Assessment?

edit

Out of curiosity, why did you assess Idaho State Highway 41 as Start instead of B? I think I already know the answer, and agree with you to some extent, but it does have each of the big three sections – so I would think it really ought to be a B. -- Kéiryn talk 20:07, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

That's precisely what I meant when I said I thought I knew the answer. The only thing I disagree with is when you say its only tangentially related to ID-41 – it's meant to be an article on both ID-41 and WA-41, so any history of WA-41 definitely belongs there. That being said, it's really just a tidbit I salvaged from the old Washington article, and I really don't know $h*t about the history of Idaho highways – so if you want it to be a start, then I totally trust your judgement.   -- Kéiryn talk 20:39, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, the reason I was creating it was to get rid of a stubby article on a Washington highway that doesn't even really exist. I don't know whether or not the southbound side of the street is signed with Washington or Idaho shields, but there is no northbound WA-41... :-P -- Kéiryn talk 20:48, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I saw you had protected One Bid, that's probably the best move. I noticed you protected the interstate pages around St. Louis. I was wondering if you would be interested in joining a working group I'm putting together for transportation in St. Louis. Here's the short page we have so far. Wikipedia:WikiProject St. Louis/Transportation I'm currently recategorizing everything and moving pages off of the Transportation in St. Louis category into more specific categories under Transportation in St. Louis, Missouri and Transportation in St. Louis County, Missouri and then grouping all of these under Transportation in Greater St. Louis. This is kind of a big process that's going to take some time. I would welcome any input that you would have though. DaronDierkes (talk) 02:23, 5 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image:Interstate 635 (Texas).svg

edit

Do you mean keep this image. Because this image vs   is not exactly the same. The white text is fatter in metric version; and skinnier in older version. I don't for truth mind if we do not delete this, just have to be remove from interstate-shield gallery and categorize somewhere else. --Freewayguy (talk) 02:29, 10 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

    • Do you want to delete it or keep it? Your vote didn't say clearly if you still want the image or not. This and metric is not exactly the same, if we keep its better not to match up with image shield category; maybe better to keep under i-635 stuffs only if works out. I think they have over 280 files, epople likes to upload more anyways, only because they thought the image looks neat, and trying to be creative.--Freewayguy (talk) 02:53, 10 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
    • Okay; I say this image probably don't need to be delete it. The MUTCD of interstate-state-name-specific changes from time to time. First normally comes from  ; then the second modification is   the intermediate version; and lastly after 2000 is  . None of those 3 image is exactly the same copies; so won't "kill" not to delete it.--Freewayguy (talk) 03:12, 10 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image:635-galleria.jpg

edit

I think image should be move to Commons. Commons is better place for images maybe Image:Interstate 635 (Texas).svg can be move there, if we don't delete it. Things change over time; I think once Texas have white text tighter; is the very old version, then later they make the white text larger in size, and the last change in 2000 I think is making the white text number bolder; and float up to the state name.--Freewayguy (talk) 02:41, 10 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think it was an excellent idea the separation you did on the High-occupancy toll, long lists should always go to an Annex or List. Can you drop by Electronic toll collection, I think is now becoming a list instead of an article. Mariordo (talk) 16:42, 11 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

USRD participants list

edit

As discussed at WT:USRD, the participants list at WP:USRD is being split by state. Due to any of the following factors- your extended participation in WT:USRD discussions, your IRC participation, or your extended participation in Shields or Maps, I have guessed that you are a nationwide editor and have designated you as such in the USRD partiicpants table. This is part of the lengthy process. If this is in error, please let me know immediately. This is especially likely with this group as I have to guess whether you are a national or a state editor. Kansas

edit

Is KS a mix shield state or mostly state-shield (On Interstate-Gude should it be pink state or blue state). The state-name specific is add in infobox a while ago, but some shields lack state name. In sunflower state, the state have no state document. or I think we should use state-name specific in routebox until we get specs with neutral shields.--Freewayguy TL C 20:33, 19 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

State/neutral shields

edit

Anyways when you said earlier, some shields don't even post when is maufacture. The i-5/ Orange County Route S18 the I-5 neutral shields is post at november 2007, but when the sheilds post doesn't mean when is manufact. In California some i-5 shields is lacking state name too. I went through Downtown Burbank on 4/26/2008 on i-5 leaving off after SR 118, I saw one i-5 sheild lacking state name. In California, most contraction errors take place on I-5, as well as Central Valley. In Oklahoma does I-235 also have contraction error, and how old the sheilds is. New Mexico the DOT I think is worse, and Northeastern states. Some pavements use salt to make. California I think is the best DOT in USA, now most freeways in LA-Orange County has congestion problems especiaaly the I-405.--Freewayguy T C 19:44, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yea, I thought if you post a shield at certain time like October 2007 for instance you still dont know how old it is is that right? Sometimes they just cut and paste from various locations.--Freewayguy T C 19:46, 29 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Kansas Cities

