalist Christian group. Slightly out of their key demographic, you think? -Switch t 10:34, 8 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

indiv anarchism

edit

Look at footnote #7 in the anarcho-capitalism article. Anarcho-capitalists are called individualist anarchists by themselves and others. There are anarcho-capitalists who don't refer to themselves as anarcho-capitalists at all, but simply "individualist anarchists," such as Wendy McElroy. It's true that there are other kinds of individualist anarchists, but anarcho-capitalism is often known simply as "individualist anarchism" and often "free-market anarchism" instead of "anarcho-capitalism."

Yes, Your honor, that's exactly the point. It is already in the article that some people use individualist anarchism and anarcho-capitalism interchangeably. Mentioning it as a synonym in the first sentence implies that they are one and the same, which is untrue; they are closely related and overlapping but different ideologies. It is also unnecessary to include more than one example of other terms used in the introductory sentence, and using one specific one that is also used to describe a different political philosophy is misleading to the reader. It is already stated in the article, in the appropriate section and with explanation, that individualist anarchism can be used to simply mean anarcho-capitalism; there is no need whatsoever to insert it, without explanation, in the lead, as if the two terms were simple synonyms like anarcho-capitalism and free-market anarchism are.
"Individualist anarchism" is such a common alternate name for anarcho-capitalism that it should be stated there in the first sentence. It doesn't matter that "individualist anarchism" can also refer to something else.

Never forget

edit

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Never forget, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Lol, I see you're harrassing all the anarchists, eh? Just kidding. But yeah, the CIA gave funding, training, and logistical support to Pinochet and the other people involved in the coup, in the name of US corporate interests of course. We also rigged the election so Allende wouldn't get elected, but obviously it didn't work very well. Bush had better luck with that one in Florida. More info here. Allende was a Stalinist Communist, not a "socialist". As an anarchist I would hope you don't support Fidel Castro's fiefdom in Cuba, so why would you apparently try to whitewash Allende's totalitarian Marxist-Leninist intentions? More info here: http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=26000 yes it's a "right-wing" site, read the article anyway. Also, if you're anti-capitalist, why do you read comic books like X-Men and watch Futurama, both of which wouldn't exist without capitalism? Seems rather hypocritical.

I think it should be obvious everything from that site should be taken with a grain of salt - as for Allende, he wasn't the greatest of posibilities, but he was better than the tyrants in the Soviet Union without a doubt. Much more libertarian and egalitarian. He wasn't like Lenin, who intentionally starved people, or Stalin, who... well, I gues you probably know all about Stalin.
As for my supposed hipocrisy... no it isn't, not in the slightest. Crass probably wouldn't have been making music without capitalism either, and if they still had I might never have heard of them. You could say that without capitalism, we wouldn't have any of what we now have. It's just damn well impossible to know. But even so, who cares? Should I stop using the internet because it's a capitalist pursuit? Should I not eat food produced for capitalist interests, or read books published by corporations? This is especially absurd when we're talking about the X-Men (who are icons for queer rights) or Futurama (made by democratic socialists, and even makes fun of free-market capitalists). Everything is produced for capitalist interests. That doesn't mean I can't like anything. Heaps of anarchists like Fight Club.

Thanks...

Well, I've already answered this one, so I'm lifting the answer from last time I posted it:
It's actually a tough issue for me; I do agree with gun control, but not when mandated by the state for its own interests, and especially not when its enforcers like cops get to carry assault rifles. edit

Umm.. please tell me what scientist is going to write essays on the emo sub-culture? More importantly, please tell me which of them is going to go to shows and note the latest fashion trends to go back into his journal and write about it?

You cannot source contemporary trends, unless I am missing something? Wikipedia is run by users, and I am part of the emo scene. I go to shows and I listen to the music and I know these trends because I see them as do others.

I am inclined to think you are an anti-pop emo-elitist because of your refusal to acknowledge the influence of emo music on more contemporary rock bands currently such as Fallout Boy or My Chemical Romance. Both of them get their styles from the emo music sub-genre and they sound curiously identical to emo music of the past and the present.

Please do not be a vigilante in the emo slang page and allow for change. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Noalia (talkcontribs) 00:13, 1 March 2007 (UTC).Reply

List of Anarchists

edit

Greetings, SwitChar. As of a few minutes ago I only just learned of the proposition, debate, subsequent deletion of the Anarchists list, and thought to commend your arguments in its favor, and your creation of a sandbox version. In my opinion, your version is superior in various ways, not the least of which being by far more coherent and organized, and hope that you will eventually be able to use it to recreate the list.

