Threading

edit

Hi there. In your reply here, you broke the fomatting of Masem's below comment by introducing a stray bullet. To prevent that, just follow WP:THREAD and add a colon to whatever formatting the previous response used: Use the same indentation and list formatting as what you are replying to, plus one level at the end of the indent/list code. E.g., if you are replying to something in a complicated discussion that starts with #:::*, just copy-paste that and add a :, resulting in #:::*: ... I fixed it for you in my response, using a *. Not a big deal, but I've noticed it happening a few times recently. Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 11:12, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

...you indent like you do. And tell me who you think you're joking to! Should we take each other's hands as we jump into the final frontier?!? In case you can't tell, I'm being Mad About You, Scaby. But seriously, theme songs and misconstrued terrorist sympathies aside, your joke about the way God intended the Taliban was totally protected by your forefathers, brother, but it was missing a timestamp and I'm pretty sure you know we can't have that now, can we? Anyway, happy belated Fourth of July! As much as it doesn't seem it sometimes, I appreciate how "your side" makes "some good points", too. If Tajik boys and Pashtun girls can't live in a world with Seinfeld, Friends, Saturday Night Live, Saturday Night's Main Event and everything else real American Peacock subscribers get for a low monthly price, maybe the Taliban should have been defeated after all. Tough to say. Maybe next time, bud! InedibleHulk (talk) 16:43, 11 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for being around, and good wishes! - Happy new year, in friendship! - One of my pics was on the Main page (DYK) and even made the stats. - In this young year, I enjoyed meetings with friends in real life, and wish you many of those. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:03, 7 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

2022 began happily with vacation. I uploaded images but stopped at 22 January - click on songs. 30 January means 10 years of Precious. Thank you for coming over! - I have the quirky DYK today, which is rare, and I don't quite know why music for peace was deemed quirky. - I took and picked the blue-and-yellow pic last year for May. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:22, 3 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Prächtig und heiter. Perhaps you should post your photo there. We don't grow it much over here. I see Germany produces about four times as much as the U.S. does. I don't think I've ever seen it growing. – Sca (talk) 14:42, 3 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
This year, it seems to be even more abundant than the last ones. From one position, you see seven fields, with great patterns. Keep watching the songs, some day they may pop up. - Good idea to go to the plants, but now first music to the violinist, and later an article about the colleague who played in Dresden. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:51, 3 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Dresden brings to mind Victor Klemperer's I Will Bear Witness (Ich will Zeugnis ablegen bis zum letzten), which I've been re-reading after 20-some years. Racism at ITN

edit

What on Earth was 'racist' about it? It was a joke. I haven't a racist bone in my body. In 16 years on Wiki no one has ever accused me of 'racism.' I think you owe me an apology.
Sca (talk) 12:32, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Your "joke" was based on the racist stereotype that East Asians, when speaking English, confuse /l/ and /r/. Stephen 23:38, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Stephen: Not at all! That was your interpretation of it, not my intention or motivation. It was simply a play on a word to substitute for "elected" – which Xi wasn't, not really. (And BTW, one of my closest friends from junior high through college and beyond was a second-generation Japanese-American whose last name was Ujifusa, and whose parents were interned during WWII.) I never dreamed that anyone would interpret my comment as a racial slur.
I still think you owe me an apology. – Sca (talk) 11:56, 25 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I recognize that my post at ITN/C was a mistake, as it could be taken as a racial slur (though I didn't think so at the time). I also accept that I should be more prudent, and less voluble, in any posts at ITN/C. As said elsewhere, I'm not racist in any way, shape or form. I view Wikipedia as a tremendously positive development in the realm of information, and I appreciate the opportunity it offers volunteer editors like me to participate in this important work. I regret, and apologize for, the furor my comment touched off, and I will make every effort to avoid such incidents in the future. I am distraught and truly chastened. Please allow me to continue my work at Wiki, begun 16 years ago. Thank you. – Sca (talk) 20:34, 26 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

I am not convinced that you have understood why you have been blocked from the page, despite having had multiple people explain it to you in the ANI thread linked above. Take some time away from INT and demonstrate through your editing in other areas of the project that you can contribute constructively. Thryduulf (talk) 11:18, 27 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I know Wikipedia is different things to different people, but you are only blocked from one single page, a page you have been blocked from before, for essentially the same reason: using it as a forum for your attempts at humor. This unblock request gives me no confidence that the intended message has been received. Beeblebrox (talk) 22:25, 26 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
