You wrote, on the talk page: I removed a manually inserted Category:Possible copyright violations from the article. If someone thinks this article indeed violates a copyright, tag it with the copyvio template. -Poli 07:54, 2005 Jun 26 (UTC) You might have let me know, since I made it quite clear why i had inserted the tag rather thn the full template. But since you insist, the template will be used. DES 4 July 2005 23:34 (UTC)

  • I did post it in the article's talk page, I suppose I should have posted it on your talk page, too. Well, the process for possible Copyright violation problems in Wikipedia:Copyright_problems makes it clear that the ((copyvio)) template should be used. Manually inserting the category was only half-way on the process and got no solution within the 11 days it remained that way. Only minutes after you tagged it with ((copyvio)), the talk page had 2 comments about it, and it was removed, as you can see in the article's talk page. The copyvio makes it much easier to find.-Poli 2005 July 5 04:11 (UTC)
    • And I suppose I should have watched the EB1911 page. But the Wikipedia:Copyright_problems page says to use the ((copyvio)) tag and blank the articel only when ALL of the content on a page is a copyvio. It is not clear what to do when it appars that much, but not all, of the content is a copyvio. That was, I thought the situation here. That, plus not being quite sure that this was a copyvio was why i acted as I did. DES 5 July 2005 04:25 (UTC)

Whites

edit

Hi Poli. I've noticed that you've inserted an image of Mariska Hargitay into this article. Don't you think you're being a little too bold, because everybody knows what a white person looks like. Thanks, --Gramaic | Talk 07:59, 11 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Hello Gramaic. To tell you the truth I just got by that article and I thought it could benefit aesthetically from an image. I had no intention of being that bold about the characteristics of a white person, but now that you named it, I think you are right. I just need to think about something better to improve the article. Thanks, Poli (talk • contribs) 08:07, 2005 July 11 (UTC)
Thank you Poli. Keep up the good work with this article :). Regards, --Gramaic | Talk 03:08, 12 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Copy-edit

edit

Hi, Poli! Thanks for the copy-edit on my user page. I had thought about doing so myself, but I guess I was too lazy. :) Regards, Sango123 22:04, July 23, 2005 (UTC)

Hi Sango! I got to your page from the RfA article, and, by the way, I think you will be a very fine adition to the admin team. One of my most active jobs has been to fix date formatting, inclunding once in the Main Page, first because I thought it was a good idea, then because I selected some weird format preference and happened to like it! :) So, everytime I pass by some date, I promptly note if it isn't following my (at first) weird preference, and get it formatted. :) Well, I might be the first to congratulate you on adminship, but as I think you are already there anyway, congratulations!!! See you around, and keep up the good work.-Poli (talk • contribs) 22:22, 2005 July 23 (UTC)

Thank you for your welcome, Poli.

Though...hm...if you don't mind me asking...how the heck did you find me? What few times I edit anything, I forget to sign in at least half the time.

Kell 06:07, July 25, 2005 (UTC)

Hello Kell! It seems that you are a natural Wikipedian! You sure found your way in the Encyclopaedia. :) People who are new to Wikipedia and the whole Wiki concept most of the times are shy to start editing and using Wikipedia, so, we have created the Welcoming commitee, where we always search for new users and try to welcome them to make them feel more comfortable with the editing schema. One of the best way to find them is to use the "Recent Changes" on the navigation menu on the left. There you can see every single change that was made to Wikipedia in the time interval you choose. New users are somewhat easy to spot because their "talk" link shows in red, meaning that their Talk page is empty. Oh, I forgot to mention: you too can become a part of any project or any committee in Wikipedia, don't be shy to include yourself on the list! :) See you!-Poli (talk • contribs) 06:13, 2005 July 25 (UTC)

Ah. That's how you found me, then. Thanks for the welcome, to both you and the Committee. ASL 07:07, 25 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the warm welcome you gave me, Poli! I have a question for you, if you wouldn't mind answering it. Could a user be reprimanded for editing a particular article too many times? I know the fewer edits, the better, but I'd like to clarify this so I can keep it in mind.

Joshfist 02:31, 2005 July 28 (UTC)

Hello Joshfist! Wikipedia has no restriction whatsoever on the number of edits you make to an article. As a matter of fact, if you find out a wrong or missing comma or something you don't think is right, Be Bold! and fix it. The only restriction for number of edits exists if there is a fight for some part of or the whole article or some information in it. In these cases, beware of the three reverts rule and discuss the matter on the article's talk page. Hope that was what you asked. :) If it wasn't, just ask again. :) -Poli (talk • contribs) 02:59, 2005 July 28 (UTC)

Yes, Poli, it's obviously the bird... in Portuguese, its name would be "grou".

But now, I've also learnt to build other things by folding paper. Like boxes, for example. I even asked my mother to give me, as a birthday gift, the book "Fabulous Amazing Boxes", in which there are many models of modular origami boxes, it's sooooooooo beautiful!

Anyway, the crane (grou) will always be my favourite, because it was the first model I learnt to fold! :-D

Time and speed should not be major factors in this round; thus, there is no exact opening time for the round as speed will not factor into the scoring. Thanks! Libya

edit

Hi,

I've recently added Libya to the list of featured article candidates. Overall the candidature is going well with many of the objections now sorted out. The final concrete objection is with the article's prose. I have been the main contributor to the article and have been looking at it for the previous 9 - 10 months. My eyes no longer see it freshly, so I am not a suitable copy-editor!

To meet the final demand of copy editing, I have been advised to ask different people to edit parts of the article.

I would really love to get this article featured as you can probably see from the page's history! I've worked very hard on it and I see this as possibly being the final hurdle.

You can see the prose objections, mostly raised by Sandy, on the candidature page. If you have the time, please choose a section (Politics, Religion, Culture etc.) and copyedit, perfect, ace it! I would be very grateful with any help I can get.

Thanks a lot,

--Jaw101ie 16:51, 20 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:01, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