edit

Thanks for responding where no one else would, the insight was well. Theres a Dallas, Missouri, but if you do a Search for "Dallas" it takes you to what you intended or expected, which is the most populated city by that name. The words Kansas City refers to Kansas City, MO, unless you say Kansas City, KS, because Kansas City, KS is MUCH smaller and less known. Anytime anyone references Kansas City they aren't talking about the suburb in KS. I took that to the next level and it looks like Wikipedia agrees and the change is holding, I hope that it sticks because I find this insulting. Thanks again for the insight friend. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SakuraAvalon86 (talkcontribs) 15:23, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok so I didn't sign it, sorry, I know this doesnt help either lol. SakuraAvalon86 (talk) 15:49, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I too live here in Kansas City, and I'm a huge fan, just as I'd imagine a KCKS person would be. It's too bad that what people in Kansas City, KS want to believe isn't whats legal, KCKS is a Suburb of Kansas City, MO, whether or not they like it. It's not really debateable, just like Raytown, Overland Park, Lee's Summit, Liberty, Olathe, Independence, Shawnee Mission, Meriam, Grandview, Blue Springs, and Ray-Pec. Look at Independence and KCKS, the two are similar in population, the only difference is a state line, and a 913 area code. Kansans use terms like "neighboring" to decribe Kansas City, MO, where the term "anchoring" should be used. If someone were to pull a population card, then Overland Park, KS would be the anchoring city on the Kansas side, even then Overland Park is a Suburb of Kansas City, MO. I'm glad I'm on my side of the debate, it's easy to make sense when something is true. The whole thing stemmed from the rerouting of Kansas City, to the MO side instead of a Metro page, which was unacceptable, however, the problem seems to be resolved, thanks to everyone's help and understanding. This is until someone else from the Kansas side comes along to change the page again, then we will have to start all over. Thanks again friend. SakuraAvalon86 (talk) 22:48, 9 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Contraction errors

edit

Yopu said about the sign issues in Oklahoma, they don't comply with official ODOT guidelines most of time. You told me earlier anything they do besides what's on official document is an error, as of purple US shields. Just to ask you do they actually have purple or blue US shields anywhere, yes I know those is definitely error. Because USDOT official docs wants US to have white bckground with black text. Green tour (guide signs) I thought updates more than independent use because independent use is post on highway on the right side. You know where I live? Eveytime whene i pass El Toro Y interchange from Lake Forest I see a brand new green plate saying I-5 North on top and I-405 north to Long Beach. i saw them post like fall 2007, anyways they look alot newer, but I think they have been manufacture like two years older maybe 2003.--Freewayguy T C 23:15, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Missouri

edit

I thought Missouri complys with DOT more than Oklahoma does. The most problem in Oklahoma is the green guide signs lackof capitalization. You said Oklahoma City has alot of neutral shields. Some states have blue bus signs. Where you get purple US signs from. Some places US bus is in green rather than white.--Freewayguy Talk Contribs 20:01, 4 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

i-635 Texas

edit

Well I don't mnd about keeping   but it and   is almost the same.   is the normal style for state-specific. It technically should be delete, but I'm being nice to let it be kept because its almost duplicate. Becasue File:Interstate 676 (Pennyslvania).svg; File:Interstate 94 (Indiana).svg and File:Interstate 275 (Michigan).svg was delete becasue its almost duplicate to metric version. Does i-635 Texas shows old change of USDOT?--Freewayguy Discussions Show all changes 02:36, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can you explain the sentence you put on commons in blue-purple (indigo). I don't fully understand it Actually, you've got it backwards. The image up for deletion conforms to MUTCD, the other image does not. The metric image is a bit closer, but the 2003 MUTCD specifies that the text in the red field at the top of the shield needs to be in Series E for three-digit shields; while Series C is commonplace, strictly speaking, it isn't correct. (Sort of like who/whom: nobody in the general populace really cares, and everyone messes it up, but it's still considered a grammar error to use the wrong one.)--Freewayguy Discussions Show all changes 02:48, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ohter old Image:Interstate 000 (State name).svg

edit

Tehn how come others like File:Interstate H201 (Hawaii).svg has to be delete, when it is just almost duplicate to the metric version, but not 100% exactly. I thought now; the state-specific normal font looks like   when the white text is wider, and the space for state name is smaller. Things change from time to time, usually narrow text is MUTCD prior to 1990.--Freewayguy Discussions Show all changes 23:41, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

New Mexico

edit

What you mean by its "DOT" is even worse than Oklahomas. For interstates I don't see consensus of contraction errors, and most of them is state/specific shields, the the map shade the state in blue. I dont see New Mexico have capitalization propblem, but they might still have brown guide signs thats old inventory, maybe later 60s to early 70s. Arizona I thought the DOT is generally good, at least better than OKlahoma.--Freewayguy Discussions Show all changes 00:03, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm trying to understand what you mean by Nex mexico DOT may be worse than Oklahoma, because New Mexico does not have contractor error problem like Oklahoma does. What problem Nex Mexico have with signs? Isn't Arizona a better DOT thanNew Mexico.--Freewayguy Discussions Show all changes 01:52, 19 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

::Wait, Wait, Wait; you got me a little wrong. On Interstates; I see them have arrows pointing north, south, west, east. You say they have sections without blue arrows pointing north, south, west, or east, is that State Routes? What you mean by they have poor signs? You say you got lost in northeastern new Mexico, is it a interstate-normal frwy, US?, or SRs? In California I have been to small state routes, like SR 120, and 41. They do overlap with som other state routes, ex. maybe SR 49 on 41; 108 on 120; perhaps 140. I didn't pay attention if those scenic routes have arrows pointing to north, south, west, east. i was too busy thinking about geting on a normal access freeways, leaving Yosemite National Park.--Freewayguy Msg USC 18:44, 20 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