I would also like to add a few to this to help you, but being your project, I hesitate to do so without your permission. I shall simply explain my additions and allow you to consider them. Note that all of them have self identified as anarchists to the best of my knowledge, as I would not wish to repeat the same mistakes which killed the previous list. The first would be John Cage, an avant guard composer (I sadly cannot recall my source, and so I would not add him immediately, but he is known to have written a book comprised of poety inspired by Anarchism, as well as to have composed music intended to be "non-heriarchial" in the sense that there were no dominent instruments/performers;) Grant Morrison, an author who wrote The Invisibles which explored anarchist themes and featured multiple anarchist characters; and Bob Black, an author and lawyer, (I noticed that your list lacked anyone in the "politics and law" section, and while he might be best placed in the authors section, I thought to suggest him. He is also a highly controversial figure, but I do not doubt he is a self-identified anarchist;) and lastly, Shusui Kotoku, Sakae Osugi, and Noe Ito, all three important japanese authors and publishers.

I hope your project continues steadily, that these additions will help along this long process, and that you will eventually be able to restore this list. Until then, you have my thanks for your efforts. --Cast 07:31, 27 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am also of the mind that a recreated list, should it be a large improvement over a deleted original, should be preserved. I feel that your list qualifies for this in several respects. Once this project has neared completion, I suggest contacting other editors who would be interested in preserving it and asking them to argue in its favor should problems arise.
I am also glad that you are not possessive of the article, but I would still defer to your opinion, as you clearly have an idea of what direction you wish to take the process in, and I respect that. I will however continue to make sourced suggestions in the future and hope it will prove fruitful. Unfortunately, I cannot help you with your first request, as I am utterly unfamiliar with most film makers, but should I hear of one which matches your description, I'll alert you immediately. I'll also take note of your recovered list and make use of it in my future suggestions. For ease of use, I would advise striking out any from that list once they have been sourced and added to the sandboxed version. This will become increasingly important as the project progresses.
I can see your point regarding musicians, and would suggest a compromise: the include a subsection listed as Musicians, which would provide a link redirecting the reader to the main article, the list of anarchist musicians. This will make searching for such people more user friendly. I would also suggest the inclusion of a Military subsection, for anarchists who are well known for their work during militant anarchist uprisings, such as Nestor Makhno, Buenaventura Durruti, Francisco Sabaté Llopart, and Kim Jwa-jin
At any rate, I'll make an effort to aid you in the future as best I can, though this cannot be my top priority (I am currently making an effort to improve Osugi's article,) and will certainly encourage the preservation of this list once it is properly uploaded.
And finally, thank you for noting my efforts on the Anarky article. What can I say? Anything for a fictional comrade! --Cast 18:03, 27 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
(PS - I only just noticed that your list does include a link to the list of anarchist musicians, and so I retract my suggestion that it be included. --Cast 18:31, 27 March 2007 (UTC))Reply
Hey, the list is looking good, feel free to ask for help with it! Murderbike 06:37, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey, SwitChar. I'm sure you've noticed that I've been editing the List of Anarchists. I was just doing a little more editing to it today when I thought to suggest a new section for Former Anarchists, as there are two of people in the list of self-identified anarchists who later declared themselves to have retired, given up, or moved on from the anarchic cause. These include Kanson Arahata and Murray Bookchin. At the moment they are the only ones on the list I know to have stopped being anarchists, but it could come up more as the list grows in the future.--Cast 00:50, 13 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

RE: Futurama and citing commentaries

edit

Hey SwitChar, I saw your recent note at Talk:Futurama and thought I'd see if you were aware of my current project at WikiProject Futurama (see [Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Futurama#Episode article organization-revisited|here]]). As I only own season four I could use some help getting production information from the various episode commentaries, I can do it myself someday but not before the articles come up for review next weekend. If you're going to watch the episodes anyway please keep the episode pages in mind as well and consider stopping by the review page when it comes up. Thanks for your time! Orphaned non-free media (Image:Complete Discography Minor Threat.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Complete Discography Minor Threat.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Green Arrow anarchist

