First off, let me be clear — the page was deleted because it was very short and didn't give any context: nobody except you could know what it was. Because you've added enough information to make it obvious what the SIG 522LR is, I've un-deleted the edit in question; you can see it here. Please be careful in the future — articles with no content except for section headers, like the one in question, are eligible for immediate deletion. If you don't want to do all the work at once and write the article in a single edit, there are two good ways to do it: write it in a subpage in your userspace (you could call it User:RichardMills65/Sandbox, or you could call it whatever else you want), or write it on your computer and put it online when you're satisfield. If you write an article in your userspace, it won't get deleted quickly for lack of context or content.

I'm confused by your words: what do you mean by a template? Were you originally trying to create this page in the template namespace? Pages in the template namespace aren't articles; instead, they're chunks of text that can be displayed on other pages without having to type everything that you're writing; for example, by typing {{fact}}, I get a message of [citation needed] instead of a few letters. Also, I just noticed your "please refrain from editing" comment at the article's talk page. This is a good idea, but people often don't look at the talk page when they're about to make an edit. You can make the same comment on the article itself: just type {{In use}} at the top of the article, and you'll get a big banner that politely asks people not to make any edits while you're working on the article. In the edit summary for the first edit to the page, you said "create template". That's why I was confused. If you want to make sure that the section headings are working, you can put them into the userspace subpage, or you could put them into the page itself and simply click "Preview" instead of "Save"; this will show you how the page would look if saved, but it doesn't create anything that can be deleted immediately. And by the way, I saw how you had to change the coding for the {{in use}} template on my talk page — that's what it will look like on the article. If you want to link to a template, the easiest way is to type the template with the curly braces, then the letters "tl" and the | character before the name of the template. For example, typing {{tl|in use}} has the effect of displaying {{in use}} with a link to the template without making the whole template show up here, where it doesn't belong. Nyttend, I think that by "template" RichardMills65 meant that he was creating a kind of skeleton or rough outline for his article, in the form of section names. I saw your article SIG 522LR and see that it has come along nicely. I want to echo Nyttend's recommendation to start your articles in a sandbox, and work there at least until the article has context and is clearly something worth saving. I also add several references to reliable sources so that readers can verify the accuracy of the claims in the article. Only then do I move my new articles to the main Wikipedia space.

I am not a firearms expert, so I can only guess that detailed reviews in reputable firearms magazines or reference books might be the best place to start in finding references. Independent sources are preferred, as opposed to manufacturer's websites or catalogs, though such sources can be used sparingly. I hope that you will stick around and write more articles. Spelling

Hi Richard. Great to see you helping to correct spelling mistakes. However, you should be aware of Wikipedia:Manual of Style#National varieties of English. "An article on a topic that has strong ties to a particular English-speaking nation should use the English of that nation." This includes differences in spelling between US English and other varieties of English (i.e. US "center" Brit. "centre", US "organization" Brit. "organisation" etc.) A comprehensive list of differences can be found at American and British English spelling differences, Note that Australian and New Zealand articles largely follow British English spelling too. Appreciate the heads up. As an educator, I feel it is my duty to correct these common errors wherever they pop up. While I certainly don't mean to offend anyone, posting on Wikipedia isn't exactly like having a casual conversation with your friends. Millions of people may view what you write. I want to make sure that these common errors are corrected before they further propagate themselves !
If anyone does get offended, they are welcome to tell me, but I will not stop in my relentless quest for correctness of the English language!