edit

I could not help but notice how you put Green Arrow back into the fictional anarchists category. I'm not saying that Green Arrow is not an anarchist, but I don't see anything in the article that says that he is an anarchist. You've made a very nice justification for him being an anarchist in your edit summary and you even supplied a source, but I think you should be aware that edit summaries do not count. No one will read your edit summary after a few weeks or even a few days the next time GA is taken out of the the fictional anarchists category. The only thing your edit summary prevents is an immediate revert. Unless you are prepared to back up your claim that he is an anarchist with a real article edit including your source, there isn't much point in trying to put the GA article in that category because it won't stick there. -- Lilwik 09:12, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've made the appropriate edit. I hope this will settle the matter. I suggest that at some point in the future, the Publication history section should include a subsection which directly addressed the political interpretations of Green Arrow. In this section, it can be explained for readers that the character was originally apolitical, then became a radical leftist (being described by O'Neil as an anarchist, though I still question if he has used the term incorrectly,) and that the character has steadily become more mainstream and has been portrayed as a mayor. A reference to the guest appearance of Anarky can be made for further effect. Perhaps this documentary can be of some use: Comic Book Superheroes Unmasked. Take special note of minute 3:18 of the clip. We get a small reference to "anarchists", though it is a term used pejoratively.--Cast 04:13, 3 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Anarky

edit

Greetings SwitChar. I hope this message finds you well. I would like to ask you for your opinion, and a favor as well. I ask you because you've shown an interest in Anarky in the past, and most of the Wikiproject: Comic administrators who oversaw the GA nomination for the character are not currently involved in wikipedia related activity. I admit, I know of no one else to turn to.

A few weeks ago I finally decided to add Anarky, the only fictional anarchist in a mainstream comic corporation, into the Anarchism Task Force jurisdiction. I figured it was acceptable, being a fictional anarchist listed in the respective list, and as the trade paperback, Batman: Anarky, is categorized as anarchist fiction. Today, I also finally decided to add the anarchism template to the subsection on political and philosophical themes. I had previously been against it, since Anarky isn't directly connected to any of the sub topics of the navigation bar, and only barely connected to the Lists section. Well, after a few hours, I thought better of it and removed it. It's been only a few minutes, but now I'm questioning the move again. What is your opinion? You may check the recent history of the article to view it as it appeared.

On the matter of the favor I would ask: as I mentioned, most of the administrators who over saw the GA nomination process of the article are currently MIA, and I have been waiting for nearly a year to get a Peer Review, so I can complete the process of nominating it for FA status. As you are familiar with the character's publication history and the philosophy he originally represented, I would like to ask you to examine it and provide me with a peer review. I would think multiple reviews would be preferable, but after a year I'll take any small number I can get. I'll make further requests amongst the comic task forces, but as I mentioned, I felt you would be well suited to this given your knowledge of the subject. If you can assist me in these matters, I would appreciate it and do invite you to take your time. Although I am weary of waiting longer for a peer review, I remain ever patient.--Cast (talk) 10:41, 6 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Part 1: Tip of the beret.

Impressive, very interesting page. And thanks for posting the vandal activity; that gave me a nice chuckle.

I have an theory about that puzzling message in the second log. (LISTEN TO HOUSE YOUR FAGGOT) I think your friend was a bit lazy and omitted his punctuation. Based on your profile, he figured you could unravel his brief note without it.

Filling in the gaps with my best guess: The user took extreme umbrage at your musical tastes, and that provoked him to vandalism. Yet, at the same time, this gay man is intrigued by you, and confesses that he has a bit of a crush. So he might have written it:

Political Dweeb's question

edit

This is User: Political dweeb here and I'm responsible I think for creating this article on Communism and religion. The reason I created this article was to ask a question. It was that do any of the political parties, movements, organisations etc that believe in the communist ideologies called Leninism, Trotskyism, left communism, Marxism-Leninism and council communism believe in either of the two political positions on atheism?

These two political positions I am talking about are either making sure that religion is apart from the state and society or that it is necessary for the world to exist without all of its religions.

I hope what I have said is suitable and apart from the questions I've asked above if there's any other questions anyone wants to ask me on this subject please talk to me on this discussion page or on my talk page thank you. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.

That band has helped me, and probably so many other people in so many ways, they've had a fucking shit life, and all you care about is the fact they're music isn't to you're liking, screw how everyone else feels, and how everyone else is affected by they're music.