When you are editing, there is a tool bar above the text area. If you click "Cite" it will drop down templates. click on the Templates drop down box when your cursor is where you want to place the in-line citation. fill out the info and click 'insert'. at the bottom, put this below (click edit -----> to see the code)

  • Hey, I saw that you were new and in the spirit of "don't bite the newbie", I thought I'd explain a little more about disambiguation pages. Normally in 99.9% of the articles in AfD, there wouldn't be any problem with your argument for deletion. The only thing is that disambiguation pages are pages where we collect different links to pages that share the same name or a similar one. This particular page isn't as full as say, the disambiguation page for Rambo, but it still fills an important need since there's multiple different things that the name "Latter Rain Movement" could stand for. When people look for something that could have similar names, these types of pages can help them find the page they're looking for that much easier. If they wanted the film, they could look on the disambiguation page for the movie series or if they wanted to find information about the Rambo apple (which sounds like the most kick butt apple ever), this page would help them find their desired page that much faster- especially since many page names are named so distinctly that it's hard to find it by just using the search bar. In any case, this is a pretty easy mistake to make, so don't worry too much about it. I can't tell you how many times I've nominated something, only for someone to later say "but this falls under this, so it totally fits under Wikipedia rules". I've gotten egg on my face more than once, that's for sure. Sometimes disambiguation pages can be deleted if there's only one or two things, but it's pretty rare. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to drop a message on my talk page. I just didn't want you to think that I was being too abrupt on the AfD. Could use your advice

Hi Richard, last week you remarked about a page I had written, Go Technologies, and I appreciate you taking the time to look at it. I could always use an even hand. The reason I'm writing, it seem that a possibly disgruntled ex employees joined Wikipedia specifically to markup this page.

I'm going to revise this markup, but I'm afraid that I'm going to get involved in a war here. Any ideas?

Hi Richard, I'll never really understand people. Some of this person's edits were good edits. They should learn to play with others. I've started to take another look at the page in question, and I think that I can attribute almost everything on it, but looking at it 4 months after it was written, I can see some editorializing that should go. Currently, I'm writing a kickstarter page for an animation project and my brain is stuck in hyperbole mode. Everything is fantastic! A good rule of thumb that I use is that if I can't find 2 sources for it on the internet or in a book, then it's probably not a confirmable fact. Even then, some sources can be suspect. Use your better judgement. We are supposed to give the benefit of the doubt - here on WP we call it assuming good faith. Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev

Looking back at the history, my edit didn't remove them from the table of contents. I changed the headings from level 4 to level 3, because they were after a level 2 heading (headings shouldn't skip levels). User:Himanshu2212 changed all of those headings to bold text instead of headings in this edit. For me, I would use headings, but, with 82 episodes, a better organized table of contents should be used, as using headings would create a very long table of contents. There's lists of tables of contents at Wikipedia:Template messages/Compact tables of contents and Category:Wikipedia table of contents templates, but there's not really anything in either place that will work. Maybe headings for each month might work. how can you tell if they are mirroring content? It seems like a ton of these indian wiki articles get thrown up (literally) every day. Most of them are trash. Peacocking, grammar, no sources, etc. I have made articles on en.wp that were deleted in 30 minutes and had none of the same violations ( mine were readable and comprehensive, and not copy/pasted) --RichardMills65 (talk) 02:56, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
In the case of Jagtial, the site that you identified had the notation "from Wikipedia" below the copied text. Many mirrors have some sort of similar notes. In other cases, one must look through the article history and, possibly using an internet archive site, determine whether the article text existed before the mirror. Looking through the mirror site can also give you an idea of whether it's mirroring Wikipedia, if there's a lot of content that is in the format of a Wikipedia article. (And yes, copyright investigation is a pain in the rump.)
I share your frustration with the nightly (at least for me) deluge of trash from South Asia. Often the best solution is to look through the article history and revert to a clean copy, or stub the article, to avoid throwing out the baby buried in the dirty bath. He has just ruined a recent attempt to improve the Church and State section on the Nazism page (see its talkpage for my reaction). Hi. Thank you for addeing pre-harappan pottery to Hulas. Picture of pre-indus pottery, c.2700 BCE, originally added to Hulas by you - this image is more appropriate at page Manda, Jammu, where pre- harappan pottery is excavated. So the picture was deleted from this page and pasted at Manda, Jammu. In Hulas, pre-harappan pottery is yet to be found.Rayabhari (talk) 15:23, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
